This is a captivating story that I did not want to put down. The author quickly drew me into this deftly woven story and had me staying up way too late to finish. I don’t want to give anything away so hesitate to say much. There is plenty of suspense, an unexpected romance, and moments of fear and terror that pour off the page. A well crafted story that is well worth reading.
Wow, this book was amazing! It definitely had the suspense, romance, and all the feels. Rachel is on the run but where do you run when what you’re running from can find you anywhere?! This gripped me from beginning to end! For this being the authors debut novel you would never know it. She did a spectacular job. Definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and romance. Can’t wait to read more!
I loved this story. Great characters and the story is written well. Starts in present then gives the back story before the finale. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
False Security is a story about one woman’s determination to escape and stay ahead of the man she once loved.
Rachel Thomas has been on the run for 3 years from Donovan King, because she knows if he catches her it could mean her death.
However, falling for Mark Jacobson in Wichita Kansas has put her at risk more than she can know. When it comes time, Rachel will have to decide if she’s willing to risk everything to stay with the man she’s fallen in love with and trust him with her past and put him in danger. Or should she continue to run and never live a normal life constantly looking over her shoulder?
Starting out this book is a bit slow. It’s divided into 3 parts, part one being the present time and the developing relationship between Rachel & Mark, part two is the past and how Rachel came to be who she is and why she’s running, and part three is back to the present (not giving away any spoilers here).
I do have a couple complaints about this story. The intricate details the author seemed to need to do when describing rooms got a bit on my nerves. I knew more about what the rooms in a house looked like than I did about what the characters did. The last thing that annoyed me was the time hopping. There’s nor break or explanation when time is jumping. It goes from Rachel and Mark having a coffee date, to 5 days later. The past goes from the first time Rachel is hit to 4 years later. There are times when the gaps are necessary, which is fine. It would just be nice if the author kind of put a subtitle telling how many years past.
Rachel and Danielle teaching martial arts to battered women. Rachel wants a life that is normal, but normal has been on the move, the nightmares, the fear. She excepts a coffee date from Mark, owner of the bookstore. He fell for those green eyes at once. For her, the love of books, easy to talk with.
Then the nightmares, sitting up at night with a gun. Now one knows how intense her life has been, you want pieces to fill in why this man is set out to kill her. This continues on with book two. Great characters, love the solid love Mark has for her, where you go I will go. Tense, and good plot.

This is a different kind of story for me and I enjoyed it very much. I liked the characters and all were multi-dimensional. Paul left me scratching my head and Mark was probably the least complicated. They were all interesting and seemed like real people.
I would recommend this book.

Heart-pounding, stupefying horror in a psychological thriller
That Does it. Angie Martin has just hit the top of my list with False Security. I have never read a thriller that was more moving, more enthralling, more horrifying, or more realistic. No paranormal elements, no special ops hero interventions, nothing but an ordinary young man, Mark, who falls for a quiet and very reclusive young woman, Rachel. It takes nearly the full length of the novel to unravel who Rachel is, and exactly the same timespan to grasp WHY, and that’s where the horror lies. I don’t do spoilers, and there is no element of Martin’s exquisitely plotted novel that isn’t a spoiler. I can say only that if close encounters of the criminal kind fascinate you, if the persistent threat of unimaginable evil enthralls you, if shock and suspense keep you glued to your e-reader, False Security will blow your mind. With its near-photographic clarity and relentless detail, Martin’s brilliant tale tale of love and evil will haunt you long after you finish reading. My thanks to Bookspsrout for the ARC, and this is my voluntary, independent and uncompensated opinion.
A masterful suspense novel told in three parts Part one-Rachel is running. The reader doesn’t know who she is or why she is running. She is trying to live a normal life with her friend Danielle and falls for Mark, a bookstore owner, although Rachel knows it is not smart to get too close to anyone. Ms Martin then cleverly takes us back sixteen years earlier as we learn about Rachel’s life at the estate. Part three brings us back to the present – as the story comes to it’s conclusion some questions are answered- but not all. This novel deals with the difficult topic of abuse, although beautifully written I found it upsetting at times. A definite page turner that does not disappoint
A fast paced suspense thriller. I loved how it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The characters were easy to read and their relationship was sweet.
I look forward to seeing what happens next.
A great suspenseful read that holds your attention giving you hours of pleasure. It is a unique story with a great plot that is fast paced with wonderful twists and turns, what an emotional rollercoaster ride. The author holds her cards close as she gives you just enough information to hold your attention. A woman past is about to catch up with her, her life is full of mystery and danger.
There were times I held by breath as the author made my heart beat faster. The romance is very touching and the thrills are exciting. I really enjoyed the romance, the thrills and the mystery. The author captivated me with a story I couldn’t put down. I thought it was well thought-out with a lot of thought given to the suspense and keeping the reader hooked.
