EvangelineTen years ago we said goodbye.I left the world I once loved to create a new life for myself. Away from the lies. Away from the pain.I thought I was at the top of my game, but little did I know that everything from my past was about to penetrate my present.CarterFor ten years I’ve had to live with knowing that following my dreams lead to the love of my life disappearing from everyone she … my life disappearing from everyone she knew and loved. I should have been by her side but I was thousands of miles away. I’ve never stopped searching for her and I vowed I never would.
When she turns up in the most unbelievable of places, I work quickly to make sure she doesn’t know I’m here, too. I have to hide the truth until everything is in line so she doesn’t run on me again.
This time, I will get the forever she promised me all those years ago.

Steamy and very enjoyable
I really really enjoyed this book. Its the first book in that I’ve read that made me think about the characters loge after I was done. Their stories were realistic, and I enjoyed their interaction. Very good read.
Definitely different than where I thought it was going, loved it
I would never have thought that I would enjoy a love-triangle as much as I loved this one! These are some fun characters and this story was hot, hot, hot stuff!
** spoilers!
I liked the storyline of this book a lot. I love when a story has two characters that have high intensity and emotions and one runs from the other and it ends up creating havoc for years and then they come back together. The only thing I wished would have been different here is that both guys would have been her choice. I was really rooting for her to not be able to choose and then they created something more than what Carter & Evangeline had years ago. I really felt like her and Cole had something more than what her and “secret” had do it was a little of a let down for me. The last 3-4 chapters felt like it was rushed to put the two back where they started, and Cole was just left in the dust. Honestly though this was a good book. The writing is amazing, the characters had good build up and the storyline was satisfying.
I loved it.
loved it great story
Hot, second chance romance. Had me in my feels!
Very intense love story. True soulmates. Loved this book.
A good read, it was hard to put down
I really enjoy 2nd chance romances, and this one certainly does not disappoint. It has the added benefit of a surprising threesome with some unexpected twists and plenty of steamy passion. The emotional drama feels real, the characters are well drawn, and the storyline is easy to read, holding your interest from start to finish. It’s an engaging tale that will keep you entertained and leave you satisfied.
Great read
FALLING INTO THE BLACK is the latest book by Lauren Runow and I have read them all. This book is loosely connected to BLACK WIDOW. It can be read as a standalone, but read BLACK WIDOW anyway because it is that good. This book revolves around Evangeline (Angie), Carter (Dr. of Pediatric Oncologist) and Cole (Professor C. Spence). Told from all three points of view, and visits the then and now.
Evangeline had moved away from home ten years ago, and never wanted to look back. She left that world behind her, including her name and now went by Angie Smith. She moved to San Francisco and started a new life, not wishing to be found. Things were going as planned, until fate stepped in, bringing all the painful past rushing back.
Carter had a dream of some day becoming a doctor. He invested all his time in high school to achieving that goal. When he got a full scholarship to UCLA, he was sure all his dreams would come true. It was an opportunity of a life time, and chance to get out of a small, middle-of-nowhere, town in Minnesota. The only downside was he had to “temporarily” leave his girl behind. He never thought she would just disappear, and ten years later he still is searching for her, and grieving the lost love.
Cole is a successful lawyer and teacher. He has no desire for any kind of relationship, but sure likes the physical side of the females. Club Bridge has been exactly what he needed, and so with his best-friend Carter, they find the perfect distraction with any of the willing female members. Until one very hot & sexy new member named Evangeline seems to come between them in more ways then they like.
All books written by Lauren Runow show her love of music. The theme song for this book is FALLING INSIDE THE BLACK by Skillet. The title and lyrics show why:
Falling in the black
Slipping through the cracks
Falling through the depths, can I ever go back?
Dreaming of the way it used to be, can you hear me?
Falling in the black, slipping through the cracks
Falling through the depths, can I ever go back?
Falling inside the black
Falling inside, falling inside
Falling into the Black was a pretty good read. The changing of the the male and female POV was something that i found was needed to follow how each of the characters were taking the way that things were playing out. I liked the chapters that gave you a insight into the past years, it was something that helped with the unfolding of the characters current situation. there is a love triangle in away that is being played out, so if you are one that is not into this kind of storyline then this is not for you.
I loved this book so much! I’d go as far as to say that it’s one of the author’s best works. It’s a slow burn but the second guy added lots more excitement to the story. There were lots of confused feelings and so much suspense as to when the two of them would finally meet. I have so much love for this book! It was emotional on a deep level without being too cheesy.
The Story:
Angie has a good life. She loves her job and likes her boss who also became a close friend to her which, being honest, is like the closest friend she has as she doesn’t let anyone really close to her.
As hard as she tries to, the past is still in the back of her mind and when she isn’t careful enough, the memories of what once was and what happened overtake her and guilt and sorrow override all other feelings.
Enrolling in a law introduction class has her all excited and eager to make more of her life. The hot and flirty teacher is a great bonus too. And it seems like they both hit it off pretty good.
When her boss and friend ask her for help at the Club Bridge, she’s really excited and jumps on the opportunity. Never would she have guessed though, who she would meet there.
Carter loved her even before she knew it and when she run, she was all he could think of and never gave up looking for her. His love is a promise to her which he will never break and he knows that one day, he will have her back again and start their forever as they have always planned to.
Thoughts:
The story was told from Evangeline, Carter and Cole’s POV which made it much more exciting. It also gave glimpses into the past when the characters were reminiscent about them growing up which gave the reader more background information of what happened between Angie and Carter in the beginning.
I’m glad the acknowledgements were at the end of the book because if I would have known beforehand that the author wasn’t sure who she wanted Evangeline to end up with, it would have been a hell of a lot harder on my heart during this read. It was suspenseful enough for me already to wait until the time came for them to meet again and the outcome and the ending of the book were perfectly chosen! I was glad the author went down this road. Although I felt a bit bad for the other guy, there was just no other outcome for me really.
I highlighted so much in this book and almost finished it in one go. I could rave about it all day long but it wouldn’t make much sense so please go and read this book! It’s awesome! Love triangle with lots of confused emotions especially for Angie and some turns of events you don’t see coming.
Falling into the Black is a sexy and emotional second chance romance. We meet Angie, who helps her friend out at her sex club where she meets two masked men. The guys are hot! I liked Cole but I loved Carter! He was my favorite! I loved Angie, she was awesome! Alot of hot and kinky sex scenes!! I really loved this book! This is a must read! Can’t really say much more because I hate spoilers so buy this book and you will not be disappointed!!
Where do I begin? This story pulled me in from the very beginning, “Angie” has had one helluva past and she’s focused on herself right now. We’re taken back into Bridge and if you’ve read Black Widow like have you’ll love how it intertwines but at the same time this book is a standalone that you’ll absolutely enjoy. The scenes that we get to share in with her and these two men are sexy and oh so hot. It’s not just about the BDSM club, there’s so much more to these characters that you feel for them and want to cheer them on. Beautifully written and will have you hanging on each and every word. You’ll smile, laugh, cry and even get a bit uncomfortable in the best way possible. A MUST READ without a doubt. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
This was hard to get into couldn’t connect with the characters.
What an awesome story. Falling into the Black was a gripping, intense novel with a plot twist that had me hooked until the very end. Love triangle, intense emotions, heartbreak, and sexy scenes are just some of what you’ll find in this book.
Lauren Runow did an fantastic job with this novel. Carter and Evangeline and Cole were all amazing well developed, complex characters who were all so likable that you ended up rooting for all of them. I really couldn’t decide who I liked best.
The plot was so well-written with twists and turns that kept me glued to the seat. When I thought the story was going in one direction, it turned around and went elsewhere.
Told in all three point of view, with snippets from the past, this second chance novel will have you on an emotional roller-coaster ride and what a ride it was filled with so much passion and angst.
This page-turner is an excellent read.
Wonderful!! Incredible!!! What else can I say. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and it was amazing!! I loved this story about Evangeline, Carter and Cole. It made me laugh, cry, scream (I thought it was going a different direction and thankfully I was wrong) but in the end things worked out exactly as they were meant to. I hope in the future we are lucky enough to read Cole’s story and also visit with the other characters from the previous books. If you are looking for a steamy well written book then this is the one for you.
