Elena must save the very beings who would kill her if given the chance… There’s nothing Fae despise more than the half-breed called Halven, a race of lesser beings produced by the mating of a Fae and a human. Only now those Halven are looking more useful each day, because a virus that kills immortal Fae has been unleashed in Faery, and every life is at stake. Except for Halven living on … for Halven living on Earth. And one Halven, in particular, who has the power to help them.
A mere slip of a girl named Elena Rosales descended from a line of Fae known for their powerful magic, and she’ll come into her ability soon. An ability that could destroy the virus–if she can master it.
Her only shot at learning to control the magic she was born into and create a cure? Enlisting the help of her brooding, though brilliant, chemist neighbor Derek, who rivals the Fae in masculine beauty.
But when Elena and Derek get together, more than chemicals spark fire. They soon discover how complicated attraction can get when they find themselves on the other side of the portal, enemies by birthright, and fighting for survival.

Fates Divided by Jules Barnard was very interesting. I liked her approach to a new world of magic. If you read this book, I guarantee you will probably have no idea what kind of supernatural the main and minor characters of Fates Divided are until you are told by the author.
Happy reading! 🙂
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also, this is a new author to me, and it won’t be my last.
Wow I really enjoyed this story. I couldn’t put it down. Elena is a college student and science nerd who’s studying to be a doctor. She accidentally finds out she’s half far, a halven. This gets her dragged into helping them find a cure for a man-made virus that is killing the fae. With the help of her nextdoor neighbor, Derek, she travels to the Elven world to create the cure. Evil fae, treachery, and so much more await them, including love. I can’t wait to read the next book. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.
Elena and Derek’s story is full of paranormal twists that captivated me from the start. A well written book with magical characters that are likeable. I loved the way the author brought Elena and Derek together and how their relationship wasn’t rushed but it developed over time. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Welcome to some incredible world building in this new fantasy novel. We meet Elena on her 18th birthday which seems t o be one weird event after another. After seeing a hidden classroom in the physics building she meets a group of Fae that claim she is a half breed or as they say halven. As if that is not enough the Fae are being killed by a very fast acting virus and some believe that she can save them but can she really figure it all out in time? Add the hot neighbor Derek to the mix and the story really heats up while adding another figure to the board. The world building is so great that I had no clue what was going to happen next and the end really blew me away. I look forward to seeing where the author takes the story next time. If you are looking for a fantasy Fae novel to whisk you away from reality for awhile then try this one. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I love reading about different Author views of the paranormal. This story was no exception. I found the story to be a bit long winded and boring until about half way through. Maybe because they were secluded in Emain and not any actual action. I would have also liked to see how the Fae actually got to the point they were. But, I stuck with it and really enjoyed it once I felt it got going. I am interested in finding out what happens next. It has a great overall plot and unforgettable characters!
I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.
I enjoyed this original, well written story and characters! Great world building!! It did read a bit “young” at times but I look forward to continuing the series!!
