Abby, Jon, and Noah met when they were 10 and formed a life-long friendship. Their love carried them through good times and bad. At times, their bond was tested but they always knew that when the chips were down, they could count on the others to be there.
Noah would have been my choice from the beginning. He was kind, caring, patient, just all-around wonderful. While Jon was a nice enough guy, he always had to be the center of attention and everything was a competition. As the story unfolded, it became clear why he was that way but still… Noah was a better man, IMO. Abby deserved someone who thought about her wants and needs and loved her unconditionally. She found that with Noah.
A bitter sweet romance, this is the second book in the series and just as touching and deeply emotional as the first novel. Three friends, two boys and a girl, grow up together and have a special bond between them. Jon is the more vibrant and adventurous of the two boys and when they reach their teen years, Abby falls for him hard, little realising the pain she causes Noah when she rejects his confession of love for her. While the friendship remains strong, the trio split up and go in different directions, until Jon discovers that his has ALS and the dynamics of their relationship change once again. The story opens with the present day in the wake of Jon’s death and Noah’s divorce. Abby is reeling under the influence of new discoveries and she has a hard time dealing with the changes in her life and past loyalties. The story goes backwards and forwards from past to present, filling in the gaps and keeping the reader enlightened as to the complex nature of the relationship between the trio, which remains pure and sweet to the end. Noah has a huge heart and his compassionate kindness towards Jon and Abby is totally selfless, especially in light of the fact that his feelings for Abby have never diminished over the years. Abby too has a big heart and despite the fact that she knew Jon would never love her the way she loved him, she gave everything she had to make sure his last years were his most fulfilling. In some ways Jon seemed to be self-centred, but in fact his saw far more than anyone ever suspected and his love for Abby, Noah and the people in their circle, went beyond the grave. I loved every moment of this well written book and was sorry when it came to and end. I think it is going to be one of those stories that will linger in my heart and my mind for some time to come. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
Kathy Coatney has written another wonderful book.
I loved Gram. She is the kind of woman we all want our grandmas to be like. I also loved the raccoon!
This book deals with some heavy topics: death, ALS, alcoholism, failed marriages, dreams put aside, and more but it isn’t a dark, angsty story. It is ultimately a story of hope, inspiration, and love. Love of all kinds.
I don’t usually like books with a lot of flashbacks but they worked in this story. Each flashback was relevant and the lines between past and present were always clear.
There were a couple of minor loose ends but they will be addressed in future books in the series.
This is the second book in the Falling In Love Series. Both books are 5-star reads. If you enjoy well-written stories with developed characters that grab your attention from the beginning, look no further. I urge you to read this series.
A heart-warming tear-jerker. I loved how the story switched between past and present, from when the characters knew each other when they were young to the present and what kept them apart. Both stories are equally compelling.
Kathy has a way of writing a book that grabs you from the first page. This story about Jon, Abby and Noah is one of the best I have read. I fell in love with them as will you. I laughed, cried and anguished right along with them like they were part of my life. I read this book from cover to cover in one day because I just could not stop reading. Truly an amazing story. I can’t wait to read more of Kathy’s books.
The story was so true to life and had my attention from the start. I loved the way the story was written and how it kept me interested as I kept wondering what would happen next. The author has written a great book that I loved till the end. I couldn’t wait to see what happened from start to finish and kept on reading well into the night! Loved it!
