I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role.Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it’s something so easily definable. I would say I avoided bloodshed, but it’s kind of part of the whole ‘vampire’ thing.
I’ve lived on the fringes of a society that considered cruelty and sadism favorable character traits for almost five hundred years. Now I’m in the middle of a war that might just put my nonbeating heart in a lot of danger.
Battles, I can handle.
The impossible attraction between me and the vampire slayer, not to mention the penetrating gaze of the king of our race, on the other hand?
I might not get out undead.

RIVETING. CAPTIVATING. HEART-BREAKING. JAW-DROPPING. PANTY WETTING & GIRL POWER BAD-ASSERY TO THE MAX.
This book absolutely destroyed me. I’m not the kind of person who likes PNR. Mainly, because I’ve never found one that captures my interest long enough to make it past the first few chapters. But, with Fatal Harmony, I never wanted it to end. I think there are only about 3 or 4 PNRs that I’ve loved in my entire life but this one is DEFINITELY my fave by far! Move over Twilight because Fatal Harmony is here for world domination!
It’s official. I hate Anne Malcom. She has made me fall so irrevocably in love with this book & the characters only to rip my heart out at the end. I cannot deal with the cliffhanger & I am all shaken up over this book. It’s 2am and I’m crying. I don’t know what I was expecting from this book but it sure as hell wasn’t fucking THAT. This is my first book by this author and I’m over here kicking myself wondering where the hell I’ve been and wtf I’ve been doing wasting time when she was over here kicking ass with her writing. Little does she know, she’s made a stalker for life and I ain’t going nowhere. But seriously, how tf am I going to deal with life until the next book comes out? Because I’m pulling my hair out trying to contain the mindfuckery going on right now.
Holy shit. I fell in love from the first page alone. I was hooked. Intrigued. I devoured this wholeheartedly and my only regret is that it’s over. There isn’t one thing I would change about this book. Nothing. The characters were superb, complex & developed and just so goddamn hot. The detail of description and the portrayal of the storyline was fucking excellent. I could taste the blood & feel the bloodlust. I never saw NOTHING coming. Everything was intense and action packed, you never knew what was going to happen next. You’d be in the middle of an awesome scene and then BAM plot twist. I can only imagine Anne sitting at her desk, laughing like a maniac while writing this book. Cheeky devil. This is an edge of your seat read, which will literally drive you insane but you don’t care because you’ve finally managed to land yourself in a world full of supernaturals. AND LIKE IT THERE. Finally, a book that encompasses EVERYTHING a PNR should be.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Isla and her fucking sassy mouth? I swear to God, there is probably ONE moment where she’s serious. The rest is filled with her sarcastic remarks, quick retorts and her bad-ass attitude which gets her in more trouble than she likes. And always comes at the wrong time. Not a lot of people get her humour, but she doesn’t give a damn because she won’t lower herself to their standards. This girl is the epitome of bravery and strength. The very definition of good girl gone bad. Not as bad as she likes to think but bad nonetheless. In a world that loves to hate her, she stands her guard and does what she thinks is right. She puts up a brave front. Not letting anyone see her being weak. But she doesn’t realise just how much she actually does CARE. I fell in love with Isla from the get go. She’s everything a heroine should be. Everything I want to be when I grow up. I fall deeper and deeper in love with her with every word I read. Probably even more than the hero.
There are a LOT of hot men in this book. A lot! And most of the time, I sat their imagining what it would be like if they all had an orgy together. But one guy. Most importantly, the guy she SHOULDN’T love, is the guy that stands out the most. It’s a fatal love. One that’s frowned upon EVERYWHERE. But who are we to control who our heart desires? Thorne. *sigh* even saying his name gives me the tinglies. This man is soooo intense. Everything about him screams dangerous. He’s calculating and brooding & is rash with a take no prisoners attitude. He’s aggressive & possessive and so damn sexy when he’s being all alpha like & lovey-dovery with Isla. Bloody hell. This guy lit my whole damn body on fire. And the chemistry between these two? Explosive. Out of this world explosive. He loves her wholeheartedly, despite Isla’s attempts at dismissing their relationship. He won’t let her go though. He’ll scour the ends of the earth for her, and have no doubts that he’ll find her.
This book has me torn apart and I can’t even fathom how I’m going to get through this. That ending. That bloody ending. Whyyyyyy?
This is the best PNR book I have ever read in my life. And I love you Anne for bringing this into my life. However, I’m still kinda vulnerable from that cliffy so I’m still kinda hating you.
Absolutely LOVE this book. Definitely a MUST READ.
5 Undead and Fabulous Stars
I’m a big fan of Ann Malcom and after reading all of her books bar the The Vein Chronicles, as I’m not a big supernatural anymore but I wanted to tide myself over before her new release and I was looking for something to read! Wow just Wow I’m so glad I dived into them!
I cannot die, which means I cannot love. Because eternity with the shadow, with the ghost of a dead love, was a forever of death.
Fatal Harmony is the first book in this supernatural series, Isla Rominskitoff looks like she is 23 but has been a vampire for nearly 500 years and she comes from a noble Vein Line. She is one Kick-ASS, HILARIOUS and witty with a sassy mouth, leading lady.
Thorne is the slayer that wants her head or maybe her heart he hasn’t quite decided on that. Not only woul their relationship be taboo, but it would also be punishable by death!
King Emerick is one bad ass vampire with a tone of secrets and you can’t help to want to know what they are.
The most loyal are usually the most wicked. It is not our enemies we should look to to betray us, but our friends. For we do not expect loyalty from our enemies, do we? Betrayal is only birthed from loyalty. Look at Judas. And Brutus. And Brad Pitt.”
Fatal Harmony was such an exciting read, I loved it! This book is jammed packed full of vampires, slayers, witches, supernatural creatures, action, vampire politics, scheming and betrayals. It is one crazy read that ends in a huge cliffhangers… Its ok though as there is already three books in this series so you can jump straight into number 2 with one click!
Um, wow! I need more! I am definitely going to have to get Deathless now so I can find out what happens next!
This story has everything you want in a story. A kickass heroine who has the best one liners and a fabulous fashion sense, and also happens to be a vampire, a broody slayer with a body to die for and a fierce loyalty, a witch with a wicked sense of humour, a sinfully hot king… shall I go on?
I adore the characters in this story. Even Scott, who grows on you But Isla is the kind of heroine I want to read about. She’s no nonsense, quick witted, and doesn’t take crap from anyone. She has the family from hell, and a softness for humans.
But there is unrest in the vampire community, and Isla is at the top of the most wanted list.
A fantastic story that will keep you entertained and wanting more.
Isla has chemistry with everyone she comes into to contact with. She is all the things that I like in a heroine. She can kick your ass and make you laugh. I absolutely adore her sarcasm.
When she is in a scene with Thorne or Rick?? Just, WOW!!
There is so many things I want to see, but a menage/poly relationship could definitely work with these 3.
The Supernatural world here is more cutthroat than what I usually read, but after a while I was into it.
I’m hoping in the other books some of the things that I have questions about come to the forefront. I’m not even talking about the main plot points, but things such as explaining the connection between Isla and Thorne, and how Thorne has longevity (what is he really?).
Holy freaking shizzballs! Where do I start with this greatness?!! I know I am waaay behind on this series and I plan to rectify that ASAP, but give me a hot minute to catch my breath!
I will say, from the get-go, Isla, bloody love that woman!! Yes!! Woman!! Bada$$, beautiful, take no sh!t and looking hot AF as she does it!! She takes all the ideas you may have of a vampire and tips them up. No pun I intended! There is so much more than meets the eye and she does it all in fabulous style.
But of course, it’s not all sunshine and roses or moonlight and thorns (again, not another pun!). This book totally took me away! I could not put my kindle down. Anne weaves a story that has you feeling like you are right in the middle of it, and let me tell you, it took my breath away……and that last chapter?!…….
I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!
I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to start this series and now I’m hooked
What a great paranormal book I loved Isla her don’t give a crap attitude combined with her reckless personality made her a female character to fall for. I just love strong women.
The vampire and the vampire slayer sounds like a bad joke right but Isla and Thorne will have your panties melting. Changes are coming to their world evil is sometimes hidden and trusting the wrong person may just be their demise
As I said I’m hooked so onto book 2.
I am an avid paranormal fan and was so impressed with Anne Malcom’s Fatal Harmony, book one in the Vein Chronicles. Isla was everything that I love in a heroine. She was strong, sassy and sexy. I can’t wait to dive deep into this new series!
I rarely get a chance to have free reads so I was super excited to jump in on this delicious PNR series by this author. The first book had a bit of world building but nothing too intricate as immediately I fell in love with Isla and her bad self. She was sassy and took no prisoners and had combustible chemistry in spades. I seriously can’t wait for more! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula
absolutely loved this book it had so much humor and sarcasm that I could not stop laughing. I truly enjoyed this book so much and I hope you everyone will too
This was a really fun book that I thoroughly enjoyed. Isla was super funny, passionate, and went against the grain of her race. She was very entertaining with her endless humor even at the worst of times and her fierceness. She was completely badass and never apologized for the way she was. She may be my favorite vampire.
Fatal Harmony had lots of action that kept me entertained and on the edge of seat for any bit of combat I can see Isla doing. The romance was sexy and entertaining. It didn’t completely take over the story, but was a big part of the story. I liked Isla with Thorne and even the bits of attraction she feels for Emrik. I will admit that Thorne’s caveman mentality was a bit much and he used fuck wayyy to much, but I liked him overall. The threat of war among all the supernaturals made for an intriguing story. Although, I’m not sure I got enough information just yet.
So overall this was a pretty good book. It did take me a while to finish it even though I really enjoyed the story. There were some issues with the writing and grammar that need to be fixed. This was definitely an interesting start to this series.
Fatal Harmony is book one in Anne Malcom’s The Vein Chronicles series.
I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role.
Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it’s something so easily definable. A concept to fight against.
Evil doesn’t exist.
Neither does ‘good.’
Vampires do, though.
I just happen to be one.
I’ve cruised through the centuries managing to avoid all the wars, supernatural and human, but still going to all the best parties.

Holy Fangs! Isla is one Sassy KickA** Chick, she is narcissistic, immature, arrogant, insensitive, and downright F**king Hilarious.
It took me a while to get into this book, only because I had trouble getting my head around the whole Vampires are born not created. Let’s be honest we’ve all grown up on the tales of Dracula being the first Vampire and his blood needing to be drunk either before or after death for a human to become a Vampire. But Anne Malcom’s twist and take on this Supernatural Creature/Monster is definitely a tale you are going to want to read. I am so glad that I stuck this book out and was able to get into the journey that Isla takes us on. Between Thorne the Hot Forbidden Slayer Lover to Emrick/Rick the Powerful King Vampire, how is a girl suppose to be able to make her own decisions.
This book has it all love, heartache, death, betrayal, fighting, torture, blackmail and comedy. This book is such a FANTASTIC read that I can not recommend it enough. All I can say is PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stick it through. If you are like me and have trouble at the beginning with wrapping your head around the whole vampires are born and Awakenings (need to read to know what this means) do continue it as you won’t be disappointed.
“Immortality didn’t suck. Though I did. Har har.” 5BloodyStars
Every time I finish a book my Anne Malcom, I’m convinced it’s my favorite. The I pick up her next read and BAM… it knocks the previous book out of the park.
Fatal Harmony might be my favorite book that Malcom has written. I love reading PNR books. They were and always will be my first love. Fatal Harmony had EVERYTHING I look for in the paranormal romance genre.
You read this book and you will fall in love more with the main female character than you would with the men.
Isla is that woman that attracts you at first sight.
From her impecable taste in wardrobe, undead status, to her sarcastic remarks, witty comebacks, no filter mouth, tough as a freaking ox, she’s that woman you wish could exist in real life and you can befriend her forever, lol.
Just like her other books, Anne Malcom had me in tears laughing at the conversations these characters had, or the internal monologue of Isla. At the same time, this amazing author is able to write emotions so beautifully poetic and vivid that you feel and taste every emotion with these characters.
The fear, angst, anger, love, hate… Anne Malcom has the perfect writing ability to mix you in there and not let you go till there are no more pages to turn.
Fatal Harmony was simple perfection. Sexy vampires, demons, witches, werewolves, slayers, vividly written action packed scenes, beautiful friendships, steamy relationships with sexy scenes, ridiculous comebacks that have you on the floor laughing, and emotional situations that really tug at your heart… I mean, this book had it ALL.
I can’t deal with that cliffhanger!!! Thank god I get to jump right in to Deathless. I must find out what’s going to happen to my paranormal gang!
This is the 1st 5star paranormal romance I have read in a long time. I really enjoyed this story
This book introduces us to our badass heroine, Isla. Isla is a vampire nearing her 500th birthday (in a decade or so.) Isla is a complex character trying to reconcile what’s left of her humanity and the monster she was forced to become by her sadistic family (from an ancient and powerful vampire line.)
Isla would tell you that she doesn’t have friends and that she doesn’t care about anyone. Clearly, this is in the name of self-preservation once we get to meet Sophie, a witch, and Scott, who works at the call center. Isla also makes it a point to only feed from scum like murderers and rapists, and succumbs to blackmail when the lives of innocent children are threatened. Our heroine has more compassion than she’d ever admit to.
I almost didn’t read this book because the blurb alluded to a possible love triangle, and that’s just not my trope. However, I am a huge fan of Anne’s Sons of Templar MC series, so I had to at least give it a shot. I’m glad I did. While the vampire king, Emrick, may lust after Isla, it’s the slayer, Thorne, who captures her “dead black heart.” There’s really no competition.
One of my favorite things about this series so far is Isla’s sarcasm, snark, and smart mouth. She is the master at well-timed pop culture references and cutting barbs.
This book has everything I want in a PNR story and a whole lot more.
Feisty, witty heroine
Hot alphas
Plenty of action
Smoking hot chemistry
Plenty of laughs, and quite a few tears
Fantastic dialogue
I could go on and on ….
I devoured this book in one session and was left staring at the wall wondering what the hell happened after the final scene. Cannot wait for book 2
