Sam Cheever is a GREAT story teller! This was a real page turner. I had kept changing my guess who the killer was, Sam kept me gess till the very end!
The leading character, LA, has such an attitude, it kind of spoiled the book for me. While it is written well, with skill, lots of action, LA and her attitude soured it for me. I’ll try one more of the series before I abandon it. There is hope, and if you don’t get too aggravated by someone with a thick skull, go for it. I want to slap her silly.
I enjoyed Familiar Territory. It is action packed and intriguing. The book has a different take on witches and familiars. One thing I found interesting is that it is written from the perspective of a Familiar. This is different than any witch/paranormal books that I have read that usually follow the witch.
I did find some parts confusing and not detailed enough on how the magic worked and the magical creatures relationship worked.
Overall I enjoyed the book. There are many intense, dramatic magical battles. The characters are interesting.
Familiar Territory #1 – Intense. Intriguing. Interesting. Fast paced. This well written story was hard to put down once started. The story line was rather interesting and a bit different from the usual paranormal mysteries. The characters were developed enough to understand them and their motives. I really like Posh and Mabel. Most of the characters are likable and all of their dialogues were realistic. The Web made for an interesting character, too. The Cheever humor is in evidence throughout the story. I’m looking forward to reading more by this interesting author. There’s an overview, which I appreciate knowing what the story is about before I read it. I contacted the author to review her books and she graciously gave me FT. 5*
A Familiar Problem #2 – Trudy’s castle is way too cool; I want one, too! Ms. Cheever’s vivid descriptions of people, places and things places you there in all the happenings, and she uses a casual, laid back style of “talking”, like you’re settin around gossiping. I love the character development of Trudy, so funny but so scary. My favorite character was Celeste; she was tough in more than one way – oops, translation: awesome.
This story warms up then hits the door running; fast paced and action packed, the story twists and turns until the last page. The emotions run the gamut from happy to sad to terrified amongst others. If you like Butcher, you’ll love Cheever. I found this book on Booksprout, yeah! 5*
Fantastic Paranormal Mystery Adventure
This is a wonderful paranormal adventure that includes witches, familiars, shape shifters and assorted demons. The mystery is fairly twisted with dark magic and evil creatures. The plot is very well executed. The characters are fascinating. There was a bit of a learning curve for me as I don’t read many paranormal books. This is definitely a cozy without any creepy, nightmare building type stuff. This book stands alone well and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This author always writes a quality book that is worth your time to read it. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
I absolutely LOVED this book! I don’t even know where to start…This is my first book by this author, and I can tell you unequivocally, this will not be my last! This is a “shifter” book with everything included! Family turmoil, plenty of guy hotness, one of the guys’ freaky ex thrown in the mix and all of that captured in a story that is superb! The characters are great, all of the descriptions are so vivid, you can actually picture what’s going on, even at times, put yourself into the action! All of that and a super surprise ending! I can’t wait for the next adventure for LA (main female character) and Deg! Bring it on! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! Honestly, it doesn’t get any better than this!
