Ryan Shea has sworn off men. After her last relationship imploded in front of her eyes, she decides to take a break from swimming in the dating pool … possibly forever. The brilliant computer whiz loses her brain when it comes to love, and jumping feet first burns her every time.Without a home, or much of a clue where life is headed, taking a trip back to the small town of Fawn Hill to stay with … Hill to stay with her best friend seems like the only option.
Except it puts Ryan directly in the path of the one man she can’t fall for. Fletcher Nash reminds her too much of the dark past she’s always run from; his demons are the things of her nightmares. And it’s no help that, when he looks at her, she feels as if Fletcher is the one person who truly understands.
Fletcher Nash vowed not to fall in lust.
Five years of sobriety, and he hasn’t broken the chastity promise yet. Not that it had to keep for this long … he’s well over the normal year addicts are told not to get involved.
But, aside from a busy schedule and trying to chase his dream of becoming a full-time artist, he has no intentions of committing to a woman until she is the one.
Why is it, then, that sassy, city girl Ryan Shea comes dangerously close to resembling the exact woman he could break that promise for? Like sand through his fingers, there is no way she’ll stay put … but his heart just won’t listen.
They pledged not to love anyone until it was the real thing.
So what happens when two people terrified of falling head-over-heels, actually do?

Ryan Shea has had a tough life, and a tough go of it with relationships, with her last one ending rather dramatically. She’s decided that she is swearing off men for a while. She knows she jumps head first into relationships, so she’s decided to focus on herself. Fletcher Nash is the baby in his family, and a recovering addict. He’s five years into his sobriety and he vowed to never fall in lust again. He’s working hard and fighting his battle to remain sober every day. When Ryan comes to town to stay with her best friend Presley, the two are thrown back together. The few times they’ve been around each other before, there has always been a pull that they have both tried to avoid. As they spend more time together, it is hard to deny that pull, but as they navigate through their budding relationship, are either ready for this to be more? And can Ryan separate her past from her future?
I didn’t think I would love a Nash brother as much as I loved Forrest, but Fletcher just took the top spot. This book wasn’t just about two people falling in love, this book was about a man fighting addiction and a woman trying to overcome her past. Hands down one of the most amazing books I’ve read in a while. I love that Carrie didn’t shy away from talking about addiction and how debilitating it can be even when you are 5 years sober. She takes a topic that can be dark, and just writes about it in a way that makes it more eye opening to people who don’t suffer. I’ve been rooting for Ryan and Fletcher from the very first book in this series, and I’m so glad that they got their happily ever after! Well done Carrie, I don’t think I could have asked for a better ending to this series!
Fitting Ending to Series
I enjoyed Falter. Ryan and Fletcher together are wonderful and I like how easily the fell.
Ms Aarons does a brilliant job using relatable and realistic drama to guide her stories. Nothing is over the top and everything is heartfelt.
**Spoiler**
However, I felt the Fletcher got too much of the blame during a certain incident and that made me sad.
**ARC provided for an honest review.**
Falter by Carrie Aarons was saving the best for last. Fletcher has been five years sober. Throughout the series, I was most worried about him. (Not that you need to read the rest but they are excellent as well.) He is on the edge between finding his greatness or falling back into old habits. He met Ryan at his oldest brothers wedding and the sparks were flying then but the timing wasn’t right. Ryan has had her own struggles with life and love. Her wounds haven’t shown themselves to this Nash clan.
I was so emotionally invested in this couple. Fletcher struggles everyday with his addiction. He is stead fast and so strong but he would deny that. Ryan too struggles with her perception of herself worth. She has been flying around the globe as a free lance computer geek avoiding all commitments. When they decide to see where the sparks take them, they find they can rely on each other. Not that it’s smooth sailing. Insecurities are not dealt with and become the elephant in the room. But I was rooting for them all the way. Sometimes the greatest love has to falter before it’s solid.
I’ve adored all of the Nash Brothers books, but this was a hard book to read, and a harder review to write. Don’t get me wrong, this book was amazing. Well written, fabulous characters, wonderful story. I loved the book. But the emotions brought out were hard to deal with, and the things the characters had to deal with hurt my heart.
Fletcher Nash is a recovering addict. He has worked hard to pull himself out of the tailspin his life was in, and continues to do so every day. It’s not easy, but he’s determined to never put himself, or his family, through that again.
Ryan can’t win for losing. A product of a broken foster system, she has worked hard to become someone she can be proud of. But when it comes to men, she always chooses the wrong ones, the ones that can’t be depended upon, the ones that will break her heart. So, she’s decided to stay away from men for a while. But Fletcher is a temptation that she isn’t sure she can resist.
There is so much to say about this book. Fletcher has come so far since the beginning of the series, and Ryan has had a life of misery, and loneliness. They both deserve a HEA. They are both flawed, but working on improving those faults. The incredible level of emotion in this book is staggering. The descriptions of Fletcher’s fight with addiction, and daily struggles brought a lump to my throat. It really makes you think about how strong someone in that position has to be to continue to fight and win that struggle each day. This is definitely a book that tugs at heart strings and this was an outstanding ending to this series!
This book almost ended me… I’m not even sure why but I was crying more than 60% off it.I was so looking forward to see how Fletcher will get his HEA because he damn well deserved it. And Ryan was his match in every aspect. They both have a past that is painful and both are trying to leave it behind. It was heartbreaking to see when that past almost broked them up. I liked the slow burn and they way they let the relationship to mature.
Like said this book is not for the light-headed but it was worth every tear I shead.

Quick Note: If you have not meet the Nash brothers by Carrie Aarons, I recommend starting from the beginning because these are standalones, but they all build on each other.
I absolutely love the Nash brothers, I swear Carrie Aarons just keeps getting better and better with these that once I finish one book I say definitely that that brother is my favorite… until I read the next. I totally thought that Forrest was going to continue to be my favorite forever, that is until I was in Fletcher’s head.
Falter is Fletcher’s story. He is the baby Nash brother and this guy has been through hell and back with his addiction to alcohol. This book is so real going into his struggles on a daily basis, just because it has been 5 years does not mean that it gets easier. I fell more and more in love with this man with each page I read.
Fletcher sees an understanding in Ryan’s eyes when he looks at her and that scares him. She is a wanderer and this is his home, but it only seems temporary for her. Can he risk his 5 year sobriety for a chance of what might could be?
Falter is a beautiful story of finding the person that understands you better than anyone else in the world and doing everything in your power to keep that. It is not told behind rose-tinted glasses; it is real, it is emotional, but it is absolutely worth it.
I think you can tell by now, but I LOVED this book and this series. You 100% NEED to read it! I could not think of a better ending for these amazing brothers!
PS: Thank you to the author for generously supplying an ARC to me, I hope you enjoy my honest review!
What a series! I loved every one of the Nash men, but Fletcher must be my new favorite. I can’t believe it’s over. I need more…hint, hint. I’m sure the kids from this series need their stories to be told.
Fletcher is broken and is dealing with demons that are very real in today’s age. His cravings and temptations are brought to the surface and are real. He struggles every day and we see him knock down the walls each time. Ryan is done with romance and love. She’s giving herself a much-needed sabbatical from men and a year to focus on herself. She’s strong, independent but vulnerable when it comes to the heart. She fights with her heart to stay away from Fletcher but it’s no use when the Nash’s have taken her as part of their family.
Falter is captivating and will melt your heart. Easily read in one sitting. I encourage you to grab this amazing series today.
This is the 4th book in this phenomenal series, and is Fletcher and Ryan’s story. Fletcher is a reformed bad boy who has his demons which he has worked hart to overcome, but still his family worry about him. Ryan has sworn off men after continually making the wrong choices, and moves into town to stay with her best friend in order to take stock of her life and think about what her next move will be going forward. The last thing either of these characters wants is a relationship, but love can creep up and bite in the most unexpected ways. This is another beautifully written story from this gifted author, and I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all readers.
Great Nash brothers send-off!
So the twins were definitely my faves of this series and Fletcher’s and Ryan’s story was just as wonderful as Forrest’s and Penelope’s. You meet Ryan in Book 1 as Presley’s best friend. You don’t have to read all the books first, but believe me – you want to meet these Nash men.
Fletcher’s struggle with his addiction is real – “I’m always trying to do a little better than I did yesterday. So far, I haven’t backslid much, which I’m thankful for.” and Carrie Aaron’s doesn’t shy away from the daily struggle to stay sober. Unfortunately, that is Ryan Shea’s greatest fear to go down that road with him. The way these two make their way to each other is so sweet, but hard, with a little heartbreak thrown in, but it is so worth it!!
Ryan is a strong woman, but she needs to learn to lean on others. Fletcher has come so far since the first few books and needs to learn to take the leap – both personally and professionally.
This book is real, sweet with great girl bonding moments, and just plain wonderful. You can’t go wrong with this series.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
This story is one of sweetness, overcoming addiction, learning to live again, and going after what you want. It’s a must read by Carrie Aarons!!
This book – you need it. It addresses so much in an amazing and wonderful way! The author has become an artist writing her words on paper. I felt so connected and emotional for these characters. The characters are these amazing people who have a supportive family and you want to be included in their family. I laughed, I cried, my heart broke but was put back together by the end. The constant struggle between what they wanted and what they needed had me pulling my hair out. Their thoughts are written so descriptively by Carrie. She has created and finished a world of the Nash brothers that was pure perfection with steam and emotion that is out of this world.
Fletcher and Ryan have known each other for a while. They have been in the close group of friends. If you read flutter, Ryan made an appearance there. She’s been in and out a lot during this series. Ryan and fletcher have so many emotions and problems to overcome. Their connection and chemistry is out of this world and will blow you away.
They are both in recovery. Her from yet another reletionship ending, and him from addiction.
Shes sworn herself off men for a year, and hes decided to wait for “the one”.
Two broken people who desperately need to be loved. Can they find it in each other?
Another yummy Nash brother to drool over!
Fletcher is the youngest of the family. The one that is protected and to a degree still babied.
Hes turning his life around and I admired his courage, determination and inner strength.
Ryan is the best friend of Presley whom we met for the first time in the first Nash family book “Fleeting”.
Shes fast and flighty, always trying to outrun herself, but her inner light shines bright.
This story is much along the lines of the others in the series, no deviation, you know what your getting and if you loved the others it’s a guarantee you will this too.
It’s at the heart of it a good small town romance, full of love and goodness, sweetness and innocence to a degree.
Another solid read from Carrie I loved this family from the start, and I still love them now.
Falter by Carrie Aarons is book 4 in The Nash Brothers Series. This is the story of Fletcher Nash and Ryan Shea. I thought this could be a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Ryan is wanting to recharge and take a break so she heads for Fawn Hill and her best friend. There Fletcher has moved past some much and is trying to stay focused on sobriety and working toward his dream of an artist. Although he is past the time frame that you have to stay out of relationships he still doesn’t want to enter into one and just wants to stay focused. Ryan knows Fletcher has a whole lot of baggage that she should stay away from but their attraction is to strong.
Enjoyed their story.
Sigh, what an amazing final book in this series of the Nash Brothers! 5 amazing stars for this one!
So in the final book, we get Fletcher’s story. The long road to recovery he’s been on, and we get to see his feelings on his past. He’s had a rough life to say the least, but he’s cleaned himself up over the past five years, yet his family still worries he’ll slide back into his old ways. When Ryan comes back to town, he can’t deny the attraction he has to her, but will this hinder his sobriety, I mean it’s been 5 years since he’s been with a woman, but he see’s something in Ryan, can she be the one he can finally share his life with?
Ryan is hurting after her last relationship disaster. She comes to spend some time with her best friend in Fawn Hill, to try to put her life back together. She’s had a rough life, can she find her purpose here in Fawn Hill or will she run, like she always does, onto her next adventure.
The chemistry between these two characters is just wow! What a great way to say farewell to the Nash Brothers, a family I will not forget! If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to start NOW!
They saved the best Nash brother for last and I wasn’t disappointed. Ryan and Fletcher have been dancing around their feelings for years. When she returns after two years the chemistry is there but they both think that they are too broken to have a relationship with anyone. They can no longer deny their attraction and start of slow which of course then develops into much more. You see their struggles and Fletcher’s battle with his demons and I must say I read this book teary eyed just reading how he felt about his addiction and feeling not worthy. It was heartbreaking and Ryan oh my she was amazing. She had her moments when I thought omg please don’t break his heart because she wasn’t use to being in one place but she didn’t. She changed into a completely different person and I loved it. I loved how they compromised and did things for each other. Loved them!!!!
Falter is the fourth and final book in the Nash Brothers series by one of my favorite authors, Carrie Aarons. I have loved every book in this series and this one is no different. Thank you, Carrie for not making me wait long for this book after Flutter. I was slowly falling for Fletcher with each book especially in Flutter that I couldn’t wait to completely fall in Falter. Damn. Did I ever.
Fletcher knew she was trouble. Ryan knew just he was too. They sensed it the first time they met years ago. That was exactly why when she was in town over a few weekends here and there they stayed away. But now…there was nowhere to run. Ryan needed to refresh her batteries after a bad breakup and a loss of career passion. Fawn Hill where her best friend found her passion, love, family, and friends was her best shot before she moved on to bigger places. It was just a pit stop. That’s what she thought anyway.
Fletcher has been sober for five years. And it’s been just as long since he has been with a woman. He didn’t date to date. He didn’t want to go down that path until he knew he found the girl he wanted to be with forever. He didn’t know if he could handle a broken heart. What he did know was if it was going to be anyone it was going to be Ryan Shea. They have been tip-toeing around their attraction for years and now she was here. At least for the summer. He knew he shouldn’t go there. She told him she has sworn off men and he told her he wasn’t the casual type. Not anymore. But what happens when the attraction is so great and they truly see the other when others don’t?
This book! This is what happens! My God…it is so good! I have been waiting for these two to get their heads out of their asses as the Nash Brothers would say for as long as they met. The build up is epic. Their story is explosive. I loved it all. The demons and all because without those they would be them.
Overall…Amazing! All of it. The characters. The story. The passion. The demons. The family. The love. The friendships. Loved it all. I hope to see them all again. Maybe a little YA with the youngsters. Hey! It could happen.
P.S. Carrie — That last line? Damn.
Quotes:
“Now, let me sleep. I’m an old woman, and if this isn’t a booty call, talking to anyone this late isn’t worth losing beauty rest.”
“This place really is something right out of Gilmore Girls,” I tell her, sipping my lemonade the minute it’s set down on the table.
“I’ve fantasized about you.”
He cocks an eyebrow. “I’d like to hear all of those, in vivid detail. But for now, I want to live up to them.”
Falter is the last book in Carrie Aaron’s beloved Nash brothers series that features the youngest of the brothers, Fletcher. It was incredibly well crafted, the characters were endearing, and the pace of the story made it unputdownable.
This story was captivatingly beautiful. The struggle with addiction was painted with a stark clarity and the reality of it was difficult but also so compelling. To say Fletcher and Ryan’s story was an easy journey would be a lie. But, that said, it might actually be my favorite. I love an overcomer. Falter is touching, heartbreaking and beautiful.
Carrie Aarons has done an outstanding job with this book and this whole series. She has written a wonderful series that delivers on so many levels. From small town romance, to single moms, to finding your home in the least expected place, Carrie hits every romance mark in the Nash Brothers series. I completely fell in love with the whole Nash family and the town of Fawn Hill. It’s a super sweet series and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves small town romances.
I have anxiously awaited each and every one of the books in the Nash Brothers series by Carrie Aarons. I was so excited to get Fletcher’s story! His background has set with me from the beginning. He has struggled with addiction, and continues to do so. Ryan has had her own set of problems as well. These two together complement each other perfectly. Together, they’re able to find happiness and lean on each other for support.
Carrie Aarons did a phenomenal job of showing the real struggle of addiction. It’s not something that you simply get over; it’s a daily struggle. I think that was what captivated me most in Falter.
I highly recomment the Nash Brothers series- and Falter does a phenomenal job of completing this family!
Falter(verb): (1) start to lose strength or momentum, (2) speak in a hesitant or unsteady voice, (3) move unsteadily or in a way that shows lack of confidence.
Fletcher was going full steam ahead, starting at the age of 14. But you can’t keep this speed up, especially when it’s fueled by self-destruction and grief. And not when you are hiding from yourself. Fletcher may have faltered as he delved into the world of addiction, but he wasn’t the only one. Ryan had faltered and stuttered to stop herself. And maybe that’s why those two were so drawn to each other: the recognized the pain buried so deep yet the need to reach out and connect.
I think what made these characters so interesting is they were both willing to pull themselves up by their shoestrings, even if it was a painful process. Fletcher found definition in his world via his hands and woodwork, Ryan through coding and computers. And their attraction, and denial of said attraction, made it all the more fun.
This wouldn’t be a Nash brothers story if we didn’t get a visit from all of the brothers and the entire Nash clan. What we learn from Ryan and Fletcher is that even if you stumble, falter if you will, your support network will be there to help you. All you have to do is ask. And that’s the beauty of this family and Aarons’ writing; she gets it and passes it along for us to enjoy and revel in.
Fawn Hill is not just a fictional town but a place where Carrie Aaron shows us anything is possible when it comes to love. We have the baby of the Nash brothers and boy is Fletcher sexy. I loved how far he has come since Keaton and Presley’s book rooting for him all the way. Then we have Ryan finally opening up and making us see what she really is like. Loved this series seeing it end but happy in a way seeing their happiness even Fletchers. Great job Carrie Aaron’s in this beautiful series.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Falter is the last book in Carrie Aaron’s beloved Nash brothers series that features the youngest of the crew, Fletcher. If you have read each of these books in this series, then you know Fletcher had the biggest character arc of all the brothers. When we first meet Fletcher he is still reeling from the death of his father and his addictions. For years this Nash brother has been recovering from his demons. Scared of the triggers change can cause, Fletcher avoided life, love and change until Ryan returned.
Ryan was also a character we met previously in this series. However, you didn’t have to read any of the prior books to get a read on Ryan. She is Presley’s best pal, however you hardly know much about this coder and computer nerd until she returns to Fawn Hill heartbroken by her last relationship. Ryan and Fletcher have always had that chemistry, but neither has tried to act until now. Aaron’s pairs these two in a relationship that is completely addictive all on it’s own. From hot sex scenes to sweet, heartfelt emotions Fletcher and Ryan’s connection is impressive to say the least and well worth your read.
Aaron’s really wrote a wonderful series that delivered on many levels. From small town romance, to single moms, to finding your home in the least expected place, Aaron’s hit every romance mark in the Nash Brothers series. Whether you start at the beginning or with Falter, you’ll meet a brother and his love that’ll make your toes curl and your heartbeat a little faster from all the happily ever goodness Aaron’s delivers. This is not a book or a series you want to bypass.
