Fated by A.S. Roberts is a contemporary romance novel that I really enjoyed. It is about a girl named Francesca “Frankie” Jones, who lives in England at the start of the book. Before the story really begins we learn that Frankie’s father died when she was a young girl, and so she was raised by her aunt and uncle because her mother hadn’t had any part in raising her before her father died, and so she didn’t care to help to raise her after his death. Frankie was raised with her cousin, JJ, and they were very close, like brother and sister as well as best friends, too. We next find out that six years has passed and Frankie, who is a physiotherapist, is flying to New York City where she has been hired by a very rich man named Alex Blackmore, who is the CEO of his family’s company, to do physiotherapy with Alex’s younger brother, Nathan. Nathan is a professional motorcyclist who was injured in a race and so had to have surgery on his leg. While Frankie is sleeping on the plane, she has a very arousing dream about a man that she met eighteen months earlier in San Diego, CA, at the Naval Base there, who said his name was Jabby. Frankie met Jabby after the verdict of an enquiry was revealed concerning the death of her cousin, JJ at the age of 27, who served as a translator for the US Navy Seals in Afghanistan, but who himself was not in the military. Frankie who is a bit naive and has only had one boyfriend, has felt a romantic longing for Jabby since the day she met him. She thought that he looked like a sexy Greek God in his military uniform and she can still remember the smell of his cologne. Frankie has had many erotic dreams about Jabby since the day that she met him, and never expects that anyone that she’ll meet in the future will measure up to him.
I loved this book! It made me smile, and cry and then smile again! I really enjoyed the way that A.S. Roberts wrote many of the chapters in alternating points of view, so that we hear from both Frankie and her male lover, who I don’t want to give away. I expected that the entire book was going to be told in her point of view until I was pleasantly surprised by the lover’s point of view showing up in one of the next chapters. It is so nice to hear the guy’s version of what is happening in the story for a change! And of course, I loved the ending! This was a great book for lovers of romance that I highly recommend! You will be pleased!
I am a sucker for a good love story and this one is great!! It’s steamy, mysterious and full of twists and turns!
I love Alex and Frankie! The perfect couple. I am excited to read more of this saga.
I really enjoyed getting lost in this story, it’s intense at times even a little bit angsty but there is a lot of love and even romance. There is an undercurrent running through with a secret you know is going to hit at some point and make everything crash out of control, so it has a suspenseful feel just enough to stop it getting to sappy. There is a slight BDSM touch in the sexual content that just works for this couple even though she isn’t submissive or going to allow to much control any where else. The characters are very easy to love, the 4 main ones in this are all a little broken and damaged by things from their pasts and that gives them the vulnerable quality that I personally love, especially with the men, it makes them more human and realistic than just being very Alpha. The biggest draw for me with reading this book was a comment from the author on a photo I posted, it was about a place we both have a very strong connection to and it’s a place that plays a part in this book, so I just had to read it. The descriptions of that place are spot on, and gave me smiles, recalling my own memories of it.. It’s a place that soothes and calms no matter how wild the weather, the raw, beautiful bleakness just calls to my soul. The loneliness and lack of shops is an attraction that has me going back as often as I can and if I could choose anywhere in the world to live it would be there. So I thank the author for doing it justice, for including it this fabulous story and allowing her characters to explore a truly unique piece of coastline to cement their love. This is mainly about two people but the style of plot means that for much of it there are 4 in focus but 2 are more the main focus in book two. I loved this story as a complete tale but with the added benefit of a portion taking place in my favourite place made it a very memorable read.
I loved this book…. each and every page of it! I was hooked from the very first chapter and struggled to put my kindle down. The story is told in the dual point of view of the main characters Alex and Frankie and I loved this. This story has every emotion covered and I struggled most of the time to see where the plot was leading, which I love in a book. Great characters and a great story plus I know that there are more books in this series which will focus on the other characters and I now can’t wait to carry on reading them.
Outstanding! As Frankie accepts a dream job and relocates to NYC, she discovers a whole new world of comfort. While she works with Nathan, her patient, it’s his brother Alex (her sexy boss) that captures her attention. Although Alex remains behind the scenes, a relationship blooms. When Frankie discovers who Alex really is will it be a roadblock worth fighting for?
Alex is determined to win Frankie over. However, he has past scars that he’s trying to purge. Moreover, Frankie holds a world of grief in her own heart. Can Frankie believe in Alex? Will she trust Alex and his devotion to her? Can Alex fix his present predicament without losing Frankie? Family is everything but past hurts and obligations just might be more than these two bargained for.
A S Roberts has everything in Fated. A full length novel with laughter, tears and steamy sexy time. Fated is a story that shares the journey of two people worthy of your attention. A must read!
What an amazing introduction for me into the works of A. S. Roberts. Fated was an emotional read where you will love to hate one of the main characters. After suffering from rejection in her childhood, Frankie turns to her aunt and uncle and her cousin for the love and support she needs to regain her faith in her self. When she loses her cousin in Afghanistan, she is haunted by “Jabby”, the officer who was there when she lost her cousin and who was exonerated after the investigation into her cousins death. Fast forward to present day and Frankie is now offered a job in America to be the physio for a professional biker. Her dreams are finally coming true except one. The dream of one day meeting “Jabby” again.
A powerful story that has tempted me to read more about the lives of this group. (You will also enjoy learning some of the British slang that is contained in this book.)
