You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family… But that’s crap. I can choose my family. I choose Eastern. I choose Ford. I choose Sonny. I choose Camden. Four boys. Four boys with broken, jagged edges.Four fierce boys who have chosen me.And now together we face my flesh and blood. My brother, the biggest bully at Oceanside. My father, the most notorious criminal in the country. … father, the most notorious criminal in the country. Both intent on hurting the people I love.
But they’ve underestimated me.
I’m Asia. I’m a fighter.
I carry the storm within me.
And with my boys by my side, we’ll face them head on.
Because we are the delinquents, we are the rejects, but most of all we are family, and family sticks together.
Always.

Why does it have to be over?!? Oh, I love these characters . They each own a little piece of my heart and my heart broke for them all a little in this. All their back stories and struggles made me love them even more. It’s fantastic how many other series from our author she sneaks in to this series. I truly love it! It ends perfectly for me and I’m so glad that Ms. Paige has given us hope of a few spin offs. Another amazing series by Ms.Paige. Thank you!
This series has gotten better and better with each installment and Family is the best one yet. All those plot twists and heartaches finally come to a head, and I was left breathless. The storytelling is superb, the characters are so beautifully flawed, yet complete in each other. It was riveting reading from start to finish. I even found myself slowing down because I didn’t want this beautiful story of misfits finding their family and place in the world to end. I laughed, I cried, I raged, and I sighed on relief. This is an exquisitely crafted story that took root in my heart and I know it’ll be a long while before these characters let go. It was fanastic.
Wow what a final book in this awesome series I absolutely loved it …didn’t put it down until I was done … I ripped me in halve from the anticipation of what was gonna happen next …….I was sat with bum on edge of my seat turning each page as I devoured this book I love Asia , such a strong women and so well suited to Sonny, Ford, Eastern and Camden and they are just wow I want them ….yummy the ending was so good …..woop woop
5/stars & 3/spice
Everytime I think I should know what to expect in this series, I find out I’m completely wrong. Which I have to say is pretty amazing, with the amount I read plot twists can sometimes be easy to spot. But Bea Paige, is an amazing writer! This book did not disappoint in any way, with the final book you can sometimes miss not having all the answers but this one wrapped up completely for me. The steam and crazy mind blowing twists were perfect. The character growth between book 1 and now is beautifully written, and what you want to see from a series.
Really good series! I love Asia and her boys and the dynamic between each of them! Each of the guys are so different, but fulfill a need for Asia. Together they have shifted into a real family with their friends Kate and Pink also! I do wonder what will come of Viktoria?! I hope Monk gets his karma the little psycho! I love that she has a happy ending, she deserves it after everything she’s been through!
5 stars for Family by Bea Paige. This is the third and final book in the Academy of Misfits series. “Family is about the people you choose to open your heart to, the people you can count on to have your back, to be by your side when shit gets tough.” This ending was a roller coaster of epic proportions. This group has chosen their family, and now they will fight for each other. I am now a huge fan of Bea Paige. I loved the writing style, the emotional journey, just everything about it. Asia, Camden, Ford, Eastern, and Sonny learn a lot about each other and their past. Asia learns so much about herself and who her father really is. I will say that somethings that happened I did not see coming. Like things to do with Monk and Pink. Asia is still a complete bada**and I love her character. The ending was fantastic and filled with suspense. I LOVED IT !!!!
What an explosive finale to what’s been an amazing series, Paige has really outdone herself with Family and I loved every second of it!! Asia has to deal with finding put who’s daughter she is but with the help of her men they go try to save everyone they love!! Not everyone might get saved but she killed this ending and it turned out great especially that epilogue it was awesome to read and I can’t wait to see what’s next for our talented author!!
Ughh this book was amazing! Such a great conclusion to an amazing story and I am so sad to say goodbye to Asia and her men but so happy for them as well! Bea is truly truly an amazing writer and I am so excited to see everything else he wonderful mind can create!
Bravo! What a conclusion, I’d give this book more stars if I could. My heart has been torn apart, left to bleed and then carefully pieced together again. In a word “trust.” These kids have been left disappointed one to many times from broken promises and being told everything will be okay when it isn’t. A really well written series, such endearing and colourful characters.
We pick up with the devastation caused from Pink’s abduction, the revelation of Asia’s father and brother. The danger that Pink and Camden’s mother are in. The adults assure them that they’re safe for the time being and that there is still time to save them. Patience is running thin and tempers are frayed, it’s only a matter of time before everyone combusts. One thing is a certainty family is who we choose, those who are there for us without question. There are so many secrets to be revealed, twists and turns you won’t see coming.
This book left me speechless and I went through the rollercoaster of emotions, I fell in love with each character and this series is the best I’ve read all year long.
I only started reading this series very recently and I was immediately immersed in the story.
First of all, I am kind of partial to a best friends to lovers trope. The dynamic and love between Asia and Eastern were what drew me in from the start. The deep connection they share is one of a kind and I love seeing this kind of relationship develop into more. They shared most of their lives and know each other inside out. This dynamic carries on through the entire series. Asia doesn’t trust people easily, but when she loves, she loves deeply and is willing to do anything for the ones she loves. Her fierce protectiveness gradually extends to Sonny, Ford and Camden as she gets to know them better.
The author really sets her series apart from others (for me at least) by using an atypical setup. All these characters are raw, gritty, poor, snarky, violent, broken even. They grew up in this ‘hard knock life’ and have the battle scars (both emotional and physical) to prove it. Are they superlikeable characters? Well, they are not the fluffy, sweet kind, but they are real, flawed, hardened and that’s exactly why I like them.
In this final book, Asia goes toe to toe with the King, of whom she recently found out he is her father. This book has a darker feel to it when compared to the previous books in the series. Things are getting serious and it’s clear that things are escalating far beyond some kids facing off. Lives are at stake and while the main characters do have experience fighting, facing the head of a criminal organisation is something different altogether. The tension in this book is palpable and it builds up gradually. There are so many twists and turns, but overall the feeling of family dominates.
I also love how this series incorporates other books by this author. It really piques my interest to those books I still have to read.
This is turning out to be a huge review, let me cut it short right here. If you want the cliffnotes? This series is great, with outstanding development of both plot and characters. Family wraps up this arc nicely, but there are some easter eggs in this series that make me curious about what else this author has in store for us.
Wow. I read this book and then l stared at my ceiling for nearly an hour. I was in total awe. Bea Paige has once again shattered me and then put me back together with little pieces of these characters permanently in my heart. If you don’t want to throttle every character in this series by the end of Family, we didn’t read the same book. While I am so happy to see Asia get her HEA, I will deeply miss this Family. 5/5 will read again.
