When Magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York, he intends his stay to be just a brief stopover. However, when his magical case is misplaced and some of Newt’s fantastic beasts escape, it spells trouble for everyone¿
Inspired by the original Hogwart¿s textbook by Newt Scamander, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original screenplay marks the screenwriting debut of J.K. … J.K. Rowling, author of the beloved and internationally bestselling Harry Potter books. A feat of imagination and featuring a cast of remarkable characters and magical creatures, this is epic adventure-packed storytelling at its very best. This is on my reading list; I like to read the book before I see the movie, as I had done with all the Harry Potter books. I am normally a Sci-fi reader, but do like an occasional fantasy.
I got so engrossed in this book I finished in about 2 hours, love this story! Rowling does whimsy, darkness, laugh out loud funny and tragic in way that makes you just want MORE. Imagine magical stuff going on in a major US city and wizards trying to do their usual thing and keep the non-magical public in the dark. I’m not going to say more and give away the plot if you haven’t already seen the movie.
I am so glad this is one of the Harry Potter spinoffs.
This was a fantastic and fun read! I’ve never read a screenplay before and what better one to try than this one! Brings back all the love for the wizarding world. I want a Pickett Sigh Now I need to watch the movie!!
I always forget how much I enjoy J. K. Rowling’s writing until I go and read one of her books. This one is no different. It grabs your attention and keeps you entertained and enthralled the whole way.
I might be a little biased toward the characters because I am a social awkward Hufflepuff that is far more comfortable with animals, just like Newt. I don’t think she could have written a better Hufflepuff to take the lead here.
I noticed a few more things than I did while watching the movie. I was able to pick up more about how all the little details work together.
Another great story that I will probably read many times… I couldn’t ask for a better addition to the Wizarding World.
WOW!!!!! I loved this book, it was even better than the movie, even though it was just the screenplay of the movie. Just coming back to the wizarding world on paper is what had me!
Always love JK Rawlings
I loved this book with the illustrated animals are moving. This was a fun read.
Really good meant for anyone who likes fictional creatures
I understand that this was meant to be a “text” book, but each section was very high level. I want more. I want stories and histories to go with each species. I want biologies and special skills. I want more!! I want more!! I want more!!
If you like the Harry Potter books, this is worth reading. It is nowhere near as good, but is alright for entertainment.
Such a great read for any Potter fan.
Love it!
