Fake it ‘til you make it has been the motto I live by since my mother died.
I’m also doing a really bad job at the making it part.
The night we met, I was at my lowest.
But you gave me a reason to feel happy again.
For the first time in over a year, I was optimistic.
You and I? We’re the same. Don’t form attachments.Follow the rules. Don’t dream of a future. Too bad our hearts wouldn’t listen. And … our hearts wouldn’t listen.
And this storm we’re going through? The one that threatens to rip us apart?
It doesn’t care that I’m falling for you.
Falling For You is a different kind of brother’s best friend romance. It’s fun, flirty, low on drama and as emotional as it is sizzling.

I LOVED Chloe and Rex’s book!! I was so excited to get each of their stories after meeting them…and to have them end up together…PERFECT!! The ultimate ladies man and the girl with the mysterious past! I love how everything came together-they are everything!!
Another amazing story from a fabulous author! Rex and Chloe were perfect for each other and I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Their connection and chemistry was off the charts and their story was so well written with tons of emotion. I fell in love with all the characters but especially Rex.
Jennifer Van Wyk always writes the best male leads; swoon worthy, sweet, caring, hot and just the perfect amount of alpha. She didn’t fail with Rex! I think he is my favorite so far of all her books. Rex gives you hope that maybe there are still great guys out there. Rex and Chloe’s story is sweet. I loved the slow burn of their relationship. I also loved catching up with Ethan and Olivia. I’m looking forward to Owen’s story.
Falling For You is the second book in the All For You series, and just like the first, I was immediately hooked from the very first page. Jennifer Van Wyk is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, with her incredible words, addicting storylines, and wonderfully developed characters.
I have been impatiently waiting for Rex & Chloe’s story since we saw glimpses of them in Gone For You, and I definitely wasn’t disappointed! I absolutely adored these characters, they were so genuine and relatable, and their chemistry was off the charts. Rex is the definition of swoony – gorgeous, charming & adorable. Chloe is fun, strong and sweet, and determined to support herself. Neither do relationships or feelings and navigating their emotions towards each other was such a great journey to read. It was perfectly paced, never rushed, and the best kind of slow burn.
This book was so refreshing, it was fun and sweet, and the drama was extremely minimal. Even better, the drama wasn’t even between Rex & Chloe so we get to see how they overcame obstacles together. From beginning to end these characters grew into better versions of themselves, and they did it hand in hand. The addition of Ethan & Olivia was perfect, giving glimpses into their lives and fitting them into Rex & Chloe’s story perfectly.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series and hope we get more Rex & Chloe with it!
I have read all of JVW’s books and love the way she does small town romance.
This book is no exception. It’s an interesting twist on “brother’s best friend” and it’s interesting to be in the know when the characters aren’t quite yet.
Chloe is the type of girl you want to hang out with! She’s gorgeous both inside and outside. She’s been through some stuff and is a bit closed off and guarded.
Rex is dreamy and broody. Computer geek by day, bartender by night. Best friend extraordinaire. But he’s also been through stuff and he is a “one night stand” kind of guy for life!
Sparks fly in the bar one night when he’s working, and he can’t get Chloe out of his mind (& vice versa). Their love story is sweet and you will be rooting so hard for it work!
The intermingling of these two, Ethan, Liv and Papa Paul is charming and endearing and I want to go to the family dinners.
I’m hoping there’s an Owen book coming soon as well!
Well done JVW! As always, I LOVE IT!
Rex & Chloe are absolute PERFECTION!
Fantastic chemistry right from the start. Amazing characters that I immediately fell in love with. Every word, every detail from the moment they meet until the final page is consuming. So well thought out and flawlessly written. Just emotional enough to have me on edge without frivolous drama to distract from their actual story. Perfectly timed surprises. and there are some doozies! Brilliant witty banter for both characters. This is one of my favorite things about dual point of view – getting inside their heads and hearing their internal dialogue is everything. Adds so much depth to the characters and their story. Delicious angst and build up. The perfect amount! Not easy to achieve. And of course the steam factor is JUST RIGHT! Everything about this book was just right – as in perfect! Love love love!
This is my first read by this author and I am completely fascinated and hooked. Every aspect of this book was so perfectly executed, I can’t help but feel like I’ve been missing out. I am definitely going to be checking out ALL her books. I love finding new authors to devour.
Falling For You is my first read from Jennifer Van Wyk and I am impressed! I have never heard of this author but when I saw the blurb I knew that this was something I wanted to read. I am so, so glad I took that chance! Falling For You is the second installment in the All For You Series but they are all a set of interconnected standalones, with that being said I have not read the first book, Gone For You, yet and I didn’t feel like the story was lacking at all, BUT I will be checking it out next! I laughed, I cried, and I totally swooned! Told from dual POV, Falling For You is a brothers best friend romance… with a bit of a twist.
This is Rex & Chloe’s story.
Chloe Garcia has been having a really, REALLY rough time lately. After her mother dumps a secret into Chloe’s lap right before she loses her battle with cancer, things just seem to go from bad to worse. After an extra horrible day, Chloe decides a night out with her girls is in order.
Reginald Matthews, A.K.A Rex is the well known hit-it-and-quit-it sexy bartender at the bar where he works with his best friend Ethan, The Flying Goat. Rex is a single guy who likes his life just the way it is and isn’t looking to settle down.
Then one night as he’s about to leave the bar… he catches a glimpse of Chloe crying her eyes out. Something that normally wouldn’t concern him so much, but there’s just something about Chloe that makes him want to know why she’s upset and to fix whatever it is.
Chloe’s totally confused when the hot bartender asks her to go into the backroom for a chat and even more confused when he asks her to meet him for dessert at the restaurant down the street but she goes and Rex makes her laugh for the first time in forever. There’s an instant connection between the two of them, and neither have any idea why.
“Until Chloe, I didn’t feel like I needed anything more. Now, though, I want and need it all. I might be able to trigger a physical reaction from her, but it’s the heart I want.”
After that night Rex can’t get Chloe off his mind, he’s more than willing to do just about anything to spend a little more time with her.
BUT, there are things that neither Rex nor Chloe are aware of… what happens when those secrets come to life?
“Now if I can just prove to her that any storm we encounter we can get through together, life will be good.”
Rex, OMG! He’s the sexy, nerdy guy who has heart of gold! Do they even still make real men like Rex anymore? He is the PERFECT book boyfriend, even with his perverted 15-year-old boy mind! Lol, he had me literally laughing out loud and swooning all at the same time! He’s the perfect combination of alpha and sweetheart that every girl dreams of! I think what made me really swoon was even though Rex has a bit of a reputation, he chooses to do things differently with Chloe.
“Fuck, Chloe. I don’t want to stop but hang on a second, okay?” This time he releases his grip on my ass and when he leans back, I let him. I want to keep attacking him. Change both our minds. But he’s being logical. Annoyingly, so. “Why?” I know my voice is whiney and don’t care. “You know why. I want this. You feel how much I want this. But I want this,” he points between us, “even more.” Well, damn.”
Chloe, god, she is the ultimate heroine for me! She’s strong and sassy while still being soft and innocent. She can take care of her damn self but loves having some else there to help out. She is the perfect counterpart for Rex for sure. I loved the moments when Rex would go all protective over Chloe but I liked that he also knew Chloe was no slouch and she could hold her own too.
These two together… they balance each other out so perfectly, and when they finally get physical… shew! The chemistry is off the charts from the very beginning. But it wasn’t JUST the steamy scenes, they had natural chemistry when they were together that even though they hadn’t been together long they just fit seamlessly into each others lives. I LOVED when they binged out together! Lol, I love a girl who’s not afraid to eat around a guy, and apparently, Rex agrees! Lol, seriously what’s a better “first date” then to take a girl to have dessert?!?! I’ll tell you, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
That ending *swoon* I could NOT have chosen a better ending for Chloe and Rex. Seriously, PERFECT!
“I’m not going anywhere. I want you to get it, because I think you’re missing the big picture. I want you, for a lot longer than a brief fling. I see the potential for forever here, don’t you?”
The only thing that kind of bothered me, though it didn’t ruin the story or anything I was just confused, the whole drama situation with Rex’s family? I kind of felt like that was just thrown in there as a side note, I thought way more was going to come out of the whole brother’s wife thing (although I’m SO glad it didn’t!) it just had me waiting on pins and needles for WHEN it was going to happen, and even though the groundwork was laid, it never came about?
Those that follow me know that I’m more of a dark romance reader, but I like to throw in a sweet romance every once in a while to lighten things up and that is just what we have in Falling For you. Again, Jennifer Van Wyk is a new-to-me author but I am loving this amazing writing! I can’t believe I’ve been missing out! The character development, the dialogue, no overload on angst, just a steamy, witty, and sweet romance with amazing main characters as well as secondary!
I absolutely recommend Falling For You!
“I love you, too. And I promise… I’ll never stop falling for you.”
I am in love with this series, I loved the first book in this series (Gone for You), but you don’t have to read it before this one. But you should! Falling for You was amazing! I fell head over heels for both Rex and Chloe. Jennifer Van Wyk is an amazing author – she sucked me into this book in the first chapter and I loved every second! FIVE STARS!!
Brothers Best Friend with a twist
Falling for You definitely had me falling it for it!!
Rex is a smart, funny, and sexy computer nerd.
He is also a bartender at his best friend Ethan’s bar, The Flying Goat! He is not one that seems to want to settle down, however one night, a chance meeting with a certain girl has him rethinking that.
Chloe is a smart and feisty hairdresser. She really has no family, other than a half brother she found out she has right before her mom passed alway. A brother that she does not know and it not sure if she wants to. One night when she was having a really bad few days, she meets Rex and man does that change things for her.
I absolutely Love this book and All of the characters. It had me laughing out loud, getting kind of emotional and staying up late, taking it all in. Not only did Rex have me laughing but he also had me swooning, a favorite book boyfriend for sure!! The chemistry between Rex and Chloe was so sexy and hot. I also love that there was not a lot of drama or angst between Rex and Chloe. Jennifer Van Wyk does a great job of keeping you guessing on what’s going on. I remember thinking once I was done reading that Jennifer totally nailed it with this book and these characters, not just in certain scenes but as a whole. I definitely have some favorite scenes that will stay with me as all time favorites!! I am so glad I read Falling for You, I will be reading it again and would highly recommend!! I am looking forward to more from this series and seeing this group of Characters!!
Falling For You is the second book in the All For You series but can be read as a standalone.
“Shaking his head, his hand caresses my upper arm. His eyes flit across my features, taking me in. The way he looks at me, as if he’s truly seeing me,”
The story felt very slow moving but picked up pace nearer the end. It is a sweet and emotional story, but has plenty of humor and fun banter. At times the humor was a bit too juvenile for me and felt more like I was reading about high schoolers and not adults, especially Rex.
I absolutely loved the way the story developed after the mid point and the last quarter of the book was definitely my favorite part of the whole story. It really redeemed the story and characters for me.
-4 Stars!-
Jenninfer Van Wyk has quickly become a one click author for me and each new book she writes becomes my new favorite! I couldn’t put Falling for You down! I immediately feel in love with Rex and Chloe. They are light and fun! Their chemistry instant and natural. I loved the progression of their relationship, but i really loved how their story was so much more than just them. The meaning of family was discovered and only strengthened their relationship. I couldn’t have been happier with their ending and hope we get more of them in the future!!
Jennifer Van Wyk does not disappoint in this small town romance!!
Boy sees girl, boy flirts with girl, boy and girl bond over dessert, boy falls for girl, girl falls boy….. and sometimes life works out the way you never intended but it’s absolutely perfect!! And that’s Rex and Chloe for me.
This book is simple, beautiful, small town romance at its finest!! Rex and Chloe’s story is one of my top reads this year. I love all types of romance but this book is just sweet and genuine and honest. It’s full of emotions, a few twists and just real. Rex and Chloe have complicated family pasts but they are drawn together!
This book flows well, there are great supporting characters, great chemistry of Rex and Chloe, a sense of love and support and loyal people who just love hard. I laughed, I cried and just felt whole when I finished this fantastic book by Jennifer Van Wyk!! I cannot wait to see what she gives us next!!
First I love this series. Chloe is feeling a lot of sadness from losing her mom. Rex sees her sadness and he wants to comfort her. Even though Rex does not do relationships there is something about Chloe that calls to him. Chloe has beautiful smile, quiet strength and determination. Rex is humble handsome and smart. Rex wants to take care of Chloe. Rex realizes he wants to be emotionally attached to her. Both of them have some family issues to resolve. Chloe has another family she is afraid to get close to them. Rex needs to move forward with his family issues even it means breaking ties with them. Chloe finally realizes her mom wanted her to open up to her new family. Chloe knows they are her family now. I loved Rex he was perfect book boyfriend. Chloe and Rex’s chemistry was off the charts. I totally recommend this series to any romance lover.
I love Jennifer’s writing style. She is so detailed and talented. I really loved Rex and Chloe’s story. It is very emotional with lots of laughs and a few tears. The characters are so real and totally relatable. This book has characters from the 1st book and Jennifer makes the series flow together seamlessly. I am excited to read the next installment of this series.
Gah! Why is this only the second book of this author that I have read? This book was another 5 star read for me as I loved both characters so much! We got a small taste of them in the first book, but it isn’t necessary to read them in order.
Rex and Chloe meet on night at the bar where Rex works. He notices her crying, and can’t seem to let it go. Rex is known around town as a one night stand kind of guy, so Chloe is hesitant to get involved with him. Will they finally come clean about their pasts and hopefully move on together?
There are some twists and turns in this book, and they were very well written. I cannot wait to read Owen’s story!
Falling for You is the second book in this author’s All for You series. I’ll be honest…book one, Gone for You, was not my most favorite of all her books. Don’t get me wrong, it was well-written, and the characters were very relatable. I just felt like there was something missing with the plot development. But that is MY opinion. You might feel differently, and I always encourage readers to give books a chance even when they are not MY favorites. Now, with all of that said, let’s talk Falling for You. Rex and Chloe’s story begins to be set up in Gone for You but this can absolutely be read as a standalone book. You will NOT miss anything if you start with this story.
Rex and Chloe live life by the same set of rules. Have fun…but no getting attached. Until they meet each other. Can they change each other’s rules or will life and circumstances break them apart for good?
Let’s just jump right in, shall we? I loved both Rex and Chloe. Both of them come from less than ideal pasts. Actually, Chloe’s wasn’t bad, but her mother’s death bed confession throws her for a major loop. But neither of them are so closed minded regarding a potential future that they can’t take a chance on love. The happily ever after type of love. And despite their past hookups or short-lived romances, theirs is a slow burn. And this is where I kind of love their story more so than Olivia and Ethan’s. In their book, I felt there were too many sexy scenes compared to the time spent developing their relationship. And while I’m a fan of sexy scenes, I prefer a bit more plot. Not saying it was a bad book (see my review of Gone for You for more details), but I definitely liked the plot development in this book so much more than in book one.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I’ve been trying and trying to put my finger on exactly why this book was the better of the two in this series so far. And I think it’s because this book seemed to be more like this author returning to her roots – her voice, so to speak. And that’s what made me fall in love with her writing style in the first place. So while I think it’s amazing that authors try to stretch beyond their norm and their comfort zones, apparently I’m more resistant to change in terms of my entertainment! But seriously, y’all, that’s 100% my problem. I give Falling for You by Jennifer Van Wyk 4.5 out of 5 stars!
Jennifer Wyk is truly a marvel. Her stories not only touch your heart, they get deep down in your soul. Chloe and Rex are the best of humanity in the most heartbreaking of times. My emotions were all over the place. Even my tears had tears. I didn’t know whether I was crying from laughter or from the heartache that this couple went through. Falling for You felt like an out of body experience. Wyk keeps getting better with each story she writes.
Jennifer Van Wyck has a way of writing that sucks the reader in and does not let go and with this book she has stepped up her game even more. I absolutely love Rex and Chloe. The sweet nerdy boy and the independent to a fault heroine make the perfect match. From the banter back and forth to the happiness they both find, this was a masterpiece. The supporting characters were fabulous and I cannot wait for Owen’s story!!
Jennifer Van Wyk is a “go to” author for me and I can’t help falling in love with her characters and the immense love and emotion poured into every book she writes!
Rex is a no-relationship kind of guy who wants no attachments and no feelings involved…that is, until he spots Chloe. Chloe suffers through an incredibly bad day and heads out to a local bar with friends to drown her sorrows, but after meeting Rex, her bad day definitely turns itself around. Family drama darkens both their pasts, in completely different ways, but strengthens their bond nevertheless. Falling for each other was inevitable with the connection they feel, and their relationship is sweet, sexy, sizzling, and swoon worthy.
Sometimes it’s the unexpected things or people that come into your life that are the greatest gifts, and Rex and Chloe receive a whole lot of unexpected happiness. I definitely cried happy tears!
A solid 4.5 stars for Rex & Chloe!
I have to say with every book that I’ve read by this author, I always crave more. It’s like I’m holding onto that last page with trembling fingertips at war with myself…flip the page, or don’t flip the page.
Part of me is desperate to see how the experience will end, and the other part of me doesn’t want the ride to be over yet. It’s a dilemma! Every. Time.
Rex and Chloe gave great small town romance and the author really surprised me with Rex. Of course, like many of you, I fell in love with him in Ethan & Olivia’s story (Gone For You), so I thought I “knew” him already. What kind of man he was, and therefore, what kind of book boyfriend he would pan out to be. He was not the cocky, love em’ and leave em’ sweet talking bartender with a headboard full of notches carved into it. He was more of the sweet, tender, and secretly sexy nerd next door type.
He was kind, considerate in nearly every way a man could possibly be, had a dose of alpha in there, and was a bit insecure. I never saw that last part coming!
What’s great about a JVW book, is that there is always a bit of a struggle or conflict woven into the plot, but it never feels heavy or overly dramatic. In this case, Rex is dealing with some issues that I’ve not witnessed before with book boyfriends. Chloe is also dealing with a tragedy in her life, and a bit of an identity crisis as she tries to adjust to that, and carve out a new place for herself in this town.
Ethan and Olivia are quite prevalent in this book, and their involvement in the lives of Rex and Chloe really added to some of the more touching and humorous moments that take place. It’s always a pleasure to visit with characters from earlier works, thus giving the reader a familiar and somewhat nostalgic foundation to expand on the love developing between Rex & Chloe. I loved how the girls interacted and the guys interacted with each other; very funny stuff! Ethan definitely gave Rex as good as he got.
Chloe was a wonderful heroine, and she grew so much as a person in this story. She really opened herself up to love across the board and ended up being happier than she ever thought she could be. The ending to this book was a real tear jerker. I loved it SO much! Rex out did himself and actually made me cry; Mr. Romantic for the win!
Overall, this was another fantastic read. Very well written, a natural pace, relatable and enjoyable characters, loads of heat and humor, just enough drama to keep you guessing, and an ending that will have you yearning for more. Can’t wait to see where Owen takes us!!
