This is my first book by Alyson Santos, the blurb grabbed me as I love rockstar romance stories. Xander story was fantastic, I enjoyed it immensely, I liked the depth of his story with Lydia, the character’s backstory and how they evolved was intriguing. I definitely will try to read the previous book and more by Alyson Santos. I liked her writing and this book got me from page one until the end. I totally recommend it!
Holy hotness!
I absolutely loved this book. It has great characters and a story so heartbreaking that it will totally break your heart. We have two amazing brothers that have been through so much and try desperately to dig themselves out of their past.
In comes Lydia and she tilts their world. She strong, independent and knows her stuff. She has her eyes on one brother while the other has his eyes on her. What a great read! I laughed, cried and fell in love.

How does she keep doing this to me?! Just when I think no one could ever top Mason West, Alyson swoops in and gives us Xander Silva. My heart can’t take it! I loved this book. I loved it I loved it I loved it. Xander is such an incredibly deep character, he was so guarded and drowning in the sorrows and pains of his life. Taking care of brother, putting everything and everyone before himself. I felt for him, I was rooting for him. I just wanted to hug him and hold him tight. I absolutely loved watching Xander’s relationship with Lydia blossom despite all the demons to overcome. There were so many moments that kept me turning pages, I seriously could not put this book down once I started. Alyson Santos is an incredible writer and storyteller, and no one writes musicians as well as she does!
You so not want to miss out on this incredible story!
A phenomenal must read. Falling North is an absolutely page-turner that I read in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down.
After reading Ms. Santos’ Rising West I became an instant fan and couldn’t wait for the release of this book that takes us back into the world of music. In this installment readers are introduced to Falling Back North and the two brothers leading the band whose pasts have a profound affect on their music and their futures. Making things even more complicated for the brothers is their meeting Lydia Carmichael, marketing expert, who proves to be quite a temptation to both of them. With each turn of the page music and matters of the heart wage war as Xander and Matty Silva try to find success after surviving a heartbreaking childhood. While they try to make the most of their second chance their past once again rears its ugly head to make this story one that pulled at my heartstrings while I rooted for them to get just what they desire.
Xander and Matty Silva’s childhood had them depending on only themselves. Xander, as the big brother, practically raised Matty himself and he’s sacrificed much to keep him safe and happy throughout the years. He’s the studious brother, the one who endlessly worries about their future to the exclusion of what he wants. His protectiveness and his big heart are a definite attraction though, and adding in a sexiness that he’s unaware of makes him an even more delicious hero. He’s a soulful lead character who I wanted to hug every second…among other naughty things I wanted to do. Matty’s a bit more carefree in comparison, embracing the sexy label bestowed upon him wholeheartedly. Behind that carefree facade though lies a little boy with battered self-esteem that nearly crushed him as a child and that is reawakened whenever he feels rejected now. I liked Matty and found myself equally protective of him, especially in his early interactions with Lydia that heaped even more guilt on the already conflicted Xander and his growing attraction to Lydia. It’s a rocky time between the brothers where she’s concerned but when their past returns they’ll rely on each other more than ever in an emotional journey full of ups and downs.
Lydia’s a true temptation…especially to Xander who’s trying to stay focused on the band’s career while not interfering in Matty’s unrequited attraction to Lydia. She too has something to prove as the daughter of a famous father and desperately wants Falling Back North to succeed. Her attraction to Xander’s more than obvious from the start and they continued to sizzle every time they’re together. She freely admits her attraction, admits its problematic, but it’s a slow burn between the two of them that had me rooting for them to give in to their desires. Lydia was an immensely likable heroine, a strong-willed one who was a good support to Xander. She saw into his soul, the bruises life left on it, and supports him through all the changes being thrown his way. The connection between her and Xander was one between adults, while Matty’s attraction felt more puppy dog-ish, so I know which pairing I was rooting for and Ms. Santos didn’t disappoint me.
As a fan of rockstar romances I found this book to be a decadently delightful addition to the genre. From the larger than life band, to a romance teeming with sexual tension, to the heartbreaking past of the main characters, I was utterly captivated by this story. I absolutely fell for Xander, both his sexy exterior and soulful interior, and am still dreaming of him. Lydia was a strong heroine and I appreciated all that she brought to Xander’s life, all the conflict and moments of happiness, that had me frantically turning the pages. Their romance was both sweet and sensual and I quickly became invested in their journey. Along with this powerful main couple was a small cast of secondary characters, notably Matty. He’s a charming young man whose moments of uncertainty endeared him to me. I was drawn to his dichotomy of self-assuredness and weakened self-esteem and look forward to seeing more of him in the future. I also enjoyed the depictions of the music world, both behind the scenes and on stage. The depictions were realistic and made me feel a part of all the ups and downs with each beat of the song pounding at my heart. By the turn of the final page I was left immensely satisfied, and had found another book boyfriend to drool over, which has me recommending it to all the other fans of rock star romances.
This is the second book in the Turner Artist Rocker Series, and the story of Xander, and Lydia. This was another hit from this author, this was well written, the characters captivated me, and had great chemistry. This was emotional, passionate, steamy, dramatic, intense, and entertaining.
This book gave me all the feels as does most Alyson’s writing cause she writes with such a intensity that you have no choice but to be dragged along the pages with that characters. Xander and Mattys brotherly devotion was incredible and there story tragic but they are determined to turn there tragedy to success, enter Lydia the marketing specialist that is suppose to turn his band around. Xander and Lydia has a instant connection but this was a slow burn romance so you went along the ride with them with every emotion they had. When past demons come back to haunt Xander you don’t know what’s going to happen next
I am always completely in awe of Alyson’s enormous talent. It’s obvious that she has extensive musical knowledge as she conveys that in her enriching, intelligent and unique writing. Her characters are humble, genuine, selfless and bring such emotional depth to her stories. To say that I’m a fan of her work would be an understatement. I absolutely love it! She is one of my go-to authors and when one of her books drops on my kindle, I immediately clear my schedule to curl up and get lost in her words.
In Falling North we are introduced to two brothers with a troubled past trying to create a name for themselves in the music industry. Not having full creative rights to their songs has taken away from their unique sound, which hasn’t helped their success. So Turner Music sends in Lydia Carmichael, a respected marketing specialist, to help save the band. After some rebranding, things are finally looking up until ghosts from the past reemerge and threaten their success.
Xander and Matty’s story was heartbreaking, but together they were able to get through anything. Their bond, love and devotion to one another was absolutely awe-inspiring. And Xander and Lydia had an immediate connection and chemistry that was off the charts. This slow-burn story is packed with so much emotion and sexual tension that I was furiously flipping the pages while squirming with anticipation. This is one journey that you simply do not want to miss. Five stars and more for Xander, Matty, Lydia and Falling North!
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
To say that I was excited for this book is an understatement! After finishing Rising West earlier this year, I knew I needed to read the next book in the Turner Artist Rocker Series. And I am so glad that I did!
Lydia and Xander are probably my favorite of the series. From the very beginning, you are drawn into the story, needing to know more about what is going on. Matty and Xander pull you in, leave you breathless, and you can’t help but continue because you have to be part of their story, even if it is just for a little while. Then you have Lydia. This girl is my girl crush. She knows what she wants and she isn’t afraid to take it.
Bringing them together was a beautiful work of art that took form in a sensuous, slow burn romance that had you on your knees, loving each and every moment between them. Throughout, you are experiencing every single emotion as the characters pull them out of you. You can’t help but feel each and every possible thing that Alyson throws out there.
The character dynamic is top notch, but then you add the details that Alyson pulls into the story and you feel like you are there, in the moment, watching it all unfold in front of you like you are in a theater and this was a movie, instead of a book. Every moment is perfectly choreographed, detailed to the smallest part, so that you feel all of it. I can’t say enough about it.
Five stars for this emotional, angsty rockstar romance that will keep you pulled in to the story with every page you turn.
Falling North was an intense, full of emotions, heartbreaking and heartwarming read.
Lydia is a PR hired to help a new struggling band to get the attention of the public it deserves.
Xander and his brother, Matty, form the Falling Back North with their cousins.
Lydia’s work is not easy because it seems that the two brothers don’t have any narrative to grab the fans attention, in fact Xander made everything in his power to bury their past but really soon he will have to confront with his demons.
I’ve appreciates how Xander and Lydia tried to ignore their attraction for each other and their burning chemestry in order to protect their job and family but you know when real Love is in the air you don’t get any chance.
I recommend this book and the previous Alyson Santos works because she is my favourite author when it gets to Rock Bands romance.
Omggggg!!!! Rising West was so amazing and now Falling North is PERFECTION! So sexy, so emotional… I am SO in love with Santos’s words!
I absolutely cannot get enough of the slow burn, rock star romance books from Alyson Santos. For each new character brings emotional depth, great charm, and undeniable vulnerabilities to her beautiful stories. Her beautiful gift of writing cultivates a true kinship between character and reader establishing a connection you feel from beginning to end.
In Falling North Santos offers a new kind of scenario for her rockers: two brothers trying to create a name for themselves in the music industry while simultaneously outrunning their many demons. Our main, male protagonist, Xander Silva, will leave you in awe. He’s a brilliant blend of complex, tortured, and beyond loyal while full of love and little hope. His presence in this story stays with you long after the end – he’s what true “book boyfriends” are made of. His counterpart in the female lead character works wonders for the chemistry and structuring of this story. Her confidence, attitude, and understanding will have you loving her.
The familial and friend connections in this book also really make it shine off from the pages. Santos has made a family story out of this book too which works so well for what these characters need in their lives. It’s angsty and tough but full of overwhelming light and engaging romance creating a solid connection to these characters. The Turner Artist Rocker series and Falling North having quickly landed on my favorite rocker romance list. I highly recommend to all romance lovers.
How can you not fall madly in love with this story and awesome characters. I was floored with how much more than a rockstar romance this book is. The power of family, specifically brotherhood is revered in a heartwarming way all throughout this read.
This is about a band chasing their dream and the bumpy journey filled with road blocks. Right away you see a major one, they both have notice their beautiful new pr rep who is on tour with them. Throw in dark elements and people from their abusive childhood, well I might have gotten a little choked up at times.
The descriptiveness of this author is magically done. I fell deep into the beauty of this story’s telling, driving my need to shut the rest of the world out. It is noticeable that this author has musical interests herself by how her words often flow like a song or poetry.
UGH! This book is sooo good. I need a good book club so I can discuss all. Eek. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO.
Xander Silva is the writer and drummer for Falling Back North
Lydia is the marketing director to help get them on the map.
Xander’s brother crushes on Lydia Carmichael and Xander always put his brother first to protect him.
Xander and Matty have been through so very much that your heart hurts for them. There is such a traumatic past and Xander took the brunt of so much being the older brother.
Will things fall into place? Will ghosts of the past ruin everything? Will there be a happy ending?
I always say if I ever start a blog… it would be called Milly Reads So Much More than Romance and that is what Falling North is!!
Alyson Santos delivers another beautiful heartfelt book-what a beautiful story of brokenness. Lines like this show her amazing talent to tell a story:
“If he’s the canvas and I’m the frame, does it mean that together we’re a masterpiece?”
Xander has taken in the world around him, always taking care of everyone. In walks Lydia Carmichael and she is AMAZING!!
I loved Lydia’s strength and love for Xander and how she fought for him. I love how their story develops, slow burn but real! Their chemistry is amazing but is so much more than that!!
There are so many life lessons we can learn from in this book- you don’t have to do life alone, fight for those you love, see the bigger picture in life, I could go on!!
This book really touched me. It’s a top 2020 read!! Thank you Alyson Santos for giving us love stories that are real and make us feel!!
FALLING NORTH: Is “NOW” my very favorite book written by Alyson Santos. The reason I say this is because of the leading male character Xander & his younger brother Maddie. Their story is heart-wrenching and their bond and devotion to each other is the most solid unbreakable connection you will ever read. With this book Alyson has taken her writing to a new level.
The band Falling Back North has so much talent and potential. Xander Silva, the band leader and drummer, has been so stressed that they aren’t being allowed to be who they are. They have their music controlled by people that are ruining their unique sound. The agency throws a Hail Mary by hiring the respected marketing genius Lydia Carmichael. Besides from being very good at her job, she is gorgeous. The brothers Xander and Maddie have both previously met Lydia. This was before she was hired to save their band. She was enamored and desired by both in their own way. This is not the usual love-triangle. Both man think she could be their everything. But Xander would give up his very life if it would save his brother. Lydia only wants the one brother that way, but she is determined to save both and their band, too. Quite a woman! All the main characters in this book are wonderful! They will break your heart, then end up mending it. “This is the man I saw on stage that first night. The one I’ve been searching for ever since. I did this. Me, the girl who doesn’t take risks and risked everything to find him in the darkness and drag him toward the light.”
Love the music lyrics and they tell a story of their own:
“The distance between us, a mile and a day. Searching for you, I saw your light a second too late. I’d circle the earth for a stolen moment or two. Clearly I’m lost now that I’ve found you.”
“I came north of hell to find you south of love. You were flying high when I closed in, just not close enough.”
“I’m right here where you’re far. Can you hear my breaking heart?
How do I reach you Always stranded south of love?”
4.5 Stars
This is book 2 in the Turner Artist series and it was another cracking read! Xander and Matty haven’t had the best start in life, but they have always had each other and the strength of their bond is clear, when things finally start looking up for them they hit a couple of stumbling blocks.
What I love about these Rock Star books is the strength of the characters. Xander is a protector, always putting others first, even to the detriment of himself. I love his loyalty and his kindness, despite his hard start in life. Matty portrays himself as the cocky front man, but there is so much more depth to him, and it grows throughout the story.
Lydia is the light that both are attracted to. Feisty, smart and strong she helps them fight their battles and they all come out stronger for it.
I loved the cameo from Jesse, I felt the connection was so real and believable.
I absolutely love the way that the author makes you fall in love with her characters and makes you feel what they’re feeling. I knew I wanted to read this book before it was even written! LOL I read the first book in the series and couldn’t wait for this one.
Is the past going to take away the future for these brothers? Is Lydia going to be able to be able to pull it all together not just for the band but for her and the man she fell in love with?
Slow burn, heart wrenching, page turning are just a few words to describe this book. It’s one you’re definitely not going to want to miss!
I didn’t think anything could top book #1, Rising West in this brilliant series from Alyson Santos. In Falling North we are introduced to brothers, Xander and Matty, founders of the band Falling North. Sadly, their group should be in the limelight but there is something holding them back. It is decided that they need a marketing manager. Of course they would be assigned an amazingly beautiful and exceptionally brilliant woman who is also the “bosses daughter”. Demons from the past haunt the present and threaten the future for the brothers as well as Lydia, the marketing manager. Alyson Santos has woven a tale so emotionally addictive you will not be able to breath until the end. Of course at the end, you will need the stories of the other band members once the book haze has dispersed and your heart can beat again.
