She was just a job. Until she wasn’t.If one thing is drilled into any newbie private investigator, then it’s the need to maintain a firm line between business and pleasure.
I perfectly agree with this sensible rule, too.
At least I did until I met my first field assignment—the fiery and entirely too intriguing Ruby.
Sleuthing her was supposed to be only a job for me. One that would show my … job for me. One that would show my uncle (and boss) that I was a skilled detective who didn’t have to stay at some dusty desk in our office.
Yet, the more time I spend with Ruby, the more trouble I have remembering where that essential line lies.
And why crossing it would be such a bad idea…
Falling for the Undercover Agent is a clean and wholesome fake identity romance. If you love flawed but loveable characters and swoony kisses, then you’ll adore this fifth book in the Gems of Love series. Each story is a standalone, with the perks of meeting recurring characters throughout the books.

I read this series in order (though you don’t have to) so I kinda had an idea that Giordano’s love story would be with his assignment. I loved the added angst that the other books in this series didn’t have. A suspenseful, romantic, and entertaining read.
I knew Giordano’s story had to have slightly more angst than the rest of this series, after all, the guy is a private detective (a newbie one which adds funny moments to the plot.) Ruby is his assignment but becomes soon much more than that. It’s probably a sweet romance and romantic suspense mash-up and a great one at that.
I enjoyed the newbie detective aspect a lot. The couple is darned sweet together. And the touche of suspense? It makes for a very enjoyable read.
Giordano is working for his uncle tailing Ruby. What starts out as a lie – PI’s lie – turns into attraction. A romantic suspense that has both characters keep things from one another. There was angst and IMO the step dad (though trying to help) does not give the best advice. Loved the grand gesture.
I enjoy reading, and look forward to, Agnes Canestri’s books.
I love the thread of family closeness and their love and support for one another in her books.
In The Undercover Agent she was again spot-on – Ruby, together with her ex sleaze-ball boyfriend, Richie, were under investigation by Giordano, the undercover agent. When Gio met Ruby for the first time, she stirred something within him, even though he fought it as he didn’t want to compromise the case. The more time Giordano spent in her company to get to know her better in order to get more information, the stronger the attraction grew, and the more emotionally involved he got, the more his judgment was impaired.
Another great read from Agnes with characters that comes alive through her amazing skills as a storyteller.
Order the book and read the story for yourself.
Falling for the Undercover Agent is a sweet and clean romance with several twists and a touch of suspense. This is a great series and I highly suggest the rest just because they’re great. This can be read as a stand alone though.
I received an ARC and have chosen to give my honest opinion.
This was a clean, suspenseful romance with no foul language or graphic intimate details.
I thought this book was ok. The story was fine but I had a hard time connecting with the emotions of the characters. It felt a little flat. I read about 60% of the book and then took a step away before righting my review because I don’t like writing a negative review. I didn’t think it was bad, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to.
Gio is a private detective who works for his uncle. The client is a wealthy man whose son has stolen a lot of money from him. The son is also the former boyfriend of Ruby. Ruby owns a tattoo parlor and completely oblivious to the evil ways of the former boyfriend. Gio determines that by getting close to Ruby, he can find the son and the money for his client. The problem is that Gio develops feelings for Ruby and wants to believe that she is the real deal and not someone who is faking. Will Gio and Ruby get their happy ever after and will the son be found and have to pay for his crimes? You will have to read to find out.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
In my opinion, this book is different from Agnes Canestri’s previous books because of the added angst. I loved it! This is the story of Giana’s twin brother, Giordano, and Ruby. Gio is assigned the case of seeing if Ruby is involved in the stealing of money from her former boyfriend’s, Richie’s, father. Mr. Donaldson believes if they watch Ruby, it will lead to them finding his money. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say I’m glad Agnes branched out with her suspense factor.
