A well written story by two very good Authors Sarah Fischer and Kelsey McKnight. Aiden Hughes returns to Birdsong after a scandal touched his professional reporting world, he meets the founder of a dog rescue Emily McLane. I enjoyed seeing their story come together. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love books with animals in it. This book is a clean romance about a Aiden, a journalist and Emily a dog rescuer. Aiden is let go over a story mishap and returns to Birdsong, a small hometown where his Aunt lives. Aiden takes a job at the local newspaper and meets Emily. He offers to take pictures of the dogs to help get them adopted. They develop a friendship but will it work out? Read it!
Falling in Puppy Love by Sarah Fischer and Kelsey McKnight
He’s used to stories with no happy ending…
Aiden Hughes never expected to return to Birdsong, but after a scandal rocked his professional world the former hard-hitting reporter needs a plan B. Covering local events for the small town newspaper after chasing down national news is a huge step backwards. But when he interviews the founder of a dog rescue whose heart is bigger than New York City, he wonders if there’s more to life than his byline in a prestigious paper.
Emily McLane has always had a sweet spot for animals. She plans an ambitious adoption festival to fund the expansion of her beloved dog rescue, but she needs publicity. When a former local boy offers to help her design a promotion, she finds herself falling in love for the first time.
They both have big dreams, but Aiden’s will take him far from Birdsong. Will they follow their hearts or are they only falling in puppy love?
This is Emily McLane and Aiden Hughes’s story.
Emily felt like a fraud. What was she supposed to do? She wasn’t a model. Most days she was lucky if she had time to brush both her teeth and her hair. Okay, that was dramatic, she had time to do those things. But a photo shoot? No, she hadn’t done one since she was fifteen and goofing off with her friends before a concert. Though at that time, it was with a cheap digital camera and the pictures were going on social media. But she had to try and act like one for the good of the nonprofit. If she looked like a hot mess in the paper, no one would trust her with donations or think of her as a dog expert. So instead of slinking back to her house and hiding from the camera, she started walking with the dogs, trying to look natural, or as close to it as possible.
“Talk to me about the dogs. If that’s something you love as much as you say, the passion should shine through on your face. It helps. Plus, it’ll help me figure out what kind of photo shoot we’re going to do.”
Plus, it’ll help me figure out what kind of photo shoot we’re going to do.”
Aiden Hughes pulled up to his great aunt’s Victorian-style house in the dead center of Birdsong, Pennsylvania. Dead was the operative word in the scenario, as the only things he’d passed on his way through town were a tiny strip mall, a post office, a municipal building, and a few farming supply stores tucked between homes. There wasn’t a single chain restaurant for more than fifty miles. Nothing had changed since he and mother had moved away seventeen years ago.
He parked his Mustang at the curb and gave it a forlorn pat when he climbed out. The car had been a treat to himself when he thought he was going to make it big in the world of investigative journalism in New York City. He had a grand vision of himself as a hotshot, racing to the scene of a crime or a political upheaval in his shiny red roadster, the flash of his Fujifilm X-T30 camera lighting the way to history.
Of course, no one really needed a car in New York, but he’d gotten it anyway. He paid more for his covered garage parking spot than some people did for a car payment. Now, looking back at the car he loved so dearly, he felt like he was being mocked. Freelance work wasn’t coming fast enough to pay his bills. He’d have to sell the car soon. Maybe give it to someone who hadn’t ruined their dream.
I highly recommend reading.

Falling in Puppy Love
Aiden Hughes has come home to Birdsong where his Aunt lives and he spent his teenage years visiting, with his tail between his legs so to speak. Being a reporter is never easy and being one in New York is extra hard. Aiden wrote a story and told his boss to hold off on printing it until he could double-check all the facts. BUT no they printed it and all you know what hit the fan and landed squarely on him. Thus pushing him out the door. He ends up back in the little town with his Aunt, for company writing articles in the local newspaper. Not cutting edge stuff but it does lead him towards Emily McLane and her band of misfit dogs. I so loved reading this book as it reminds me so much of the small towns around where I went to college and even the town I live in now. Life would be so much sweeter if we all treated people the way Emily treats the critters she comes in contact with. And maybe that is what touches Aiden deep down? This book is written by two amazing authors but let me just say there is no way to tell it was not penned by one person. It reads like a Hallmark movie and is ready for them to shoot it as it is.
I fell in love with Aiden Hughes from page 1 ,I think you will fall in love with him as well as he transitioning from writing for a big newspaper to small time in Birdsong. Where he’s sent back down to minor league in the form of writing puff stories like pie recipes for the fall segment .An enjoyable fall read with puppies and fall festival and love at 1st first sight thrown in the mix.
Emily runs a non-profit dog rescue out of her home. Aiden is a journalist for newspapers, but he is between jobs and visiting family in her town of Birdsong. He starts to help her with photos of her dogs and the website to help find homes for them all. One is his favorite, Maple, is a dog who runs around with wheels instead of back legs. They develop their feelings while they plan to convert her family farm into a large rescue facility. The characters are fantastic and their backstories give them a lot of depth and feeling. The tension comes when he has to decide what to do with his future. Intense emotional feelings surface between them as they try to figure out their futures. The locales of the town and farm and festival were picturesque. The ending is so worth the wait.

This was a wonderful, clean, slow burn, small town romance. There were big themes of dogs, reporting, and small town highlights. I really liked how this showcased the relationship being built. I liked enjoying different fall activities with our mains and exploring the small town. I can’t wait to see what these authors come up with next!

With fall in the air this is the perfect read. Starting over and finding love is not what Aiden expected when he returned to Birdsong after a sandal in his journalism career. Now covering the local events of small town newspaper, when he meets local, Emily. Emily is a dog rescuer and has a huge heart for the four legged creatures. Aiden has volunteered his time in helping Emily with her web design. Soon feelings develop but will Aiden’s heart be happy in Birdsong?
Loved this story, a sweet romance that kept me turning the pages. Full of fall festivities. If you are a dog lover, this is definitely your story. I just want to adopt Maple. I highly recommend while drinking a warm cup of apple cider.
This is the 2nd book I’ve read written by Sarah Fischer; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

It’s a story of love and life choices, dreams and happiness. It’s well written with detailed scenes, moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.
Falling in Puppy Love is a new book by Sarah Fischer and Kelsey McKnight. This is the perfect book to get you in the mood for the Fall season. After reading this you will be wanting to cuddle up with Maple, have a apple cider and later carve a pumpkin.
Aiden and Emily’s story is about second chances and finding that special someone to hopefully find a forever life with. By working together will be able to help the rescues find one too.
I received a ARC of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I could even see this as possibly a Fall Harvest Hallmark movie.
The book is a good sweet small town romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry.

Can Aiden feel at home again in Birdsong, Pennsylvania?
Aiden Hughes
Aiden Hughes was this bigshot reporter in New York until he was fired, and now living in Birdsong, he’s confused about what he wants in life. He is a great character, and I love his development here. From the first time we met him to the very last page, he had a great development. I even love it when he starts falling in love with a lot of different things and maybe seeing something different in life for him. What I like about Aiden is that his drive for not only planning but in his work is so clear and obvious. Another thing is how he slowly starts to be more comfortable around certain things that he wasn’t entirely comfortable around. Aiden Hughes is definitely Chris Pine.
Emily McLane
Emily McLane is the whole being of the girl-next-door, and I love her business. Her love for the animals that she rescues, whether it’s for hurt wild animals or the dogs that she takes in that love is very much apparent. Emily is a fantastic character that has a lot going for her, and I love the confidence she gets after spending some time with Aiden. She has her own sort of life that she has planned but doesn’t mind changing it if she needs to. What I like about her is everything that I have already said and a lot more that I can’t say because you should read the book. Okay, so this was a bit tricky for me. I looked up both Kristen Bell and then Amanda Seyfried. I agree with Kelsey though Emily is definitely Amanda Seyfried.
Five Stars
Falling in Puppy Love by Sarah Fischer and Kelsey McKnight is another book that I seriously love from these two amazing authors. They did such a great job, and I can’t wait to read another book that they wrote together. It is worthy of being five stars, and I am recommending it to anyone that likes romance with a bit of comedy in there. Some parts had me laughing out loud.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This is a clean, touching contemporary romance about what happens when you come to the “fork in the road” in life and in love.
This is what investigative reporter Aiden Hughes encounters after being fired from a prestigious New York City newspaper. A paper that chose to boot him instead of supporting him when a story caused an uproar and was published without his permission.
Now he’s in the small town of Birdsong, where his aunt lives and where he has pleasant memories of his visits as a child. At the moment, he’s got a part time job in the local paper interviewing the local folks for a festival. When before he was all about “the job”, now that it’s been taken away, he’s unsure what his future will be.
But fate has a hand in his future when he meets Emily McLane. An enchanting young woman dedicated to rescuing dogs and finding them a forever home. With dreams of opening a large rescue and adoption center, she needs publicity. As Aiden helps her with her dream, he starts to wonder if his desire to get back in the “rat race” is the right road to take. Can love and a new perspective in life change his dreams, or will the lure of fame and the big city win in the end?
This was a thought provoking story about life and the choices we make. About where we end up when we come across that “fork in the road” and in life.
I was entrusted a copy of this book but Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Cutest story ever about a photojournalist, a dog rescue enthusiast, and, of course, dogs with personality.

I was given an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my review.
This is a sweet story with a lot of what a journalist goes through and a lot of what it takes to run a dog rescue.
Will Aiden and Emily find true love are will their love never get past the puppy love stage?
The end left me sighing, I loved the last sentence of this book, so whimsical.
Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and raw passion, strength, happiness with a happily ever after. Sensual feelings was a major turn on. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed.
