Fateful Attractions by Lucretia Stanhope is a wonderful story to read. This is book number three out of sixteen in this wonderful series that I have really loved reading and can not wait to read more. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about witches, fantasy, thrillers and paranormal romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In Gwen’s latest adventure, it seems that things are looking up when she meets a handsome young witch on her vacation, one who is seemingly enamored with her. Beneath the surface, however, things are not as they seem. Dmitry is at work again, pulling the strings behind Gwen’s lover, Shane. With the new line of dead bodies turning up, Gwen hardly suspects a thing is off with her new romance. When she figures out that the connections between the murders involve her, Gwen is faced once again with Fannie in a new battle that not only endangers her but the lives of everyone she loves.
I love how throughout everything Gwen goes through that she remains true to herself and is capable of holding onto those she loves. It’s for this reason that I really hated Shane’s character and the way he manipulated her though his character was very well written. This book, like the previous in the series, was loaded with suspense, and I can’t wait to see where the author takes poor Gwen next.
Another powerful, dark story in the series. Sweet, gentle Gwen is in for some more tough love, and lots of manipulation. Dmitry, the controlling vampire who “owns” Gwen, has even worse plans for her life. Be prepared for more violence (not excessively graphic), gruesome deaths, and love and betrayal — all aimed at Gwen. You’ll feel her pain and watch her grow in her powers as she tries to take some control back in her life. You’ll cheer her on and wait for the moment when she understands the full extent of her manipulation and hope she pays back all those men in her life who make her life so miserable. Well done and enjoyable tale.
This book brings together books 1 and 2 nicely. I am beginning to feel really sorry for Gwen. She knows that she is being controlled by vampires, but has no clue as to how far her life is really being manipulated. Nobody is telling her the full truth so she doesn’t know who to trust or listen to.
In this book you find out a little more about her ancestors and what caused the family curse. I look forward to finding out even more in book 4
The third book in the series, this sequel to Blessedly Bound and Burning Captivation takes Gwen and the reader on another emotional rollercoaster of danger and discovery as she seeks answers and justice, which are equally difficult to find. There are plenty of heart-in-your-throat moments as the story unfolds, especially as the distinctions between good, bad and sheer, unrepressed evil become clearer.
As with the previous books in the series, the central mystery and some of Gwen’s questions are solved, but other challenges and quests remain for future books. There is nothing repetitive or boring about this story or this series of books. The story just keeps on developing and building with each new phase.
Yet again, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Lucretia Stanhope’s work. It’s another five stars from me.
Fateful Attractions is another great read in this series. Each book builds on one another, creating another layer of angst for Gwen. This book is fast-paced and easy to keep reading late into the night. Every time I think I’ve got it figured out, Gwen seems to find another angle for going after the bad guys. I’ve already purchased the next book, Familiar Betrayal, and am excited to see what sort of trouble finds Gwen!
