Hunter Bond always knew he’d take over Bond Retreat on Amore Island, the island established by his ancestors. He was the only son of an only son for generations, so it was expected he’d be the next in line. Was he tired of being reminded about the island’s legacy? Sure. Was he determined to do things his own way? Of course. Was he going to do his part to not tarnish the family reputation? … Probably not.
Kayla Rivers always said she had multiple clouds over her head. Gray ones. Ominous ones. Very often black ones. When she saw an ad for a job on Amore Island—a place where people supposedly found love at first sight—she should have run in the other direction since she’d never been loved a day in her life. Instead she ran forward hoping and praying for once in her life she’d find happiness rather than disappointment.

This storyline shows how someone’s past can and sometimes does throw a shadow over there future. Though Kayla exaggerated some of that shadow, I think the feeling of growing up like that felt quite real. The story behind Amore Island is beautiful on the surface, but it has it’s bad spots. I enjoyed this book for its believability, it’s relatable characters and how all of them have and openly accept their flaws.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
“Family Bonds” is the first book in a new series that takes place on Amore Island. This island and the hotel on it, Hotel Bond, have been owned by the Bonds Family since the late 1700s. Hunter Bond is the current owner of the Bond Hotel. When this story begins, he has just hired Kayla Rivers to work the night shift at the front desk.
I love this book because it is a love story between two good-hearted, caring people who are total opposites. Kayla spent her early life in foster care and has very low self-esteem. On the other hand, Hunter is considered royalty and has never wanted for anything. Plus, he has been raised as part of a very close enormous extended family. In spite of that, Hunter is always there to stand up for, and support, Kayla when necessary.
The author includes beautiful sex scenes in this book. Hunter and Kayla make love with a lot of emotion and affection for each other.
Natalie Ann has cleverly created catchy titles with each chapter. These titles always convey some information about the chapter. I always looked forwarded to reading them.
This author uses a lot of similes in this story that are not just ordinary figures of speech. When Hunter’s sister calls him a “softie,” Kayla states that she [will] “need Hunter to be like a roll of Charmain.” This author uses many such similes that are creative and hilarious.
I love this book, and I highly recommend it. It is a joyous story that will leave the reader smiling happily when the book ends.
I loved the idea of an island where you could find love and that this fantasy island is off the coast of my home state of Massachusetts is even better. Unlike Kayla I was lucky to have the security of two parents who supported me and would never had let me be homeless. I can understand why growing up in foster care and having to work hard just to survive that she feels like she’s not good enough for the wealthy successful CEO of the hotel she works at. Hunter Bond could have set himself up for a sexual harassment suit if Kayla hadn’t returned his feelings. She cared more about him and standing on her own two feet than money and power. Her roommates are a riot and I loved that so many of Hunter’s family members live or work on the island. I’m looking forward to reading more about them.
New book and a brand new series!! This is the first book of the Amore Island series, and what can I say another absolutely wonderful book by Ms. Natalie Ann.
Kayla is coming from Foster homes, and she is interviewed by Hunter for a job at Bond Retreat. Hunter is mesmerized by Kayla as they keep on bumping to each other.
This book also brings four new friends together who are roommates of Kayla. It also highlights on friendship and family.
We are introduced to Hunter’s sister and few cousins in this book. Looking forward to reading other books in this series.
I voluntarily read a copy of this title in exchange for an honest review
Loved this story about an island where you can find your soul mate. A sweet story about a young woman who was raised in the foster care system and now trying to make a better life for herself. When she comes to the island for a job interview at the famous hotel and thinks she’s met her soul mate. Great story.
