I enjoyed reading this book and following along with Claire’s reinvention of herself. It was an interesting journey about how her body image evolved and how she starts to see herself differently. If you are struggling with being yourself, in your own skin, then check out this book.
I found the heroine an unsympathetic character. I had hoped she would find redeeming qualities within herself, but the focus was on weight loss as self-improvement. I chose to not finish the book.
This was a great book. It was entertaining and even if the reader has never been a “Fat girl” it will resonate with other struggles we all have. I highly recommend this book.
Didn’t like it.
Too much repetition!
Extremely relatable! I felt like she was reading my mind while writing this story!!
The author repeated herself way to much. I got tired and bored with the repetition
I thought this book would be entertaining, boy was I mistaken! I didn’t even finish the book.
I couldn’t finish reading this book. I found it too repetitive and boring. (Even as a “fat girl” myself.)
I felt for her as trying to lose weight and trying to please is hard I couldn’t put it down and a happy ending great book
Separation, divorce, eating disorders, dating trials and tribulations. Not all light topics but a great foundation for a realistic love story that reminds us to start by respecting and loving ourselves.
I really enjoyed this book! Sarcasm and quick wit with some gut wrenching moments thrown in. You will relate so well with Claire, you’ll think she’s part of you. Come along as she’s she “reinvents” herself before she turns 40! You may even learn a thing to two. I know my new saying is “Time to awaken my Willpower and head back to the battle!”
I love her writing style she is spot on with the humor and adventures we all face traveling thru life! You fall in love with her characters!
If you know anyone who thinks they are fat and compulsively diets, this read will give you a clue into their psyche. It is also honest and inspirational about the pain of divorce. It is very witty, with true to life characters; you won’t want to put it down.
Following the heroine’s challenge to empower herself was inspiring and note worthy. The writer’s skill with words is much appreciated as well.
Self absorbed ramblings posing as a novel. I can’t see how this would be empowering to people strugglimg with weight issues. Claire’s weight loss strategies were at best unrealistic and at worst extremely unhealthy. To classify this as a romance is questionable. Go ahead and read it if you like to feel depressed. Not for me.
I lo loved the story. It is so true about the feelings of most fat females a nd what we must endure.
Struggled to read it and wound up skimming a bunch. Pleasant read but something about it didn’t click with me. Maybe because I’m a large girl who doesn’t see herself as a fat girl
Not very interesting.
Thank you for this lovely, impeccable, well written book. The author is indeed a Wordsmith. Loved Claire’s reinvention journey along with her self-deprecating humour and her struggles. It resonated with my weighty issues, although I fall on the other side of the scale, being skin and bones. I found answers to some of the things I was struggling with by simply reading Claire’s story/monologue. A must read. Thanks again.
Although I don’t struggle, much, with weight, it was both entertaining and helpful to understand someone (fictional) with a weight issue.
Thanks
