Fatal Justice – Cavendish & Walker Book 2

Once again DCI Whitney Walker and Forensic Psychologist Georgina Cavendish are re-united in the search for a serial killer.
This killer is taking down men who have been known to be attracted to young girls. especially following them on website, for young teens. These men pretend to be college students or other students … not the 40-something men they actually are.
The bodies of the victims are found mutilated, no clues left behind. Walker and her team aren’t even real sure of the motive until the killer sends a letter to a local news station. In the letter, the killer states that there are many more to follow … if the law can’t put them away, then the killer can.
This is a well-paced, action-filled, page turner. There are mixed feeling among the cops about this killer, and Walker does well in roping Cavendish in to help her determine who the vigilante is .. and who will be next.
The relationship between the two women has improved significantly since their first case together and I really enjoy how they interact with each other. Walker is still having problems with her supervisor who gives the impression that he doesn’t much care for women on the job, Walker especially.
Second in the series, it stands easily as a stand alone, but I highly recommend starting with Book 1. Watching how the characters grow, change, and expand as they work hard to solve crimes is well worth reading.
Many thanks to the author / TBC Reviewer Request Group (FB) for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Sally Rigsby has created a dynamic team with Walker and Cavendish! This book finds them working closer together to solve the many twists and turns the new criminal brings them. Ms. Rigsby’s talent as a writer really shines with the characters interactions and her ability to make the reader feel like you’re right there at the scene observing their every move.
More sleepless nights ahead as you enter this fabulous new case in her latest series.
This story has many plots in it that keeps the reader glued to the pages. Not only is there a serial killer out there leaving clues to his possible next murder, but there are the human sides of the characters that bring the reader closer to them. The storyline is written very well in my opinion and I can’t wait until the next one comes out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
What I loved: The character development is once more perfect. Everyone is believable and enjoyable. Definitely looking forward to solving more crime with these two!
Exciting! You won’t want to put it down,
The intensity of the plot is just not there compared to Ms. Rigby’s other books. The murder method is gross; the victims are well deserving of their fate; the issue is important; however, the suspense just wasn’t there for me. What I did like is the character development between Walker and Cavendish that continues the natural progression of any friendship!
Another plus: the murderer is not who is expected!
A couple of months after the ‘Campus Killer’ was caught, there’s another murder in Lenchester. The victim was a football-hero in his school days and is found dead naked with only his socks on. His private parts are amputated and are later on found cooked in his stomach. Very soon the police discover that the deceased was active in a chatroom for teenagers where he prayed on several young girls. So there ‘s more than enough suspects. Then follows another murder with the same MO. There’s hardly any cooperation from the general public, as most people seem to think that it’s a job well-done. But as in George’s own words: ‘we can’t let people get away with murder because we don’t like their victims.’
And I have to admit that this is one of the very few books where I felt more sympathy for the killer than for the detectives. Well, I want to say that I disliked the fact that it is their job to catch this killer, not that I don’t like their actual characters. Those are brilliantly done and absolutely credible. As DCI Whitney and dr. George was 2 complete opposites in the first book, now they’ve got to know each other and are slowly growing a real friendship. It’s really beautifully worked into the story. Given time they’ll be a better and more realistic policing duo than Tess Gerritsen’s Rizolli and Isles (and I am a fan of those books, a little less of the ty-series)
I received a free ARC of this book from the author and this is my completely honest review.
I read this in one day – did not want to put it down! Someone is out to get revenge upon pedophiles – and, oh, my goodness, the revenge is … you have to read it for yourself. Interesting info about the combination of police work and psychological profiling used to catch not only pedophiles, but a serial killer. I received an ARC of this book.
A good sequel. I enjoyed the developing relationship between George and Whitney. Seems as if Jamieson is even becoming a human….but then again.
Can’t wait to get started on book 3.
The second book in the series picks up a short while after the end of the first. the friendship between the two lead female characters George and Whitney has grown. It is refreshing to have an author show the friendship of two women with different strong personalities learn how to appreciate the differences. We learn more about the characters in this story and I like them more in each book.
Again we have another murder case that they work together to solve. The writing is great and again the author presents the path to solving the case in a logical manner. I enjoyed the second in the series and look forward to reading more.
I loved this book. A serial killer who targets pedophiles is a vigilante who merits out their own signature in the crimes committed and many support the killer’s justice, but it’s still illegal. The topics of pedophilia and grooming before sexual abuse are covered excellently and with sensitivity. Sally Rigby knows how to write realistic police procedurals including language real police officers use. This is an unputdownable, fascinating book.

Fatal Justice is another winner by Sally Rigby and I loved it.
I’m new to British procedurals and found I really liked the way that the story moved forward. The crime was methodically broken down and made you feel like you were right in the planning room along with the team.
Cavendish and Walker are great characters who grow over the course of the first two books in this series. They are superbly written as strong women who also have a vulnerable side.
I love the way their relationship as colleagues and friends grows. What starts out as mutual respect ends up in a relationship that fits a place each of them need.
The crime in this book was a little gruesome but written in a way that I could handle.
I thought I knew who the perpetrator was, and then the author took me on some twists and turns that had me guessing again.
Great crime drama. A copy was given to me by the author and this is an honest review.
I was lucky enough to have gotten a ARC copy of this book from the author. I am volunteering to leave this review. Fantastic book plenty of action and suspense.
This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Rigby and it definitely won’t be the last! I read this with no problem jumping right in with the characters. Will go back and read first books in series but it’s not necessary to enjoy this one. Really kept me turning the pages. Tackled the subject of pedophiles and how they operate very well. Pay attention if you have young children! All in all, a very engaging, informative read.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Cavendish and Walker are off again chasing another case . Who is helping , who is lying and who will the killer hit next. Great read you won’t want to put dosn.
