The third book in the collection of strays series is all about the fabulous non-binary unicorn that is Isaiah. Sam is another YouTube star and a unicorn who is asked by a mutual friend to meet Isaiah.
This book is so sweet it’s almost sick making, there is no angst just two inexperienced, gorgeous, so sweet unicorns.
The series is good and fluffy, the mix of shifters in the family makes this so fun to read, it’s perfect for curling up on the sofa when you have five minutes spare as it is so easy to read. You can’t go wrong by reading in order as each subsequent couple is introduced in the previous book. Next it Cameron and I believe his book is going to be a doozy.
Isaiah and Sam are beautiful together. They are such a sweet couple. I loved the twist about them (I won’t say anything more hahaha).
I thought both characters were so gentle and caring. In particular, I loved that Sam was so respectful of Isaiah and how they presented. There was never a question – Sam loved Isaiah for who they were without wanting them to change or present a certain way. He didn’t push or demand – he just wanted them to work. I loved that Sam was the way he was, a genuinely good and kind person.
Oh how I adore Isaiah. They are just so care free and wonderful. As for Sam, he’s there to show just how wonderful Isaiah is. Sam fits into this family perfectly.
Sweetest book ever!!!
There is not better way to describe this book, really, because this is the sweetest book I ever read. Two cute virgin unicorns, discovering that one is the fated mate of the other, trying to make love that first time? And all the brothers trying to explain? And a unicorn baby? (Sorry, spoiler!) Cute, endearing, sweet and funny!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Non- binary, unicorns, fated mates, oh wow!
What a great addition to the Collection of Strays series. Welcome back to Dakota & Charlie’s pack. Old friends are back. New- old mates are found. Yes, there is sex. Not the most daring, but what do you expect from two virgins. There is true love, an adorable baby, no drama, and HEA. What’s not to love!
This is Isaiah and Sam’s story. Both men have you tube shows. Each loves the other’s show. When a friend brings them together, they have the same reaction: Mine, Mate! This has been a long time coming. But Fate does things in Her own time.
You will fall in love along with these two unicorns. You will share their passion, awkwardness, and joy as their love grows. Grooming guru non- binary Isaiah is just the man do loosen up master woodworker Sam. Sam has been looking for Isaiah for a long time, since he helped him run away from an arranged marriage, to himself. Sam knew Isaiah was his fated mate, but Isaiah was too young. This time around, things are different.
There is humor, fumbling sex, a first heat, knotting, mpreg, and an adorable baby. There are is a big, loving , nosey, accepting family that welcome Sam with open arms and hearts.
I did not want to put this book down. The characters grabbed me from the first pages and would’t let me go. I was engulfed in their world.
Although this book stands alone I recommend reading the first two books, well worth the time. You will love this book. You will love the series.
This book contains adult themes and language and mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Sam and Isaiah are pretty adorable together, and Isaiah’s adoptive family are funny and loving. There isn’t a lot of plot here, but it is nice to read about the fated mates finding each other and learning about sex and love together. Cute story.
Fated mates, knotty fun, and first times for everyone, this book has all the cheesy sweetness I’ve come to expect and enjoy about this series. Isaiah is a non-binary unicorn who longs for their mate. When YouTube and a best friend bring them Sam, Fate obviously has a handle on things. Sam’s smitten right away and it’s clear from their meet-cute that things are going to end up with a pair of sparkly mated unicorns and really, what could be cuter than that? Probably the tattoos…but you’ll have to read the story to find out why =].
Speaking of cute, I have to say I’m a huge fan of Sam’s favorite pick-up line. “You’re pretty, I’m cute. Together we’d be pretty cute.” I think that’s how it goes, but whatever, it’s freaking adorable. Is it also a good time to mention I’m a fan of clever dad jokes? Anyway…
This story is quick and a whole lot of sweet with shy giggles, lots of blushing, and a fumbling first time for Isaiah and Sam. I really enjoyed their dynamic, that despite their genetic assignments neither enforced any kind of authority over the other, and through their equally controlling upbringing they were able to recognize the uniqueness they had to offer one another. Even better was their ability to appreciate and encourage it as well.
There was quite a lot of education about how a non-binary person may think and feel based on Isaiah’s specific understanding of their identity. It didn’t take up a whole lot of the book, just a very public moment during the Con and a private moment when Sam used communication to understand his mate. That moment was far more effective than others I’ve read and was far less preachy, which I completely appreciated. It was simple, to the point, and heartfelt.
The whole plot is basically finding their mate, mating, and all the lovely consequences of enjoying a rather intense omega heat. Definitely simplistic, but adequate for the short length of the book. I especially loved getting to visit with the whole Burke pack and the teaser for Cameron’s story (which I’ve been dying to get my teeth into!). There’s so much to love about this family and I’m definitely coming back for more.

Sweet, funny and full of awkward innocence!
I found Isaiah & Sam so endearing and sweet! The story is a cute fated mates tale with two innocent unicorns who find each other and pave their way together. It’s sweet, cute, occasionally awkward, with zero angst. A unicorn fairytale.
This was my first book by Toby and first of the series and I found the characters sweet and engaging. I enjoyed getting to know Isaiah and even though I hadn’t read the previous books I didn’t really feel all that lost. Toby does a good job of filling in the required character connections without overloading the storyline. This is a fast, easy, feel-good read and I loved the non-binary elements. I love discovering new authors and feel this series is a winner, I NEED to go back and read the others and can’t wait for the next book thanks to the ending of this one!
If you’re after a fun, sweet and romantic unicorn fated mates tale then look no further than this! Really enjoyable read!!!
P.s. These two are so sweet, they’ve inspired a new drawing. Some fun Unicorn illustrations will be coming soon

I really love this series. The books are short and sweet, and each member of the family is unique. I suppose this potentially COULD be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the series in order. The characters stories are explained well enough for the story to make sense, but I just can’t imagine not knowing the backgrounds of all the couples.
This is Isaiah’s story. His best friend Charlotte and he are going to be on a panel at a con, and she convinces Sam, another YouTube vlogger, to come. She has had both the non-binary Isaiah and the shy Sam watching each other for a while, and Isaiah already knows that Sam is his mate.
When they get together at the after party, their first kiss is incendiary, and they leave the party early. However, with neither one having any experience, their plans are disappointing. But, Sam is moving in to Dakota’s house of strays, and Isaiah is getting pointers from their omega siblings.
Sam and Isaiah talk, and Sam reveals that he was the arranged mate that Isaiah ran from so long ago. They both agree it was for the best. When Isaiah unexpectedly goes into heat, they find things are not so difficult after all. Isaiah is ready to start their family immediately, and it’s a good thing he is. Sam has already fit right into the family, and they are already looking forward to their HEA.
The author sets the stage for the next book in the series, and I really cannot wait; it’s Cameron’s, with a twist!
Happy reading!
* I received an ARC of this book and I am leaving my honest review. *
Fate’s Perfect Timing is the third book in the A Collection of Strays series by Toby Wise. Thier timing wasn’t right the first time they crossed paths… luckily Fate knows the perfect time to being them back together. Sam and Isaiah are adorably sweet together and I love that they are both virgins. And they have sexy energy too. Love them.
The story is interesting and just took my attention and kept it tight…I seriously loved it so much.. my only complaint is it ends so soon… I mean it isn’t rush… I just was enjoying it so much I wish there was more to enjoy. There is a non- binary character, sexy manties, and funny and loving shifters. This series is amazing.
