Phoebe needs a second chance at life. In the aftermath of the devastation from her failed marriage, Phoebe returns to her old stomping grounds to open her own bed and breakfast. Starting over is the bravest thing she’s ever done – or so she thinks. But opening her front door to find a blast from her past on her front porch changes all that. The teenager she’d once known has become a jaw-dropping, … known has become a jaw-dropping, dominant man in his prime.
He wasn’t looking for a relationship until she blazed back into his life.
Graham runs his own construction business, remodeling homes, and building brand new ones. When his buddy gives him a lead on a new project, he never expects to run into Phoebe, the woman he shared a single kiss with eons ago. Nor is he prepared for the Dominant in him to stake his claim before the end of their first meeting. He wanted her in high school but there had been too wide a gulf separating them. Now, Graham will stop at nothing until he makes her his. But there are larger forces at work, attempting to tear them apart.
When everything Phoebe holds dear becomes a target, Graham will risk it all for the one woman he knows he can never live without.
Publisher’s Note: This steamy second chance romance contains elements of power exchange.

Phoebe is starting over after escaping from an abuse marriage. Dominant Graham never forgot the girl from high school and is thrilled to have a second chance. This is an amazing story about healing after years of abuse. Graham is a loving and caring character that is perfect for Phoebe. I loved these characters together. This is a great story that has a bit of a suspenseful twist and surprises.

Crescent City Kings 2
I have read several stories by this author in the past but none hit me as hard as this one. I realized that even if this was a work of fiction, there are too many women like Phoebe. How she managed to survive without breaking is a miracle. Luckily Graham was there to help her completely heal. Would I recommend this story? Most definitely! One of my most favorite lines of the story is from Graham- “Holding Phoebe was like a key sliding into the correct lock and finally opening”.

I loved this book. The story was well written and the characters were complex and relatable.
Phoebe MacKenzie is starting over after years of abuse by her exhusband. She purchased the Riverland Plantation with the intention of turning it into a bed and breakfast. Graham Layton is the contractor that was recommended to her. He also is the first boy who ever kissed her and who she had a huge crush on as a teenager. He also is a Dom, former Army pilot and divorced from a cheater. Their mutual attraction reignited but she is still terrified of men. He helps her learn to trust him and they have a relationship where he gradually introduces her to the BDSM lifestyle. Her dream is threatened when her B&B is broken into and her cottage is set on fire. Graham is able to save her from being abducted and killed. They get their HEA.

Good story 3 ½ stars – It has a good story but often, the characters are in their head so there is not much dialogue between. The mystery of who is jeopardizing the B&B was interesting. The steamy sex and believable attraction is there to hold your attention too. I like the story but I wish it has more conversations between Phoebe and Graham. Another great book from Anya Summers. The story was compelling and interesting with vivid descriptions that painted pictures in my mind. There was just enough danger to create some suspense and a need for protection. The main characters were well developed and likeable and I felt like I knew them. I really enjoyed the romance and the development of their relationship. The love seemed to jump off the pages. I also enjoyed the familiarity of the characters from the first book. I can’t wait for the next one!

Phoebe is creating a new life for herself after a dangerously abusive marriage. Her dreams of rebuilding and creating a bed and breakfast from an old mansion are about to come true. All she wants is to see her dreams of her bed and breakfast come true, that is – until she hires a contractor to work on the mansion and realizes he is Graham her high school cruss and first kiss.
Graham a successful contractor is going thru the motions of life, but is he really happy?
Graham a strong alpha male feeds a strong need to protect Phoebe and she feels a strong attraction to Graham, a surprise to her after suffering life threatening abuse in the past and never expecting to feel love again.
This book navigates the couples feelings and struggles to overcome past hurts, huge differences in sexual appetites and hidden dangers threatening Phoebe. These is plenty of steamy scenes, mystery , danger and a great cast of characters that can be revisited in other books in the series.

I really loved this book. It was beautifully written and the characters were so easy to fall in love with. The story had just the right amount of action, suspense, cruel reality and hot steamy scenes!
Loved it!
What an amazing story of healing, trust and thriving after the most nightmarish life spent with an abuser. The story is so compelling, driven and full of understanding and love. The characters are just amazing. Although this book could be a trigger for some, I found it empowering to see how strong a person can be after such abuse. Amazing writing by an amazing author.

This book, the 2nd in the Crescent City series is completely standalone. It tells the story of Phoebe who has escaped an unbelievably bad marriage to make a new life for herself, complete with her dream of opening a B&B. In doing so, she reconnects with old friend Graham. This story gives Phoebe an unbelievably awful domestic history that I wish I could say would never happen. Unfortunately though, it is all too common. I found this a wonderful read even though I personally found some sections difficult to read but it is as much about Phoebe’s strength as it is a wonderful romance.
So this was a free ARC from one of my favorite authors to read for, plus booksprout for my voluntary honest review of this book and I so enjoyed it! Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down til I finished it.And it was so worth it! What a read! I so love reading this authors books and look forward to seeing more from her in the future! I truly loved this book, Anya Summers truely has written another winner in my opinion. The City Cresent Kings really are a delight, each male although Dominant knows when his women is submissive and also knows how to handle a women who has had a bad time in her life. Graham a construction builder and in his own time a Dominant, is given a number for a women who wants her house fixed up, and when he gets there , there stands a beautiful women whom he recognizes as Phoebe with whom he shared a wonderful kiss with.
Phoebe has come back home, picking up the pieces, learning to be a strong women who can make her own decisions. Her ex husband tried to kill her, and is in jail for murder and her abuse.
She sees Graham at the door and is assailed with memories long gone. She hires him to do her villa up, but is unaware that she is been stalked, till dead animal bodies are found on her property. Sparks fly between them both and a love is kindled again, but it takes courage for her to be with him, can she overcome her fears?
A must read, it really is a great book, 5 plus stars and i have to say im looking forward to the next book which comes out.
I sometimes wonder if, as a survivor of domestic abuse, I am more drawn to stories about that and the way other survivors thrive – and Phoebe certainly thrives! One morning, she opens the door to Graham, whom she hasn’t seen since high school. After a bad marriage, Graham limits his “relationships” to scenes at the BDSM club in which he’s a Dom. This book is about two incredibly strong people forging a relationship against their own histories, and it is a demonstration of trust and honor. The characters and situations are well-written, and Phoebe and Graham come alive. There is danger, but there is also a HEA.

Phoebe made it thru her horrific marriage with emotional and physical scars, but she is free. When she meets her high school crush again, she is torn. She doesn’t want a relationship, but he is still her crush. Graham is a dominant. Can he show her that his Dom side will cherish her? A good romance.

Phoebe’s trust is rewarded!
by sewsummore
Phoebe was a woman who had survived an abusive husband who almost killed her the last time he punished her for the rage he carried inside him. Years later she is a much stronger woman who hides her pain deep inside her, refusing to allow any man close until she met Graham. He was a surviver of a bad marriage, content to have his sexual needs catered for by willing submissives who belonged to his BDSM Club. Not until Phoebe had he felt such an attraction to a woman, or the need to protect her from her past and ease her fears of the future. I enjoyed reading this book and delighted in the loving care and attention Graham showered on Phoebe. His restraint made her trust him and the respect he gave her proved to her that he was a man she could trust.

Having read other books by this author, this one was a little different in that it was almost a slow burn romance. This is not a bad thing as I think it was appropriate given the background of Phoebe in particular although Graham has had his fair share of emotional trauma from his previous relationship. There may be some triggers for some readers from Phoebe’s relationship with her ex-husband. There is an element of suspense and mystery that I enjoyed although I did feel the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly as some results were not fully addressed. I had questions! Looking forward to Quinten and Dante’s stories!
I received a copy from Booksprout. This is my unbiased review.
Wow! What a story! Suspense and action packed story is awesome. This story tugs at your tears and heart. Then it has a little laughter and a women learns how to treat people again. Anya Summers has written another fabulous story with steam so the reader is very pulled into the story quickly. I couldn’t stop once I started this book! Great reading for anyone over 18+

Second change in love and life
Graham and Phoebe shared an unexpected kiss during high school but the age difference then meant they each went their separate ways. Now Phoebe is back and Graham walks back into her life as her contractor. Both have scars (emotionally and for Phoebe, physically) from previous relationships. I would add a trigger warning for Phoebe’s past trauma. Their relationship journey is paced perfectly for the emotional growth that leads to physical intimacy. I appreciated Graham’s patience and understanding, while Phoebe showed courage in taking next steps. The story did not feel forced or paced incorrectly for the past trauma. I loved the HEA.

A really lovely story of two people who had been betrayed in their marriages coming together for a second chance. It shows the courage and trust needed between two people to make a relationship work. From a kiss at 14 to entering the lifestyle, Phoebe has suffered more than than most of us can imagine and yet she is able to trust Graham enough to submit to his dominance and let herself fall in love with him. Graham for his part had been deceived by his wife and yet he fell in love with Phoebe as soon as he saw her again even though he hadn’t wanted a relationship. He was patient and kind and Daisy trusted him and soon so did Phoebe. A real twist at the end takes the reader by surprise but a beautiful happy ending.
I love this book so much! Phoebe restarts her life in her home town. Graham I reunited with her, while fixing her home. There’s danger, suspense, true love, freedom, great second chance romance. Being with the right person makes all the difference in the world. Good book, well written!
