The New York Times bestselling first book in the Rose Gardner Investigation series, a spinoff of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today best selling Rose Gardner Mystery series.Trouble always comes to those who court it. Rose Gardner’s ability to see glimpses of the future has gotten her into hot water time and again, but so have her curiosity and her sense of daring. Those very … daring. Those very qualities helped her defeat the most powerful man in Arkansas—a man so adept at hiding his crimes there was no way to defeat him inside of the law—but her success came at a steep personal price. Now she’s throwing herself into her landscaping business, trying to live a life that’s as orderly as one of her gardens.
Rose’s best friend, Neely Kate, is struggling with her own losses, so when she suggests they help a local man find a missing necklace, Rose agrees. It’ll give both of them a welcome distraction, and besides, it’s a simple investigation. What harm could befall them? But things that should be simple rarely are. In seeking out the necklace, Rose and Neely Kate find themselves in the thick of a power struggle in the Fenton County underworld, one that could dethrone Rose’s friend James Malcolm, the surprisingly moral king.
The last thing Rose should do is court more trouble, but she’s not the type to step away from a friend in need—and she’s also not so sure she wants an orderly life.

To say I’m excited beyond belief would be an understatement, BUT I am! This is the beginning of a completely new series with some of the gang from the Rose Gardner Mysteries (which is an amazing series by amazing author extraordinaire Denise Grover Swank) You can get to know Rose and her merry band of misfits if you want and pick up 28 and a Half Wishes. I can’t wait for this whole new adventure and you shouldn’t either
This was easy to read and had a little twist.
Loved it. Great story
Great Book! I loved Rose Gardner Mysteries series. Denise Grover Swank has taken Rose Gardner Investigations to a whole new level and I love it!! Family Jewels was everything I could have wanted and so much more. The characters are like old friends that I love! I am extremely excited for Rose and Neely Kate to have more investigations and stories
Predictable, but a quick fun read at the pool
Writing did not flow comfortably for me.
Fun romance with a twist the portrayal of the dangerous woman is a bit our of character but surprising.
Family Jewels was a good read but not outstanding.
Enjoyed
I enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing. Not too scary, not too much sex. I like a cozy mystery and this is close.
To enter the world of landscaper Rose Gardner, you really need to have read the preceding book. There were too many references to prior story threads about which we have no information. Facing firearms and fury, Rose and her best friend Neely were constantly calm and unstoppable. Maybe too calm and unstoppable. Sweet girls.
I liked it
Interesting plot. Lots of action.
I’ve read many of her books in series. This is a later installment of same series. It’s excellent ! I think her writing has improved as her character has matured ! Amazing to see this unfold
This book is the first in a series, however it makes several references to characters and storylines in a previous series. This book is dull and predictable with characters who were unlikeable. I would not recommend this book. I don’t plan to read anything else by this author.
A lot of characters, not all of them necessary or interesting.
Fun read. Loved the protagonists!
Tedious, redundancy, way too wordy
I love the books in this series! I couldn’t stop reading this once I started. Love the quirky characters!
Okay.
