The future isn’t real. The past isn’t real, either. Only the present is, solid and full, flying at our faces, our bodies, our hearts and souls at breakneck speed as we work to take it all in. As we work to protect others. And, finally – ourselves. We’ve started to break the bonds of Stateless, a system as rotten as the one it seeks to destroy. But systems are organisms with one brutal goal: to … it seeks to destroy. But systems are organisms with one brutal goal: to survive, whatever it takes.
Kina has to do the unfathomable to save a different system, one she created out of empathy and love for children we rescued from the only home they know.
She’ll use her mind, her body, her spirit — and her ultimate weapons: love, and —
Me.

The stunning conclusion of an all-new series by USA Today best-selling author Meli Raine.
Man, this is one twisted story. As always Meli Raine, scooped us up and wrung us out to dry, with twists that are unexpected and heartbreaking. Yet still the questions linger. Will there be more? Or is this the finale. Soooo good. Don’t miss this series. Top of your TBR list.
(I received this book as an ARC. All opinions are mine and freely given.)
‘Fateless,’ the most recent release by Meli Raine, was my first exposure to her Stateless series. It’s the third book in the series, and I feel like I might have enjoyed it more if I’d already been familiar with them, but it’s still a page turner and if you don’t mind first person narratives, this is a good quick downtime read.
From a writing standpoint, the story is solid. After all, Raine is a USA Today best selling author, according to the bio on her site. She’s the author of several series, which lends her plenty of experience and she really does have some interesting ideas. I’m just not a fan of the writing style.
The story flip flops back and forth between the POV of two characters, Kina and Callum. Literally, every chapter it switches up. That feels a little too formulaic for me and everything is conveyed through the book pseudo-directly from those POV characters. It’s not just passing through their minds as they observe this or that, it reads as if they’re deliberately explaining it. In fact, it feels more like a tag team narration, than a story to experience.
There are some really intriguing plot points that could be great scenes, but they’re a bit thin and seem to dissipate as they near their peaks. Kina and Callum are very likeable though and I found myself rooting for them quickly, which considering their backstory, is kind of amazing.
Though I feel the pacing is a bit off, I still burned through it in about a day. I think in an attempt to convey the action sequences, it often came across as hurried explanations and too frequent use of a couple important terms, but it’s entirely possible that Raine intends for us to feel rushed due to the urgency of what’s happening around her characters.

Main Characters: Kina and Callum
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
I loved this 3 book series. This was suspenseful with so many twists and turns you just don’t know who are the good or bad guys. This is not a series to skim any parts of it. (I have an awful habit of doing that at times) Whenever I read books by Meli Raine I am always so amazed at how this author can come up with such stories. I guess I just will never have an imagination like that. I highly recommend you read this book but you really have to read the other 2 books in order. Great job!
Wow! This is the last in the Stateless series. Callum and Kina have escaped Stateless, or have they?
Meli does a wonder job of intertwining all of her previous series into this conclusion. Characters from the following series all are a piece of the puzzle in unraveling Kina and Callum’s life and Stateless. You’ll find reference to people and events from Breaking Away, Coming Home, Harmless, Shameless and False series.
Meli does a wonderful job with tying up loose ends and answering questions that arose from the Stateless series. Callum and Kina are characters with so many layers and I believe we’ve just touched the surface.
This author truly knows how to spin a tale that is engaging and interesting throughout all books.
I hope there is more to come.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review
Great read. Could not put it down. Twist and turns surprise ending.
Wow! What a fantastic series this has been! Exciting, plot rich, well written, filled with an intensity which made for completely focussed and non-stop reading. Kina and Callum are such interesting characters and the complexities of a far reaching conspiracy of a state within a state, one which we have seen as milder, but non the less destructive, incarnations, throughout the decades.
As a third book in an ongoing story, Fateless successfully wraps up this part, but I have hopes that there is more to come from the fertile imagination of Meli Raine. An excellent read!
Wow, what a wild ride. I have loved this series from the very beginning. I couldn’t put this down until I was done. It really makes you wonder about odd events we see on TV. Don’t miss this one.
OMG!! Fateless is the final book in the Stateless trilogy and man on man!! It does NOT disappoint! Absolutely FANTASTIC! I thought I had everything figured out, but once again I was completely wrong! Impeccable, Intricate, Detailed and Delightful!!
This trio of books culminates with just the right amount of everything. Suspense, struggle, revelations and relationships. Stateless has raised these youngsters to remove emotion and create chaos in the “wide world”. When it is decided to kill the children, help comes from an unexpected quarter.
How can you tell who is the enemy and what is real? How can you rise above how you were raised to exist in the “real world”?
Complex characters, believable situations, and an exciting storyline. This weaves seamlessly into the prior series in a fascinating way. Absolutely stunning and I highly recommend.

The stunning conclusion of an all-new series by USA Today best-selling author Meli Raine.
If you’re in the mood for thrills, chills, and twisty suspense, you can’t go wrong with this latest by Meli Raine!
An epic ending to this twisty, turny series!
I have loved this series. It has been full of twist and turns along with mystery and suspense. This was a definite page turner. Kina and Callum story was unique, growing up in Stateless, they were trained to fulfill their roll for the cause. Which side was right and which one was wrong. Lines got crossed and the missions got blurry. Who could you trust? Could they even trust each other? Who was the bad guy or the good guy? I loved reading this and seeing it all unravel never expecting what was happening. This is a must read series.
The last book in this trilogy answered all of the questions and has opened the door for even more.
After reading the first two books in the series, I definitely thought that I would get this trilogy more if I had read any of the books that came before it. While waiting for this book, I read Lindsay’s story and started Jane’s and they definitely made me have a greater understanding of Stateless.
The ending to Kina and Callum’s story was really wild!! There was so much suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, and racing through the pages. I have my fingers crossed that there will be more to these interconnected series!!
