To humans, the Brairberry Estate is nothing more than Folklore. It’s a legend of a place that existed, then suddenly, didn’t exist any longer. To the paranormal community, the Briarberry Estate is as real as they are and promises hope and sanctuary. It’s a place for new beginnings or abrupt endings, but that outcome depended solely on the person making the choice. Kedah never knew the Estate … Estate existed until her life became something more than a merely human. Fangs and confusion clouded her life and when she fell into the Brairberry Estate doors, her entire world seemed to flip. Doran, a resident of the Estate and immortal of some kind, added to the confusing mess, causing Kedah to question just about everything of her new life.
When Kedah’s sire suddenly makes a surprise reappearance, complicating her already complicated life, she finds herself quickly drowning in a sea of bad decisions and mistakes. With the uninvited, but much needed, help of Doran and a few volunteers of the Briarberry estate, Kedah makes her grand entrance into the world of the paranormal where she’ll either survive with the help of a whole lot of luck and wits, or die, for good this time.

This book is so good. I literally have never read any books by this author before, but I definitely will read the next book in this series.
Kedah was bitten and had no one to tell her how to live and survive. She meets Jensen and he takes her in. This was an interesting book. It had a good flow and enjoyed meeting the characters.
Kedah is lost in life as a new vampire. When she is caught stealing blood from a blood bank she is given a chance to learn about being a vampire and live with other supernatural beings.
This book was unique because it was your typical vampire read. Kedah was a lovable, klutzy, funny girl who always attracts trouble. As she makes new friends she also has an enemy. All of the characters in this book were great, it has ones you love, ones you hate and some you tolerate. The read was a slow burn from the begging to the end.
Love the characters, the paranormal life, the angst and the funny moments.
A 3.5. An interesting start to a series that I could definitely see being a great binge read but this one could use a few issues worked out. An engaging story and likeable characters it’s a bit different from most NA/YA books about just now.
An interesting twist on a genre that can become quite redundant. The flow of the story held me captive and the characters were easy to understand and I felt as if I was right in the story with them. I loved the way the authors ideas were fresh and new. She wove a story that was engaging and I would read her again.
A clean, sweet romance. This book held lots of laughter and sweet moments. I have to admit that I was a bit irritated with the heroine and her lack of self perseveration but I understood why she did what she did continually. The other characters in this book are just as amazing and I really cannot wait to read their stories. This book was a fantastic read and I highly recommend it.
This story was great and Kedah was a hoot! Having been recently turned into a vampire she had no clue but when someone attacked her in the alley she came close to killing them but that’s when she met Jensen a 1000 year old vampire. Jensen is in charge of the Den a place for paranormal people to go where she could find a way to fit in and where she found Doran who loved to tease her. It’s sounds perfect and it would be except her sire Max wants her to spy or everyone she loves will be dead.
This story was dangerous but cute and it was fun to read.
This was a cute, easy read that kept you invested with its good dialogue, interesting characters and a storyline that’s easy to follow. This is book one in a new series and I can’t wait to see what good things come in the next one!
I’m surprised by how much I liked this book, partly because PNR is hit or miss for me most of the time. We have a lot of characters introduced and a few storylines almost teasing at the edges of each new face, but this still didn’t feel too jumbled or chaotic. Kedah and Doran start out as a mystery, then each new piece of the puzzle brings along with it three more, so while one problem is solved, several more pop up to keep everyone guessing. And I bet we see more of Kedah and Doran, even if they’ve admitted their significance to each other here. So along with the continuation of their story, we have Jensen, Aidan, Lev, Charles….I see a lot of potential here and need to know who ends up snared by who knows what next!
This is not my normal genre, so that makes this book that much more special! Loved the fabulous world this author has created!!!!
I was able to meet Carrie in Huntsville and I decided to take a chance on her book even though paranormal isn’t something I usually read. I finished this book in 2 days and am already wanting to start it over again. Kedah being the clumsy vamp that she is makes me laugh, but I feel for her with situations she falls into. Jensen is such a dad figure towards her I find it endearing. Aiden is a smelly dog, but I wouldn’t mind having him on my side. And Doran…oh my lord what can I say about him. He is compassionate, fearless, and a downright bad ass when it comes to something/someone he’s protective over. I truly hope that there is more to this story because I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want it to end.
