Dakota and Mason both had tough pasts but they continue to fight through. They make an awesome couple and show you that even though you go through tough times, good can happen for you!
This is a very engaging and emotional story. Drama, angst, romance and characters that get under your skin.
Macon Brady is a boxer and veterinarian who almost died after he was shot and he continues to fight the demons from that incident. He tries to move on but finds himself back in the ring to try and deal with the mounting pressures that he feels.
Dakota Bristol is a single mom to Joshua, 6, and she owns Boulder Bean, a local coffee shop. When her ex, Adam, is released early from prison she has a restraining order placed against him but also knows there isn’t anything that will stop him from doing what he wants.
When Dakota and Macon are set up on a blind date sparks fly but both have pasts that they haven’t recovered from and with a child involved they are both hesitant. Yet they can’t deny their chemistry and begin to form a solid friendship which gradually leads to more.
Can both come to terms with their respective pasts to have a future together?
This was such a good book and I really enjoyed it from start to finish!
I thought Macon was a great character who had lived through a moment that drastically changed who he was. He lived life on the edge and almost tested whether he should have survived being shot. Yet I loved how dedicated he was to his friends and those around him.
Dakota was an awesome character who was an amazing mom who was doing everything she could to protect her son and keep them both safe. I understood why she hated relying on others, especially when it came to her past with Adam.
There was so much chemistry between Dakota and Macon but both had a lot of baggage. I was happy when Dakota opened up to Macon about Adam and how protective he got over both her and Joshua. There were a couple of freaky moments where Macon’s past came back to haunt him at unfortunate times and I was really hoping that he would be able to overcome it and not run.
I hated how Adam kept harassing Dakota and I knew that he would unfortunately keep going until something bad happened.
I was so mad at where things went downhill fast and the situation that developed. I was definitely freaking a little as things got intense!! I was very happy when things worked out as they should!
Definitely looking forward to Nate’s story next and I am hoping he’s ok!
Possible spoilers:
“Far from Destined” is Veterinarian Macon and single mom-trepreneur Dakota’s story.
Let’s just be real…the actual heroes of their story is Joshua and the cats.
Macon is a good Brady brother. He helps all of his siblings but when they setup a blind date-can he control his feelings?
Dakota has a past she hasn’t shared with the pact sisters. Joshua’s dad wasn’t a good man. Can she overcome her fears when she has to face her past head on?
Always a guaranteed HEA, but man does this couple work for it. 4.5/stars.
4.5
‘Far from Destined’ is book three in Carrie Ann Ryan’s Promise Me series. Each book in this series are stand-alone each with their own HEA, although each book follows a different set of characters it’s still recommended that each book be read in order to get the full vibe and feels from knowing each and every character.
‘Far From Destined’ follows single mum Dakota Bristol and a Brady sibling Macon. These two have known each other for a while as their friends are close, they’re are constantly being thrown together, it helps that they don’t mind each other’s company.
Both Macon and Dakota have a lot going on in their lives and the last thing they want or are thinking of is a relationship, but when one is meant to be there’s nothing going to get in the way. Macon’s dealing with the aftermath of a violent attack that left him near death, while Dakota’s past is back to haunt her.
One again Carrie Ann Ryan will have you entranced in this page-turner. Watching the magic flowing across the pages, friendships forming and solidifying, insta family, and trust and promises are made. ‘Far From Destined’ is a hot, and emotional read. You heart with scream, weep, and grow throughout this book. I love this series and I’m sad that the final book is coming up and we will be saying goodbye to these characters.
I really loved this story!!! I’ve been waiting for Dakota’s story since we met the pact sisters. This story was cute and sweet but also had some action and plenty of heat. I liked that Macon fights but is also super sweet with Joshua and the animals that he works with. And Dakota is just a super strong single mother, but we also get an insight in het inner fears and doubt. I would recommend this story to others because the characters are amazing and the story is good.
I have loved every moment of the Promised series. They way each couple thinks they will be different from the one before but still end up in the same lace. Macon’s POV is so heartwarming when you think about the position he was in and having to come back from that. Loved loved loved can’t wait for the conclusion!
Great addition to the promiseme series
This couple was thought to be Far from Destined
Macon and Dakota have been circling each other for far too long and their time is up
Macon is recovering from being shot and even though the physical side of things is fine, emotionally he is far from itWhen the pact sisters approach him to take Dakota on a ‘trial’ blind date he’s wary but gives it a goDakota on the other hand is a single mom and business owner and trying to do everything herself, until her time comes to start the blind dating but also her past is no longer in the past but a blip on the radar
Loved this story, the emotional components and the chemistry between all the characters is flawless and so well developed I can’t wait to find out what happened and happens between Nate and Myra nextA not to be missed series
Another great book by Carrie Ann Ryan. Boy, these Brady men are something else. Everything about Macon, Dakota, and Dakota’s son Joshua was amazing. Each story in this series just keeps getting better, I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next.
Far from Destined is the third book inCarrie Ann Ryan’s Promise me series. Dakota is the third women in the Pact sisters to go on her blind date, which ends up being a fake date with Macon. I loved this story and Joshua was the cutest. Can’t wait for Nate and Myra’s story.
As usual, Carrie Ann Ryan does not disappoint with this book! You can never go wrong with one of her Alpha males and a single mom. I loved following these two in their story even though they fought tooth and nail to not fall in love. I can’t wait for more in this series!
Macon and Dakota have both been through a lot .Dakota is a single mom to a young son with a crazy ex boyfriend.Macon is having trouble after being shot. There is a lot of scars and hurt they have to overcome.I loved Macon and Dakota’s Journey!!!!
I’m in love with this series. As we continue with the “Pact Sisters” and the Brady brothers, this time it’s Dakota and Macon’s story. Although Macon is still haunted from being shot, he’s fallen hard for Dakota’s son. Dakota is running from her own demons and trying to stay clear of Macon. But, of course the sisters intervene. Dakota and Macon both are falling for the other, neither wanted to admit it. When Dakota’s past comes back to create danger for her and her son, Macon truly realizes just how much they mean to him and how he’d do anything to keep them safe. Another wonderful story to this series!
One of my favorites of the series!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! This is the third book in the series and it can be read as a standalone though they are all interconnected. We have different main characters but it is a group of very close friends and a group of brothers so they are all in each other’s business throughout the series and books so if you have read the prior ones you will have met and know these characters and some of what they are dealing with. Macon is having a hard time adjusting after being shot. He is still having nightmares and trying to find a way to deal with his rage. He feels weak over what happened and how it happened. He is very drawn to Dakota but because of the connections between the groups and where he is at and how they interact with each other, he isn’t going there. He is great with her son as well. Dakota is gun shy. She is drawn to Macon but he also sets her on edge since she doesn’t have all the information. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop throughout the story. It works well for the characters and it drags you into their story as you want them to finally get together.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is the Third book in the Promises me series. I really recommend reading the first 2 books before this one. The characters will make more sense and have so back story in those books to help this book. Man is this book great. A little bit more suspense/intrigue than the last two which is always good. It’s nice to see a series get better with each book. Macon and Dakota sure had some demons in their closest. I was happy to see the story was written to complement each character while processing the story to its fullest. This wasn’t the usual Knight in shining armor story but it did have its moments of Macon heroism. This book was very good and I can’t wait to see what happens in Book 4.
5 Stars
Macon and Dakota heat up your pages in the newest Promise Me novel. What starts as a friendship due to the friends and family they have in common, turns into an attraction neither one can deny. Of course the path to happily ever after is not an easy one. Both of them have their demons and while one physically comes back to jeopardize their future, the other is there putting some bumps in the road. I absolutely adored these two, as well as Joshua, and cannot wait for the final book in this fantastic series!
Cara – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
This story was amazing!!! Absolutely loved Macon and Dakota!! Macon is a small animal vet and part of the Brady family and totally on Dakota’s don’t want to look at, know, be around list! Dakota is the owner of the Boulder Bean and has a six year old son Joshua who is so adorable!! Dakota doesn’t want help in any shape or form not from her friends and definitely not Macon Brady. However things don’t always go the way they are planned and Dakota soon has to understand that having help isn’t a bad thing it doesn’t mean you can’t do it all but that maybe you don’t have too when they’re people who care and want to help. The Pact Sisters soon decide its time for Dakota to start going on her blind dates but they have things planned out she never would have expected. Macon still faces demons of his own over the traumatic event from awhile back and starts doing things to relieve the stress that if his family found out they wouldn’t approve of which is learning to box and participate in fights in the ring.

Overall I’ve loved this series because we get to see the ups and downs. That everyone has issues just like ourselves no matter how hard we try nothing and nobody is perfect. Macon is strong but so is Dakota and they know something is there no matter how hard they fight it. Dakota has Joshua and he’s her priority and nothing else matters until she stops and finally takes a moment for herself because her friends make her and she deserves it. I can’t wait to read the next in the series!!
