Megan Scott works for a publishing company, helping authors finish their books or acts as their ghost writer. She is working with author Michael Elliot to finish his book. Suddenly she is notified that her husband has been found dead, in a cabin along side her best friend who is also dead. The police suspect her and Michael who they assume are lovers who wanted her husband out of the way. They are hounded by the police and must prove their innocence. They suspect several other people and try to see if they can get the police to look at these other people for the murders…
This is a cute “Who dunit.” The young wife of an up and coming young man is visited by police. Seems her husband is dead. Of course she is prime suspect, along with her current client. She works for a publisher as a “ghost writer”, a person who reads the initial writing of an author and recommends changes to make the book better. Since it is a short deadline they work long hours and into the evening, often dining together.
You know, the police take a dim view of suspects using each other as witnesses to their whereabouts.
Several interesting characters keep the story interesting until the confirmation in the end of who actually committed the crime.
Enjoy the book and see if you figure it out before the end, I recommend it for young readers, mostly teenage or better years, on up.
Megan Scott is a free lancer for a publishing company in Montreal. She meets Michael who is an investigative journalist writing his second book. Because of Michael’s schedule and Megan’s husband being out of town for work, they revise the manuscript in the evenings and conclude with dinner. They develop a caring but not sexual relationship.
Murder ensues with both of them being prime suspects. They feel that to protect themselves they must find out who actually did the murder. This provides a mystery that the reader does not want to put down.
Very good book !
Good mystery. Cliff hanger ending.
Good
This book was pretty good from the standpoint of character building. However, parts of it read like Megan’s journal. I didn’t need pages telling me she did absolutely nothing from Tuesday to Thursday. That part was just odd. However, the mystery was good and the dialogue believable while keeping my attention. I figured out the mystery too early, but overall decent book.
Great read

Two very different (one tragic) victims must squirm their way out of murder charges. Boy, do they squirm!
Reading this is a nice way to spend an evening
Enjoyed it very much
Enjoyed this book, the characters and look forward to reading more of her books.
Compelling read. Some so-so writing, but fun and easy. Helps if you are familiar with Montreal and its environs.
3.5 Short short review. A well crafted story with a good murder mystery. I love the relationship between Megan and Michael and am looking forward to continuing the series.
Good book but some parts got a little long.
Enjoy the story. Kept my attention and good mystery. Just enough romance to keep it entertaining for someone who likes romantic suspense.
This was a great intro to the author, so I am reading more!
This book started off gang busters. Mid way I lost interest in reading every vague detail. But I did care enough to read the last 3rd. No big surprises here. Not sure I would look up any more books in this series. I gave it a 3 star because the first 13rd was so good there may be hope for this author.
Loved this book!
A good read. Great plot, good characters, enjoyed it.
