Bullets are flying, and Sheena Savoy is running out of places to hide. In the wrong place at the wrong time, her boss wants her silenced—permanently. Xander Beck, a vampire with the League of Guardians, is on a mission to rescue a witch in trouble with the mob. What he expected to be a routine mission quickly becomes anything but. How can he protect the blasted witch if he can’t catch up to her?… to her?
On the run from the mob and dogged every step of the way by a shadowy group of men they can’t seem to shake, Marshal Benoit is running out of options. Come hell or high water, he will get his witness to safety.
There’s a mole at WITSEC, and as far as Sheena knows, the only person standing between her and a bullet is a Marshal she met only days ago. That is until she comes face to face with Xander and things become exponentially more dangerous as they make a mad dash for the Le Beau Ranch. She prays she will find safety there.

I just went out and bought a pack of red lollipops. Read the book and you will understand why. This book had it all, steamy love, romance, action, twists that you do not believe, and wit. The banter between Rose’s brothers, now vampires, Nick and Derek, makes for a few laughs out loud moments. Another paranormal does find their mate and of course, danger ensues. Xander is the lollipop suckling vampire who meets his soul mate, Sheena, while running a protection detail, hers. I found Xander’s unusual gift quit sexy and charming. Heck, everything about that vamp is sexy. Sheena has a unique gift of her own and fits right in with this group of paranormal heroes. Seeing more of the LeBeau’s is always nice. I appreciate that the very hot sex scenes make sense and make this one hot suspense-filled story with many splashes of romance. I can hardly wait for the next book in the League of Guardians and the LeBeau Brothers series!
I absolutely loved Xander and Sheena’s story. Lots of action, danger, intrigue, humour and romance. Sheena’s familiar, Salem the cat, is hilarious. She is certainly keen on hexing someone. Sheena seems to be always running for her life and no-one can work out how the mob keeps finding them. The chemistry between Xander and Sheena is off the charts, it must be a soulmate thing. This is certainly a great addition to the series. I am really looking forward to reading more from this author.
I love everything V.A. Dold writes. I love her writing style, she makes sure it’s edited and proofread. There is lots of action scenes and plenty of steamy time. Highly recommend anything this writer writes.
It is now Xander’s turn to discover his mate. Sheena works for the mob boss that tried to take out Cade’s mate Anna. She did not know that he was a crime boss. She witnessed the brutal murders of several humans meant for trafficking. She also saw two crime bosses making the deal. Now, they want her dead! She received protection from WITSEC, but there was an informant among the team. The mob kept coming strong after her. Xander was on his way to get her to protect her. They end up at Lucas’s farm with some of the Le Beau brothers for protection. Bastien is a Marshal with WITSEC who is doing his best to protect her as well. In the process, Xander is making her into a vampire. Who will succeed…the mob or the shifters and vampires? She can never go home until everyone in the mob families is eliminated. Can they do it? I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
This was a great book !
Sheena is running for her life.
Marshal Bastien Benoit is assigned to protect Sheena.
Who is going to protect Bastien from his attraction to Sheena ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
I’ve read & reviews this author previously & was looking forward to this series. Love a good para-romance with action & mystery, but thought the story was rushed in multiple places. Found missed opportunities to let her words show the audience rather than just tell what has happened, constantly. Found was making a few eye rolls with lines & cheesy sayings that were little over done.
Love the characters but …… I ended up finding I wish would’ve read the first 2 books, it doesn’t detract but felt like was missing something, & trying to grasp at some of the possibilities…. Somewhat overall…disappointed. It just needed less of somethings & more of something else. I look forward to seeing the Le Beaus and Etienne’s crew. Plan on going back & reading from beginning (am ocd like that) maybe the next book will be different. Recommend.
I received a free copy from the author as an arc for an honest opinion and review.
I was a fun book to read
