STARVATION TAKES MANY FORMS
Ash Park, a run-down suburb of Detroit, might not be the most idyllic place to live, but for Hannah Montgomery, it’s safe. At least, it feels that way until a serial killer starts dicing up women from the shelter where she volunteers.
Hannah manages to convince herself the killings have nothing to do with her brutal past—but then her boyfriend is murdered in the same ruthless manner as the others. And the police think she may have had something to do with it.
The cops are right about one thing: Hannah is responsible. Because she knows who the killer is. Now she must face the fact that she brought a monster with her to Ash Park—and his appetite for blood is insatiable.
Everyone’s hungry for something.
Some are more famished than others.
Dark, gritty, and raw, Famished is an emotional roller coaster and an electrifying debut from bestselling author Meghan O’Flynn. If you like Chelsea Cain, James Patterson, or Caroline Kepnes, you’ll LOVE Famished, the first book in the Ash Park series.

I recently was able to read Famished by Meghan O’Flynn, and let me just say what an experience it was. I shouldn’t be surprised, seeing as this is my 2nd book by her. I was kind of ready for it, but then once I started to dive into the story – let’s just say that I was on the edge of my seat.
The book was full of suspense, with an intense plotline. I can’t wait to continue reading this series!!
Famished (Ash Park series book 1)
By Meghan O’Flynn
This is the first book I have read by this author. I don’t do scary movies and this book scared the living hell out of me. It sacred me so much I actually had a bit of trouble sleeping lol. This book won’t be for everyone, but on saying that I can’t wait to read the next instalment. The scenes in this book are so descriptive you can almost see them before you. Along with the descriptive scenes there are some twists and turns that you may or may not see coming. I would honestly say this is the scariest book I have read EVER and won’t be reading the next instalment at night. For those who like scary movies and books this is the book for you. Thank you, Meghan, for this book and I would recommend it be read.
Famished by Meghan O’Flynn is a scary, thrilling, and mystery all wrapped up into one. I am going to be honest if you do not like scary, descriptive, and haunting stories I would not recommend this story.
Now that the disclaimer is done, OH MY GOODNESS, I love this book. This book had me in the first couple of paragraphs. I could not put it down. I do have to say to pay close attention to every detail. I know I had to reread a couple of times just because I wanted to see if I missed it or was it a curve ball. Ms. O’Flynn has excellent character building as well as scenery to go along with her story. There is clues everywhere and secondary characters that have meaning as well. She does not write anything or anyone that does not pertain to the main story. Being that this volume one, I will be reading the other ones as well. Thank you Ms. O’Flynn for this story.

Famished by Meghan O’Flynn is a four star novel. This is the first novel in the Ash Park series. Set in Detroit, you realize early on that bad stuff is going to happen in this novel. There are neighborhoods in every city that you don’t really want to hang out in, Ash Park is one of them. Hannah doesn’t seem to mind though. She wants to be as inconspicuous as possible to keep her secret past hidden. Some days she is not very successful in not letting her past come back to haunt her. She is afraid of her own shadow and has a hard time sleeping. While we read about Hannah’s story, we are also on the story of Petrosky. He is a veteran detective who has his own set of problems. With a murdered child and a wife who left him, he is unhappy and just trying to survive. When the city becomes wrought with murders, he tries to make up for his daughter’s death and solve this case. The serial killer seems to be going after people that Hannah knows. That seems the only connection. Can he figure out what is happening before more people die?

I love a good mystery story and while we get that with this book, for me personally, I finished this book feeling confused more than anything.
I was drawn right into this book and really wanted to know more of our female lead and while we learned her story along the way, I couldn’t really connect with her like I wanted as we go into so many different characters thoughts and actions, it took away from that, for me.
I really cant wait to read the rest of this series as I want to know what happens next and maybe get some answers for this book too.
I will admit I was hesitant going into reading this novel. I ADORE thriller novels. Love the gore and scares, and by all means give me all the twisted intrigue, mystery, with a twisty plot. I want to believe this could be real so I can be scared. See, we live in a pretty scary world already. One, where just watching the daily news is enough to make me want to put three locks on my door and cameras in my home with a fully loaded gun in my nightstand. So what really confused me was when I began to really get into this novel, was all those one star reviews that had me so hesitant to pick up a thriller novel from an author that I adore. I have several points I need to make because it has been really weighing on my mind here. First, Meghan O’Flynn is a clinical therapist and a mother. Can you imagine the horrors she hears and sees on a daily basis while having to go home and live a “normal” life and be a nurturing mother? I struggle as a mother with the guilt of knowing I brought a child into this world that is slowly, each day, becoming more and more depraved to a point where I fear to go to even the grocery store. She gets a backstage pass to this stuff. So yeah it isn’t so shocking to envision the phrase so often used to describe such shocking writing…
“Thomas grinned like a fifteen year old girl with a cock in her ass.”
Umm… you apparently don’t read, watch TV, or go to the mall, etc. I have heard phrases like this be slung around, all too much, sadly in one form or another. This is supposed to be from a depraved person and depicts a state of mind. It is crucial character development.
Second, gore and sex is definitely a major role is this book. Now I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. It isn’t a necessary aspect for a thriller book, but for this storyline it was necessary to have the details in order to fulfill the plot. Given that nugget of information you can decide whether you’d like to give it a try or not, but don’t rule it out completely just because it is a part of the story until you consider that. It is not done in distaste or overwritten and everything has its place. I can think of many great horror movies that were amazing because they managed to be detailed with gore and violence to a realistic point. It made the movie realistic and feel as if it happened not was a written script. Those are the ones that get you. Famished does this, and that is a difficult feat!
With that said and out of the way, and if you have decided to keep going you are in for one hell of a thrilling ride. I picked this up about 8:45 at night, it was raining (again) and I just needed something to help me unwind to get to sleep. I had no idea that I would be reading well into the night and devouring this book in one sitting. In fact I am actually typing this review very sleepily at 4 am because I awoke with a start from a disturbing dream (those darn scary bedtime stories) and had to do something to distract myself for a bit. This book is still very much on my mind and I am sure it will be for quite some time. Luckily, Conviction, the second book is available now so I am off to dive right into it after this. I think I am going to skip out on those reviews this time! Happy reading, and scary dreams! Thank you so much Meghan O’Flynn for the bloody amazing thriller!
Holy cow! What the what was that?! Famished was epically messed up. Creepy with new demented twists all throughout. The way it bounces from character to character leaves you unsettled, and shows everyone has darkness in them. This was a gripping story that was full of suspense and action. If you are easily triggered by certain things then maybe stay away. I’m not. This was full on shocking at times, and disturbing at others. I’m totally looking forward to the next book, though I may sleep with the light on tonight.
Famished by Meghan O’Flynn is the first book in the new Ash Park series. This book is not for the faint of heart. I had not read a serial killer book in awhile and this one crept under my skin and into my mind. The story is about Hannah Montgomery who has recently moved to the Ash Park neighborhood. She feels safe until things start to change. Her past starts to haunt her and terrify the entire neighborhood. This story has some twists and turns, graphic detail of the killings, and some good characters. The POV changes between characters and at times became a bit convoluted. At times I feel like this helped to add to the suspense and horror. Overall this was a good read and I will be looking for the next book in the series.

Rated 5 stars!
I cannot put this book down! I was second guessing myself numerous times while reading. Who is the killer? Her, Him, Them? Ugh!!! I can’t tell! Man….this is outstanding! Dynamic! Talk about on the edge of your seat! So many emotions the story brought out. I was shocked, grossed out (an emotion right?? Ha ha), amazed and disgusted more than once. Oh lest not forget Impressed!
The story was amazing! The characters were deep and unforgettable. They each had a mild beginning and by the end? I thought how much deeper can he/she go?
While reading I was a bit confused at first with all the different random characters. But as the story moved forward I understood the reason. So hang in there and finish this book!
This is a first time author for me and I am hooked!! I was very pleased with this story. Happy this is a series!!! So I can’t wait to start the next book.

Famished is the first book in the Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn. It in an intense, dark, gory, clever serial killer thriller/crime novel that had me completely gripped in its hold from beginning to end. There were times I thought I should have looked away, closed the book and stopped reading because it was quite shocking and disturbing in places- but I couldn’t, I was glued to the page, heart in my mouth, on the edge of my seat trying to piece everything together and figure it all out before everything was revealed. But, wow- I did not see THAT coming, at all!!! Ms. O’Flynn spun a brilliant web of intrigue, mystery and danger- cleverly choreographing everything into a riveting story and keeping me guessing right till the very end!!
I can’t wait to dive into book #2!
Thank you, Ms. Flynn!!!

I couldn’t even imagine dealing with the mess Hannah had to. To finally find a place you feel safe but have it ruined by a killer. This story kept me on my toes beginning to end. I didn’t know what would happen next. The author did an awesome job with the suspense. All the characters were well written. The plot was fresh and well thought out. Some times books get predictable and you can pretty much guess the ending. But not this story it was shocking and well worth the nightmare I’m sure to have.

While this is not my go to or normal genre I found myself sat on my seat’s edge with this book. The book is full of suspense. This book is definitely full of twists and I was very surprised at some parts. The book is highly thrilling and will definitely fill the I love intrigue and murder solving books. I am not really into thrillers but I have to admit that I was glued to the pages of this one and I was eager to see what would happen next. There were some twists that I wasn’t expecting and I will definitely want to know what the finale outcome will be.
The storyline and characters are very original. I was drawn into the mystery and suspense of this book and I am now needing to read the next books in the series. I do admit that this isn’t my favorite genre but this book did really grab my focus and attention and lure me into its twisted goings on. I will definitely be reading more from this author and this series.
Famished by Meghan O’Flynn is very very dark and twisted serial killer mystery thriller story that contains very disturbing and extremely graphic scenes and may cause triggers in some. This style of story may not be for everyone and certainly not for the faint of heart. But for all that it is sickening and perplexing, gruesome and in parts repulsive, Meghan did a really good job at keeping me guessing right to the very twisted and creepy end. The story is told in several POV’s and I am still a little confused at some parts but soldiered on. At the end I just sat there and went wow, what did I just read and how do I feel? I still can’t answer how I feel but the story is well written and the characters are disturbing and damaged and the shock factor is of the charts.
This murder suspense was an entertaining read for me. I felt that the characters were well developed. The plot had plenty of twists and turns to keep my attention. I felt the author did a great job with the storyline. I am looking forward to reading more in this series.
Famished by Meghan O’Flynn is the first volume in her Ash Park series. This book will take you on an intense journey that is well worth the read.
Although most people wouldn’t consider Ash Park “the” place to live, for Hannah it is home and a place that she feels safe. However this all could be just an illusion when a potential serial killer starts terrorising the neighbourhood.
For Hannah the safety pretence is destroyed, especially since she knows who is behind the killings. It looks like her past might have just caught up to her in the most brutal way imaginable.
This book was really interesting to read. I loved the way the story was woven. The details from Hannah’s past and what is going on in the present. I found that I couldn’t stop reading, I had to find out what was happening and why. This was a well thought out book and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

This was such an intriguing read, a little out of my usual comfort zone but I found myself captivated about what was going on and trying to guess what was going to happen. I really have to applaud the author for her eerie writing, the hairs stood up on my arms a few times whilst I was reading. Not being my usual kind of read mean that I hadn’t quite guessed the ending but I don’t think I would have anyway – the ending was brilliant and totally unexpected. The author did a great job of keeping everything hidden until the right time. It did take me a little bit of time to get used to who was speaking during the story as it is written from different ones however it is well worth staying with it.
This book may not be to everyone’s taste but I am glad that I gave it a go and I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
This is my favorite book by this author yet! I loved it! It has a little bit of everything from romance to mystery to murder to just action. This book pulled me in right from the beginning and held my attention right until the end. I love how this author made me feel as if I was right there with the characters. Hannah is my favorite but I did feel compassion for her and what she is going through. Twists, turns, and sitting on the edge of my seat! I highly recommend this book.

The story Famished: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 1) by Meghan O’Flynn is a thrilling mystery book. This is a story that is dark, suspenseful, and will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. It has a plot that will keep you guessing. Once I started this book I found myself lost in the pages. I enjoyed reading about the character of Hannah. She is someone that could be called predictable, reliable, and efficient. She also has a need to feel safe. She volunteers her time at a woman’s shelter, helping those who find their way there. When her boyfriend is murdered she finds that she has come to the attention of the detectives working on the case. Is Hannah a suspect or just someone who has got caught up in the case of a serial killer? Who is committing murder in horrible ways and will they be caught? Read this book to find out. This is a book with some twists and turns to it that I didn’t see coming. This story makes you feel like you are there with the characters during the investigation and I felt like I was trying to solve a puzzle piece by piece. The story does include a lot of detail on the crimes, the characters, and the investigation. There are many characters that you are introduced to and it is interesting to read about them and how they fit into the story. This is a well-written page-turner that I highly recommend reading. It is the first book in a series and I look forward to reading the next story.
I really enjoyed this book until the very end. Hate it when you have to get the next book to find out “who done it”!
