The night I met Greer Palmer was no coincidence.
The plan was perfect.
Everything was in place. All I had to do was get her attention and the rest would take its course.
What I didn’t plan was my reaction the first time she spoke.
“Are you okay?”
Three little words…
That’s all it took for her to steal my breath and shatter every thing I’d expected.
She was supposed to be a spoiled socialite, a pampered princess, an elite heiress– anything other than the striking beauty that blew my misconceptions to pieces.
One kiss and I became obsessed.
One night and I became addicted.
One month and she became my world.
Suddenly, my plan wasn’t so perfect.
To her, I am sunset kisses, whispers of seduction, and promises of forever.
It’s all a lie…
I’m Lawson Hall.
My name and reputation speaks for itself as one of the most successful architects in the industry. Conceited, arrogant, egotistical, ruthless– I’ve earned it all.
In reality, I’ve bided my time, done my job, and waited my turn.
Now is my chance.
Greer thinks we met by accident, but she’s wrong.
Once the lies are exposed, will the truth be enough?

Ahren Sanders writes another wonderful romance with complex characters and sharp witty banter.
Lawson Hall’s career is on the line, he needs to make sure he gets the account his families firm is after. He has a plan in place to try to get information from Greer Palmer. Greer is not the socialite Lawson thought she was and she doesn’t make any references to who exactly she is. The one thing Lawson didn’t expect though was to fall head over heels for Greer and when she finds out who he really is it will destroy everything they are building even if the beginning was made up of a lie.
This was wonderful. You are waiting for the other shoe to drop with Lawson and it kept you on pins and needles. I loved Greer, she is sweet and you feel for her where Lawson is concerned. Another great read from this talented author.
Fat Cat Liar is the first book I’ve read by Ahren Sanders and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised! I really loved the premise of this book. It’s creatively written and you can definitely tell that Ms. Sanders put a lot of thought and research into it.
If you are looking for a wonderfully written love story, then this is definitely the book for you! I was hooked immediately, I couldn’t put this book down and I didn’t want it to end. Lawson and Greer’s story is full of depth, passion and romance. There were some really hilarious moments coupled with angst and there were times when I was biting my nails and on the edge of my seat.
I really enjoyed Fat Cat Liar and I am certainly looking forward to reading more books from Ms. Sanders.
Oh, Lawson Hall, how I love you. You start Fat Cat Liar with ruthless determination and willing to use unscrupulous methods in order to get close to Greer and get to her father, but you’re brought to your knees by love. I love a hero, who falls hard and grovels well! He and Greer are fantastic together, and Fat Cat Liar is a fun, low-angst, sexy and heartfelt romance. This is my first time reading Ahren Sanders but definitely not my last!

Fat Cat Liar – Ahren Sanders
This is my first read of an Ahren Sanders book and I’m kicking myself for that……. where have you been Ahren.
The story of Greer and Lawson’s romance is one that will take you to the heights and depths of your emotions.
They’re both passionate characters, of course with flaws but you can help loving them and the crazy menageries if Greer’s Nerd Herd friends.
This story is centred on Lawson trying to secure a major building contract for his families firm, with Greer being the key to the prize cabinet, but moreover, it explores a deeper connection between them, with Lawson learning more about himself than he ever thought possible. The spoilt, egotistical playboy, really learns that he has a heart.
I thoroughly enjoyed every word, sentence, paragraph, chapter…. everything about this book and hope that the Nerd Herd get to have their own stories.
My thoughts as I cracked open Fat Cat Liar: Man, I don’t know if I can deal with starting out a book knowing the guy’s straight up lying to the girl. All right, Ahren, let’s see how this goes.
And boom, I was immediately pulled into Lawson and Greer and their romance. Immediately pulled into the devious plan Lawson put into action. Immediately pulled into the orbit of Greer and her aura of awesome.
And when I say immediately, I mean from the first words. Seriously. I could not put Fat Cat Liar down once I started reading. I had to know what happened with Lawson and Greer. Had to know how the truth would unfold. Had to know how the groveling would play out. Had to know if they got to their happily ever after. Had. To. Know. Everything.
And wow. Just wow. I adored that lying bastard Lawson Hall. I understood his motive and I loved how he became completely enamored with Greer. And Greer. I loved her big heart and brilliant brain. And, I want to be part of the Nerd Herd and have that amazing circle of friends.
Lawson and Greer aren’t perfect, but they’re perfect for each other—in and out of the bedroom. Seriously swoony moments as Lawson romanced Greer. I loved it so much and I am hoping there will be more stories from this amazing group of characters.
Loved this book!
When I started reading the story, I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure what I was reading. I was curious to see where the story went. The title FAT CAT LIAR threw me off, but I knew that I would love it because Ahren wrote it. That being said… oh, how I loved Greer and Lawson. I seriously couldn’t get over their story or their connection.
Greer is an amazing female lead. She’s fierce, she’s beautiful, and she knows what she wants. She isn’t what people expect her to be, which I think made her character even better. She loves those that are important to her fiercely and protects her family wealth perfectly.
Lawson on the other hand? He’s arrogant, but he’s also caring. He has this side to him you aren’t expecting. He loves hard, so man does he love hard. Head over heels, hard. It was beautiful to watch. But, that arrogant side is also present and it makes you want to smack him.
Their story wasn’t typical for me. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions- love, heartache, liars, and starting over. One minute you’re laughing at how beautiful their story is and how they are together and the next minute you’re wanting to go smack Lawson for being a butt.
I couldn’t help but love every part of their story. It was perfect for them and made their story so much more unique and fitting.
What do you do when your relationship is built on a foundation of lies? Lawson is your traditional playboy. Women were a means to an end. He told them what he needed them to hear and believe to get what he wanted. Greer was no exception to this at first. She would be the in he needed to cinch this deal with her father’s company. What he did not plan on was his ice cold heart melting the moment he got to know Greer. Greer had a few secrets under her belt as well but they were to protect herself and her father’s privacy. What will happen when secrets are revealed and lies are uncovered? Will they be able to find their way back to each other, to forgive, to survive? I never thought I could love a liar! Ahren Sanders has this way about her that makes even the most rotten scoundrels work their way into your heart.

Fat Cat Liar is a perfect example of why Ahren Sanders is one of my favorite authors. Her beautiful writing paired with a story that grips you from the very start creates a magical combination that kept me glued to this book for hours. I stayed up late into the night unable to put this book down because I absolutely HAD to know what was going to happen next! I got not one thing done while reading this and I regret nothing. Greer and Lawson’s story is just that addictive. From romance so sweet it brings a tear to your eye to secrets that have you on edge with anticipation wondering what is going to happen, Fat Cat Liar has it all!
Lawson seems like your typical arrogant and uncaring man. Hell bent on proving himself his take no prisoners attitude is thrown for a loop when Greer comes into the picture. With kindness that radiates from her, Greer is nothing he expected when he worked his way into her life. These two have an instant attraction that runs much deeper than just lust and the heart meltingly sweet love that blooms between them is pure beauty. Betrayal, heartbreak, forgiveness, family, friends, and soul deep love all come together is this unputdownable story.
5 STARS FOR FAT CAT LIAR!! This story was captivating, it grabbed my attention from the first page. The story had all the feels and the deceit was phenomenal, it keeps you invested. Greer and Lawson have a fantastic story to tell you and you need to hear it. Ahren Sanders is a beautiful storyteller that hooks you into her story land. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
“Living a double life and falling for a woman I have no right to be.”
Told in a dual POV, Fat Cat Liar sucks you straight into the story and Lawson Hall’s plan to gain a foothold into a project that will make or break his career with the family architecture and construction business. He wants to impress the project’s owner, so Lawson plans to meet the owner’s daughter.
Greer is an amazingly strong woman. She’s generous, caring and loving, and as a personal shopper, her clients are women with severe illnesses, and her aim is to make them still feel great about themselves. She’s also intensely private, and not many outside of her close friends know who her family is.
It is hard to put into words how easy Ahren makes it to read a book that is in-depth yet moves quickly. The intensity of emotions between Lawson and Greer is just that – intense, hot, and fast. Tension builds, and then it is released with humorous moments between some awesome supporting characters.
Then comes the moment where my heart breaks, right along with Greer’s and Lawson’s, even though I knew it had to happen. This is where the strength of Ahren’s characters show through. They are written beautifully, and it was more than a pleasure to read their book.
Both Lawson and Greer are surrounded by people who absolutely love them to a fault. They both come from successful families, and unlike a lot of books, their fathers are also amazing men. Both men absolutely loved the women in their lives, yet lost them too early, they are both hard workers, hard cases, love their kids unconditionally, and both are firm but fair. It is almost hilarious the extent that Lawson’s brother Clay, and their father will go, to in order to save his backside after he f*
Fat Cat Liar by Ahren Sanders is the story of Greer Palmer and Lawson Hall.
Lawson was all about getting ahead in the family business..nothing was off the table. Lawson was also a hard love him and leave him guy where no commitment was his commitment. When Lawson works on learning all he can about a possible business deal he doesn’t stop at using the man’s daughter…Greer. Lawson has never met Greer but assumes she is a hard-nosed Social-light and a easy mark to get information out of. Lawson moves into an apartment across from Greer where he stages needing help moving in a bed. What he doesn’t except is for her to be a down to earth beautiful women who cares for others. Her first words to him showed that. The more he gets to know Greer the more he starts to change into someone that is good enough for her but he also has dug himself into a whole. Greer doesn’t play off being rich or having a powerful father…in fact she tries to keep that low key since she has been hurt by people using her before because of it. So Lawson finds that he might have total changed but will Greer believe him?
I so enjoyed their story…I couldn’t put it down until I finished it!
Loved this book-the story, characters. But what I loved the most is that the author focused as much attention to the aftermath of the big blow up as she did building up to it. Most authors don’t do this in a standalone. Highly recommend this book!
The book had me falling for Greer and Lawson’s relationship. Greer had some awesome friends all of them accomplished so much with there careers . Lawson did screw up big time. So many opportunities to tell the truth. Lawson did redeem himself towards the end of the book.
4 1/2 out of 5 stars
Lawson Hall is a jerk with a capital J. All he wants is to fix his mistake and move up in his company and Greer Palmer is the perfect pawn in his game…until he realizes it’s no longer a game and he has real feelings for her.
This book had great flow and the characters were both likable — despite Lawson’s original jerk-ness, he’s really a great guy and he truly falls head over heels for Greer and the way he treats her just melted my heart!!
This author creates worlds that capture you whole as you’re reading and the characters really make you want to reach out for them. This story had sme twists and turns – some that were expected and some that weren’t – but the entire novel just kept me wanting to read the next page..and the next and the next!!
As a stand-alone, it was great, but wouldn’t it be perfect if we got some more books from the Nerd Herd?!?! I would totally be okay if this book was turned into a series of stand-alone novels! I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next because everything I’ve read of hers I’ve LOVED!
*** I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
Intriguing and captivating romance
Lawson Hall is a high-stakes player. At least when it comes to his family’s business, Morris Construction. Lawson is ambitious, aggressive and will do anything to land contracts for the company. To draw the winning bid on the Palmer proposal, Lawson is willing to play dirty, and that means getting close to Greer Palmer and finding the inside scoop to the project. Greer is the daughter of Kevin Palmer, businessman and billionaire extraordinaire of Palmer Enterprises. But when he locks eyes with the beauty, Lawson can’t deny an attraction to her. Guilt and apprehension surround Lawson’s plan in gaining a foothold that might make or break his career. What he never expected was to lose his heart.
Greer Palmer is brilliant, generous and a savvy businesswoman. Though her expertise is in science and architecture, her passion leads to a career helping people find fashion choices that help them feel whole again after cancer treatments. Greer is drawn to Lawson like no other man has ever before. But will she be heartbroken after she finds the truth about Lawson? Will she be able to trust in Lawson after all is said and done?
Ms. Sander’s exquisite storytelling draws you in Fat Cat Liar. It is well-written with developed characters and a great storyline. I love the assortment of secondary characters. Greer’s friends are nerdy, quirky and endearing. I love how Greer’s character is down to earth and very private, but so generous in nature. I laughed, cried and my heart broke, but what a wonderful and satisfying ending. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
When I first started reading Ahren Sanders’ Fat Cat Liar, I didn’t quite know what to expect. I had never heard of the ‘fat cat’ expression before, but once Sanders provided me with the term’s definition, it clearly depicted who her hero, Lawson Hall, was and based on his less than gentlemanly reasons for befriending Greer Palmer and his inability to fess up to the depth of his deceit, the last word in the title fell into place, projecting a less than stellar opinion of Lawson, which could definitely sway readers and characters alike to refuse to see past his betrayal despite the truth of his feelings for Greer.
Ahren Sanders made it perfectly clear, early on, that Lawson’s stereotypical view of Greer’s ‘spoiled princess’ lifestyle was completely inaccurate, and while it was those misconceptions that allowed him to use her as a means to an end when it came to a business deal, the fact that Lawson kept up the ruse as long as he did even while growing to care for Greer in genuine ways will definitely not sit well with those who love Greer, both her family and friends as well as readers who immediately recognized the amazing and beautiful woman Greer is, inside and out.
Through much of the story, I questioned Lawson’s outward behavior versus his internal conflict. I needed to understand why he continued to, in a way, ‘play’ Greer even though Sanders illustrated how quickly his mind changes after his first few interactions with her. I definitely think this might be a point of contention for some readers when it comes to accepting Lawson as a book boyfriend, but I do feel that Sanders proves just how much Greer changes Lawson through his actions, which means that even if he keeps the truth hidden until it’s no longer an option, he does show how much Greer means to him despite their relationship being built on lies and deception, and if readers can reserve judgment until Lawson demonstrates his remorse, his heartache, and his transformation due to Greer’s influence then they’ll be able to believe that Greer becomes his ultimate end game despite its original intent.
The fact that Greer Palmer is an heiress to a billion dollar company is so far removed from who she truly is, so it makes sense that she keeps that information close to the vest and only has an inner circle of friends who know her full story. Greer is an amazing heroine – one who is her own person with her own goals despite the type of woman she could be due to her father’s success. Greer is the antithesis to every stereotypical attribute for a woman who comes from money, and while, at times, she appears to be too good to be true, Sanders develops her character in a way that leaves no argument about exactly who and what matters most to her, and when Lawson’s lies are revealed, she makes him work for EVERYTHING, which proves how strong of a woman Greer is because even when her heart is breaking, she endures…she fights for herself and doesn’t give in even when she wants to despite all of the pain that Lawson put her through because when it comes down to it, she sees how much he’s changed and realizes that the risk just might be worth it.
The Lawson Hall readers meet at the beginning of Ahren Sanders’ Fat Cat Liar is not the same man who ends up fighting for love instead of his job once his lies and end game are revealed. Now that’s not to say that he still doesn’t have some a-hole tendencies or a healthy confidence that makes him seem like quite an arrogant jerk. But it’s that growth…that transformation that allows me to see past his deception and recognize the man he became due to his ulterior motives to get close to Greer for financial gain.
#NerdHerd4Life
I can’t write my review for Fat Cat Liar without mentioning the supporting characters, especially the Nerd Herd. This group of five intelligent, close-knit friends share an amazing bond and they use their collective brain power to accomplish monumental projects. I absolutely adored their commitment to each other and the fact that they brought such diverse qualities to the group showcases who each one is separately and how much they can accomplish when those characteristics are brought together. Theirs is a fierce friendship and it’s one that they could surely not live without.
Ahren Sanders’ Fat Cat Liar illustrates just how life-altering true love can be and what people are willing to do, both in positive and negative ways, to hold onto the other half of their heart. Lawson and Greer’s story is told through both of their perspectives, which means that readers are thoughtfully immersed into a journey that is heartwarming, heartbreaking, and so emotionally rich that readers can’t help but fall in love with both of them, even if we may also want to knock some sense into a particular sexy, possessive liar!
4.5 Poison Apples
Wow this book just about wrecked me!!! But in such a good way that I’m in a book hangover that I can’t afford to be in!! But I should have known better. Ahren always does this to me her writing is just so superb and her stories will just take you away to another world and you will want to stay there forever. And make sure when you start one of her books you have plenty of time to read the entire book because you will not put it down until it’s done. Now when you first meet Lawson you are not going to like him very much at all but you slowly start to fall for him. But the farther he goes into his rabbit hole the more you know it’s not going to turn out very well at all. Greer has to protect herself from people because of who her father is. And when she meets Lawson she thinks it’s all coincidence. And starts to slowly fall in love with him. But when all the secrets come out it totally breaks her in more ways than one. This is a beautifully heartbreaking book about learning what’s really important in life. And to never hold on to secrets because you could possibly lose the best things in life. You will laugh and you will cry but most of all you will be inspired to never lie! I love this book and highly recommend this book!!! – By Tina
