“I want a divorce.”No woman wants to say those words. No woman who is still in love with her husband anyway. Our marriage has been tested, repeatedly. It’s been dragged through tabloids and rumors and fans that just won’t let us be.Through it all, we’ve remained unbreakable. We didn’t have the perfect marriage because perfection doesn’t exist. But we had love. We had trust. We had chemistry that to … had trust. We had chemistry that to this day sets everything inside me on fire.
Then one life-threatening statement creates a chain of lies that leaves me no choice but to say those horrible words.
I never thought I’d say them.
I never thought my husband would ignore me when I did.
I never thought the man I love would sever the vows we took.
I never thought I’d pack my bags and move from our home in L.A. to our getaway cottage in Hermosa Beach.
Then again, I never thought he’d choose the fate of his life over his fate with me.

Total TKO of the reader
It hurts so good.
Kathy Coopmans gave us another heartbreaking, soul twisting love. Fateful Fighter is going to make you fall hard and fast for the magic that is their love. It is going to make you smile, daydream, and swoon. You will undoubtedly be in love with their love. But you know what they say…the bigger they are the harder they fall..?
Let me be the first to warn you, it’s not their love that hurts- it’s Eden and Mason’s fall from grace. The swan dive into a kiddie pool of hardened concrete. Kathy Coopmans packs an emotional punch. It’s not the jab, it’s the uppercut to the solar plexus that gives the reader the TKO. You never even saw it coming.
Fateful Fighter is laced with angst, rife with distrust, and will have you sparring with your feelings. Shadow box with your head and your heart while Eden and Mason war with theirs.
If I could, I would give this book so much more than five stars!! I want a gold button!! I have to admit that I hadn’t read Cocky Bastard before going into this book, so I was going in blind. But I love this author and I knew it would be a great read.
That was a massive understatement! This book had me gripped from the first page, this author dragged me in kicking and screaming. By chapter four I was a blubbering mess, finding it hard to breath, my throat tight with emotion. The emotions were rolling off the pages thick and fast! The hits (pardon the pun!) didn’t stop coming until I felt buried by the weight of it all, literally crawling out of my skin!
What a read!! Thank you for all your words!!
I highly recommend that you add this to your TBR!!
Wow. What an amazing rollercoaster of a ride. Loved the twists and turns in this story. Mason is one stubborn strong man. Eden is one amazing strong woman. They have an awesome chemistry. Could not wait to see what they would do next. There connection and love knows no boundaries. They complete each other. In ways everyone should hope to find with there significant other. A must read.
Fateful Fighter is an intense powerhouse that shook me up and grabbed my heart!! Mason and Eden’s complex story effortlessly flowed and kept me hanging on to every word from beginning to end. Five stars for Kathy Coopmans finest storytelling yet !!
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the story about Mason, a retired fighter and his wife Eden, who has supported him since they were married over 15 years ago. They were both foster kids and the way they escaped poverty was through Mason becoming a prize fighter. When he got his 5th concussion, they told him he must quit or he could die or end up with a brain injury. Since then he has worked with his wife and they own a beach house, next door to Chance and Aubrey, and run an art gallery and a boxing gym.
However Eden discovers that Mason has a secret he has been hiding for 2 years and she leaves him and he is in denial and a mess and this is their story.
It was a dark romance in that it is no joke what could happen to Mason. Eden was such a wonderful character in her strength and how she fights for Mason’s life even against him. The author did an awesome job with all the characters in this story and I really loved it so much.
Fateful Fighter by Kathy Coopmans is quite the moving read. It’s raw, intense, heartbreaking, emotional, intense, powerful , sizzling , angsty, hot and addictive.
Mason and Eden’s story is an emotional rollercoaster ride. There’s twists and turns throughout the book. She’s a strong, passionate woman whose had enough and is tired of the lies in her marriage. Mason loves his wife but he’s not about to end his dreams for their marriage. Will their love pay the price ? They have such chemistry together. These are two people who are perfect for each other yet it’s just one person who refuses to give up/give in and the angst is quite strong in this book. Oh my heart hurt because their love was there yet the push/pull was so strong. Could Mason and Eden fight for their love, for their marriage or will they end it all? Beautiful story by Ms. Coopmans
My Rating: 4.5 stars ********
I love that this story features the couple after they’re already married. It’s emotional, raw, and so real because not everything is butterflies and rainbows after marriage. This starts out with a bang and only gets better from there. I will admit that I was crying like a baby and kept rooting for them to figure it out.
This book was an amazing addition to the Cocky Hero World!
Kathy does an amazing job of taking two broken people (Mason and Eden) and bringing them back together to show that their love is meant to last forever, and that love is truly the bond that will never be broken.
This book was a tear-jerker for me (but then again, I cry easily at sappy love stories) but to see the love that Mason and Eden have for each other is truly something that makes your heart happy, to see that no matter what, love wins in the end, and you have to fight together as a couple to ensure that your vows, your happiness, comes above all else.
Fateful Fighter takes us into the Cocky Hero World of Cocky Bastard. This story had me in knots, had my chest tight and my anxiety at defcon 1 as Mason and Eden fight for each other. A story of lies, guilt, deception and denial. As grief, sorrow and distrust swallow this couple it will take the fight of their lives to ensure that a love that was supposed to be unbreakable doesn’t take a hit that it can’t recover from. Theirs is a story that is raw, passionate and will strip you bare. Your heart will ache, tears will fall and at times you will feel like you are falling down the rabbit hole right alongside them. Their story consumed my every single thought. Mason and Eden’s story was one that felt personal, one where I literally felt like my heart was being torn out of my chest. If it is a story that is emotional and has you so connected to the characters you are not sure where they start and you end, then this is the book for you. A story that teaches you not to take life or love for granted but to hang onto it with both hands.
This was such a hard review for me to write. I can’t remember a time when I completely disliked both MC’s. It would seem so easy in real life to just get over it (to me in any case) and so much time was spent in chapters of internal dialogue that just said the same things over and over again. I got it, he lied to you and you are hurt. I get it, you spent years wanting something you shouldn’t want (to be fair, he really shouldn’t want it) but confiding in a third party who is a sore spot was so wrong. Both of these characters lived in complete denial nearly all the way through the story. I get it, No secrets, no lies but I also get, forgiveness (perhaps never forgetting of course). In any case, there were sparks of greatness in Aubrey and Chance as well as some other characters I loved including Cody and Gage. This was a 3.5 star read for me, rounded up because I adore the author so much.
This was a break from the authors usual style, and I really missed her suspense, but it was perfect for a stand alone in something that isn’t her world.
Unfortunately, for me personally I struggled to connect with the characters, and was a bit too light for my tastes. It may just be the head space I’m in and I know many will love.
Still reccomend to read.
