He saves her while she is saving a puppy………and the puppy ends up saving them both
Fashionably Date is the fifth book in the Do-Over Date Series by Susan Hatler. This is a sweet and very clean (no knocking boots or panty melting scenes in this one) romance story about Missy Peters and Nick Zanbini. They both have baggage that they are dragging from previous relationships. For her it was a cheating ex-fiance and for him it was an insecure girlfriend who thought he was cheating. Missy is starting over in a new city and with a new business. Nick owns a gym. When he rescues her while she is rescuing a puppy things spark but it is a slow burn as they journey along the road to a HEA.
I enjoyed Fashionably Date as it is a sweet, fun, and light story even though both characters are dealing with some emotional scars that they need to put to bed in order to have a future. I liked that they first were in a business relationship that allowed them to be in each others lives without the pressure of a romantic relationship, even though they were both thinking about it. Susan Hatler’s books are great as a light read between heavier and darker books as she is always able to bring humor into her stories and characters.
I love this author’s stories because they are so realistic, so believable and relatable. In this case, we have two good people whose past relationships affect their ability to trust the current one completely. For Missy Peters, her ex-fiancé pulled the rug out from under her confidence when he cheated on her before the wedding. Therefore, she will be more sensitive to anything that makes her doubt or question. She needs reassurance, at least until she learns she can trust. She opens an upscale clothing boutique in another city to start over. Trying to save a puppy that runs into traffic, she herself has to be rescued by gym owner Nick Zambini who pulls her to safety. For Nick, his insecurity is an ex who constantly thought he was cheating. So being questioned when he had done nothing wrong was a sore spot for him.
Nick and Missy decide that their businesses can complement each other if they work together. Although Missy is supportive of the idea, she is still not ready to trust. That will take time and reinforcing experiences. So when she questions Nick about something that bothers her, it brings up his defensiveness as each of them responds to a trigger from the past. Will being with Nick help her to trust enough to take a chance on love? Or will his not being straightforward when she needs an answer push her away?
The story line is really good, the characters are likable, and the reader can understand their reactions. Better communication would be helpful, but those who fear getting hurt usually withdraw rather than talk about it. Grab your copy and see how these two will respond. Can they get a HEA or will fears make that impossible?
A fun and romantic story line you can’t help but enjoy reading. Lovable characters that are relatable and fun. Well written and flows smoothly through the pages captivating the reader til they read the last word. A perfect read for summer so grab your copy today and enjoy!

I have not read a bad book from this author yet and this book is no exception! The great plot and character development kept me so engaged throughout the entire book that I had a very hard time putting this book down until the very last page was turned!

I had a great time with Missy and Nick’s characters. Missy has been hurt before will she open her heart to Nick and discover her soul mate? I had a great time navigating through the pages to find out.

Missy and Nick meet in the most unusual way. Nick jumps out into the street to save her as she’s saving a puppy. She’s been hurt by her ex cheating and just doesn’t know if she can trust anymore. Will she open her heart to Nick or ruin a good thing?

I binged this series this past week so I could read this story. The series does overlap with characters, but you could read this as a stand alone. This has been a fun series of quick reads. It’s perfect for when you don’t have a lot of time to invest in a book. Missy is a fun character. She has trust issues, but she is also a sweet independent woman. She’s knocked off her feet by Nick and he is such a great character as well. There are some mixed signals, but thanks to the wonderful Courtney Carmichael they get straightened out. Courtney is a fun character in this series and I hope she gets a HEA story.
As a side note, there is a couple mentioned that isn’t part of this series. I was interested in their story as well. It took a little hunting, but I finally found it. If anyone is interested in Claire and Alex’s story, it’s in Forever in A Kiss. I haven’t read it yet, but the blurb says it includes Missy and her ex-fiance, which makes me even more interested.
This book was so quick to read but gave me all the feels. The characters were so real with their feelings and the HEA just made their story perfect!

Loved how Missy and Nick meet. While they are so attracted to each other Missy is hesitant to give love another chance- ex-fiance cheated on her. Loved how they combined business with a romance. The angst was upsetting – thought he should have understood why she was upset. Grand gestures on both parts was the best ending ever. I am so hoping the coffee cart owner Courtney Carmichael gets her own book!!!

I liked Nick and Missy, who mixed business with pleasure. I enjoyed that ,although the sparks were flying, that they were both cautious. Missy was just getting over her breakup with her cheating ex and was reluctant to start a new romantic relationship, but fate intervened. Missy and Nick, with the help of our favorite coffee seller, find their way past misunderstandings to their HEA. I would definitely recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is the love story between Nick and Missy. A puppy and business deal bring these two together. They have a lot of chemistry between them but trust has to be worked on. I thought this story was sweet and steamy. The book was well written, as Susan always does them.

Funny and witty. I loved the banter and the characters were well developed and funny. It’s a sweet and safe story so if you are looking for something clean to help you get away from life for a while, this is it.
Missy couldn’t trust men again after she caught her fiancé with her maid of honor. Former model now owned her own high end clothing store. Nick owned some fitness gyms and other businesses. When he saved Missy after she bravely tried to save a puppy from being hit Their fun and exciting romance led them through ups and downs because Missy has her demons to push through. Good read.

A sweet, fun romance
I have known for years that I can rely on Susan Hatler for fun, romantic stories that are just perfect for a couple hours of escape. So I am always happy to grab her new books when they are available!
Thrown together when Missy rescues a puppy and Nick rescues Missy, they are instantly attracted to one another. Though Missy is determined to never trust a man and never enter into a relationship again, she figures spending time with the handsome gym owner isn’t going to hurt, right?
Nick was the ultimate swoony hero. Tall, dark, and handsome, with an Italian accent to boot. Add to that that he was a classy dresser and loved the opera (okay, I’d be fine without that one!), art, and knew how to create a romantic atmosphere. Nice!
I didn’t quite understand how Nick, if he had the impeccable fashion sense that he apparently did, would not have seen how badly his athletic wear line would clash with the boutique offerings in Missy’s store. For that to work better, he shouldn’t have had such great taste.
With everything going so well between them, it was inevitable for problems to arise; after all, how boring would the story be with no conflict. As both Missy and Nick have trust issues – she with trusting a man, him with hurt over not being trusted – you guessed it, this was the area of contention. While I could see why each reacted the way they did, I felt that Nick was a bit unreasonable when he pretty much just insisted Missy trust him with no explanation.
With both Nick and Missy being interested in fashion and art, and with both being on the wealthy side, they did come across as a little superficial and shallow, though I think that was more because of the author’s emphasis on them having an interest in those things in common rather than because of who they were.
If you enjoy short, sweet, swoony romances, make sure you consider Fashionably Date.

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Who says you can’t mix business with pleasure? Nick and Missy mixed a little business with pleasure when he talked her into a cross-promotion of his gym and her upscale clothing boutique. If you like meet-cutes they have a fun one. Nick saves Missy from falling, not once, but twice!!
Nick is a charmer and super swoony, but Missy’s got major trust issues since her ex-fiance cheated on her with her maid of honor, so when Nick keeps a few things a secret she almost throws their blossoming relationship in the trash, so to speak. I liked Missy and completely understood her trust issues, but she was smart enough to listen to good advice from her friends. These two characters oozed chemistry–I could almost feel it through my Kindle.
I’m really enjoying this Do-Over Date series. The stories are clean romances short enough to enjoy in an afternoon or evening, and they always have a happy ending which is alway a plus in my book.
This was a lovely installment in the do over date series. I loved the characters and the way this story came together. The humor and the romance kept me reading almost none stop because I did not want to wait to read more of this clean romance. This clean story left me anxiously awaiting the next installment in the series though this can be read as a standalone.
Former supermodel, Missy, has been cheated on (and by her fiance, no less), so she’s got trust issues. A funny first meet with Nick literally almost knocks her off her feet, but he’s all business.
I enjoyed the way Nick was able to worm his way into Missy’s life through his business propositions by using charm and attraction. I loved the chemistry that was palpable between this couple and eagerly devoured those passages, but there were a few too many repetitions for me and there were a couple of random occurrences that bothered me a little, as they felt accidental to me.
Hatler always does a great job of bringing a side of humor to her plate of romance and the fun characters are the cherry on top. It’s always a tasty treat to immerse myself into one of her stories for an afternoon and this one was no different. This series is comprised of short stories, but they always leave me feeling satisfied. Although there were a few small detours, this was still an enjoyable read.
Content: mild romance

I really enjoyed this short romance. I liked the tie ins to Blue Moon Bay. I loved recognizing previous characters of Hatler’s and getting to know new ones. I liked watching these two on their journey to business together and romance. It was a fun and flirty novella.
