This is the first book I have read by the author and it is a sweet romance to read especially while relaxing on a beach. Mallory has broken up with her boyfriend and as her classes have just ended for the summer, she decides to take her best friend up on her offer to spend the next few months in the picturesque beauty of Hawaii. Evan is the local bad boy with a reputation that precedes him but all is not as it seems. When Mallory sees Evan at the airport, she is taken aback by his good looks and physique along with the way he is saying goodbye to another woman. Not one to put herself in another romantic situation that could leave her heart broken, Mallory is inclined to decline Evan’s advances. However, what will she do when the heart overrules the head and will she succumb to Evan’s pull? This is one storyline that has the reader wanting to plan his/her own trip to paradise and maybe take a few risks. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see where the journey between these two goes.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and all opinions are my own and then went on to purchase the book.
Hot, sexy, Maserati driving, surf instructor and Hawaii make for fantastic romance!!
Mallory is headed to Hawaii for the summer. She’s escaping from a bad relationship and spending it working & living with her bestie, Sunny. When she lands she sees a hottie sending his squeeze off. A hottie who’s checking her out too. And so we meet Evan. Evan who ends up as Mallory’s first night in Hawaii one night stand. What starts as casual quickly evolves into more. Evan is drawn to her and vice versa. He’s a Maserati driving, surf instructor living in his rich family’s guest house. His sister loves her. His mom? Not so much. They burn hot for each other. But what’s going to happen at the end of summer? I can’t wait to see where their romance goes. She and Evan are passionate and a wee bit combustible, both in bed and out. Will this summer romance be more? I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review
4 Stars
As with all of SL Scott’s books, the story flows and the writing is phenomenal. Endearing characters that you can’t help but fall in love with, even when you want nothing more than to strangle them lol. I loved Mallory and her feistiness, but I did want shake her and tell her to wake up a time or two. And Evan, he’s one of those characters that I love so much. He’s the quintessential playboy who swears off love forever and when the right girl comes along and knocks him for a loop, he struggles with the feelings that overpower him. I loved this one and can’t wait to read what happens next.
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
I love that this book takes place in a lovely paradise as Hawaii. Nursing a broken heart Mallory decides that spending time is paradise is what’s in order. She didn’t expect to meet notorious playboy, Evan while leaving the airport. Evan admits he’s a playboy. He’d rather be upfront and honest than leaving a trail of broken hearts behind him. But something about Mallory makes him want to be better. This book is steamy and I need more of these two in my life.
A Sweet Summer romance that makes you wish you were in paradise yourself. Falling for the Playboy is the first book in Mallory and Evans story.
Mallory Wray has taken up an offer from her best friend Sunny to spend a beautiful summer in paradise. After a bad break up Mallory needs to get away and this is the perfect opportunity.
Evan Ashford is playboy with a reputation that follows. His life is easy and carefree but there are secrets that he doesn’t what to share and most people don’t know who the real Evan Ashford is.
I can sense that there is more to come. S.L. Scott does sweet HEA’s so well but I feel there is trouble brewing and we will get a better feel for Evan and Mallory’s story in the following books.
OMG! I fell for this book! I loved Evan and Mallory, and can’t wait to read more of their story. I fell in Love with Evan about 50% in. I was in tears off and on thru the rest of the book! I also fell in love with their friends. Wow! This book was romantic and angsty!

Falling for the Playboy
Playboy in Paradise, Book 1
By: S.L. Scott
Narrated by: Wen Ross, Kai Kennicott
This book captivated me from start to end. S.L. Scott is a gift author, she creates stories that are not only interesting but ones you can relate to, whether realistically or ones you dreamed of having. (escapism at its best) Her characters are complex and well developed, I liked the two leads in this book. Mallory, a smart and independent woman who is focused on finishing her last year of college. She has two months off from school so she decided to spend that time with her friend Sunny in Hawaii. I loved her sass and spirit and when she meets Evan at the airport she is not shy to share that sass with him. Mallory could see Evan was a real player but there was something about him that drew her to him. One thing leads to another and she winds up doing something she never does, has a one night stand with a player. It was such a great night she thought it may mean more, unfortunately Evan did not feel the same or so she thought. The chemistry between them could not be denied. I loved how they went back and forth, how they danced around what they were feeling, he was in complete denial and she was just pissed at his behavior. There is never a dull moment in this book, there is plenty of drama, angst, a hiccup or two and a smoking hot buildup to a wonderful romance. This is the first book in a three book series and their relationship is finally off to a good start, as they both realize their love. I am looking forward to what comes next for these two. Also curious about a few other things, want to know more about Noah and what the deal is with him and Evan. S.L Scott thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They bring these characters to life, give each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. They humanize and portray these characters perfectly, capturing their passion and emotions which reflects in their performance. They set the perfect tone for the story and their duet performance enhances it to another level of greatness. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen
Thank you @AudiobookObsession AudiobookObsessionReviewer
Love love loved this book. Great story, loved the humor and characters. Best book of the summer.
S.L. Scott always delivers and this one is no different. I was completely engrossed into Evan and Mallory’s story. I could literally not get enough and am thrilled that the wait for the next was only a couple days. I have to know how their story will play out.
Mallory is going to Hawaii on vacation to visit her best friend. The last thing she is looking for is a relationship but it always happens when you least expect it. Evan was the last person she’d expect anything from. He is a playboy and is honest about it. What was supposed to be a one-night stand turns into so much more. Their summer romance isn’t all sunshine and rainbows but boy is it a romance that will have you hooked.
I would highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for more from S.L. Scott and her characters Evan and Mallory!!!
Evan Ashford has a reputation to be a ladies man in Hawaii and when he meets a beautiful woman stepping off the plane he has found his next conquest. Yet she is different than anyone woman he has ever bveen with before but Evan stays far away from relationships.
Mallory Wray has come to Hawaii to stay with her best friend Sunny and escape her life and ex-boyfriend. She is ready for a carefree summer where she can relax and enjoy herself. What she doesn’t expect is to meet Evan who gives her a ride to Sunny’s place which turns into a very memorable night yet in the morning he isn’t there.
As Evan and Mallory try to pick up the pieces from their one night stand things begin to get more complicated when the two are reluctantly drawn to each other and they can’t stay away no matter how hard each of them tries. Yet Evan isn’t ready for a relationship and is Mallory ready to risk her hear getting broken again?
This was such a good book and part of me wishes it was over at the end of this one as it ended just how I wanted!!
From the moment Mallory steps off the plane the chemistry between her and Evan is sizzling and their chemistry is through the roof. The two challenge each other yet at the same time they both manage to hurt each other through the book with their actions and words.
Evan is a complete ladies man an could have any woman he wanted yet he can not stop thinking about Mallory. He is in uncharted territory and there was definitely so much more to him than you originally suspect. I really liked getting to know him in greater detail as the book went on but I know there are also big gaps which should be revealed in the next book. I liked learning about the tension Evan has with his parents and I have a feeling that will definitely come into play in the next books with how he decides to live his life.
Mallory needed a chance for some freedom from school and her ex but she finds herself in even more drama when she meets Evan. After when Mallory meets Nohea (Noah) Kalei you could sense that he wanted her but she was trying to figure out what she wanted and I can tell that story line is not over, especially with why Noah is no longer friends with Evan.
The chemistry between Mallory and Evan was definitely hot and intense!! The two shared something very special if they could figure out their feelings towards one another in time.
I loved all of the friendships in the book and how Sunny, Zach, Kate and Murphy all got involved to help figure everything out as they could see how Mallory and Evan felt about each other.
Towards the end of the book there was definitely some foreshadowing with Evan’s mom and what she expected so it will be interesting to see what happens in the next books. I was super happy with how this one ended but now I am definitely worried about what’s to come!!
This book is the PERFECT read for this SUMMER!
Five piñas coladas!
Aloha! Can you smell the sweet and tempting scent of summer? Because Falling for the Playboy just tastes like that; sweet summer romance packed with all the feels to make this a PERFECT escape to paradise. I’m still drunk after reading this book. It is refreshing, sweet and delicious as piñas coladas. S.L. Scott penned an enticing read for the beach that makes you feel the hot breeze of Hawaii; it makes you feel like you are in heaven surrounded by green palms, the smell of the ocean and tropical rain. And the cherry on the top is an arrogant playboy that is swoon-worthy with his smile of bad boy!
Evan and Mallory’s relationship is complicated and very explosive. He is the kind of bad boy who never claimed to be a knight in shining armour. He is cheeky, possessive and selfish. He takes everything and gives nothing just pleasure. Relationships are not his thing. However his arrogance and confidence is sort of attractive. On the other side is Mallory, the strong and sassy girl different from the others. Kind of frustrating but unique. She is sunshine. She is the light to Evan’s darkness. She is the only girl who sees the real Evan. She bares his soul to the most primal way.
The chemistry between those two is volatil, tumultuous and very hot. They are opposite and imperfectly perfect together. They don’t know how to navigate a successful relationship because they don’t have enough experience in the relationship thing and it’s nice to see how they learn together. Their banter is witty and quite frustrating. Odds are against them and I can’t wait to follow their story in the next books in the series because this is going to be epic.
This book is about the good girl falling for the bad boy. This book is about learning and discovering love in the most beautiful and tempting way. This book is about finding paradise. It just has the right amount of drama. The pacing is fast and the plot is an original piece of heaven.
S.L. Scott has a way to keep me glued to my e-reader from the very first page to the last and always wanting more and more. Her characters are complex, intense and natural. I am a huge fan of her flawless writing and beautiful romances. Each of her books is a enthralling adventure that always take me to cloud number nine and Falling for the Playboy isn’t the exception.
I loved this book, and enjoyed immensely the rollercoaster of Mallory and Evan’s romance.
This is a relentless read that will keep you intrigued all the way until the very end.
Evan and Mallory have electrifying chemistry and there is so much depth to the both of them,I wanted to know everything and like a greedy gremlin,I ate up every word of every chapter hungrily.
Falling For The Playboy had a piece of everything you could ask for in a romance novel Laughter, suspense,Steam and secrets that keep you on your toes,I hung on every word,it was brilliant.
I cannot wait for book two.
This is a perfect Summer read, relaxing with a cold drink and snack.
I highly recommend it.
This was a great story. I felt like I was visiting Hawaii with Mallory. It’s very angsts as life is when your in your early twenties. Evan has a lot of layers to him but Mallory brings out the best in him. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I just know trouble is brewing for Mallory and Evan.
Susy know how to write stories that I love. This one was fun and good and I like it more and more with each chapter. Mallory goes to Hawaii where he meets Evan a rich jerk that is not into relationships. They meet, they get together and now they are finding themselves something neither of them expected. The steam, the angst, the emotional rollercoaster. You will not put this book down.
At the beginning the relationship between Mallory and Evan felt strange yet explosive, with Evan being very mysterious. One can feel the damaged soul without further knowledge.
Mallory struggles with her own feelings and hurt…
Ms. Scott has a very unique way to keep the tension on an all-time high and to portray emotions in a way that draws in the reader and never let them go til the end.
The agony and pain and conflicted feelings in both protagonists are as palpable as the joy and love though some of their trains of thought are not always comprehensible.
The back and forth of their relationship and the connected emotional rollercoaster ride kept me on my toes and drove me crazy while reading…
I loved this book and NEED to read more about this couple!
An angsty summer romance read. A book that takes me to a wonderful summer vacation and got me trapped inside with all the drama.
A captivating story that hooked me from the start. I thought this one is going to be an easy read with hot playboy in it, but I’m so glad I was wrong, it does have super sexy playboy in it, THE Playboy that makes me want to kiss and slap him at the same time, but it has so much depth, the love, the frustrations, the drama, the secrets, and the characters are so strong and so intense that makes everything soooo good.
If you’re looking for a summer romance read packed with drama, this is the perfect book for you.
SL Scott gives us an updated and rewritten series, I hadn’t read the original series but I adored Falling for the Playboy. Mallory and Evan were a fun, lighter than normal characters. Miss Scott has an uncanny ability to give us these damaged men who seem like these tough guys with a side of douche but they end up having this sweeter side to them than none of us stand a chance against Evan!
Just like I’ve come to expect from SL Scott, her books are always well written. The characters are fun and light but they still have a deepness to them that makes them dimensional. I’m really excited to read the rest of this series and find out where Miss Scott is going to take Evan and Mallory.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
***I received an ebook copy from the author at no cost***
Mallory and Evan are two of my favorite characters S.L. Scott has given us and Falling for the Playboy is the perfect story to devour during these hot summer months.
Mallory is in Hawaii for the summer, kicking it with one of her closest friends. She meets Evan, a sexy surfer, shortly after arriving and thus begins this sexy summer story.
This book has so many fun things. Surfer guys who are tanned, toned, and sexy. Nights on the beach, gorgeous sunsets, and I could pretty much feel all the Hawaiian vibes as I was reading. The characters are fun, including secondary ones, who play just as important a role in the plot as the main two do. I loved the chemistry between Mallory and Evan. It was there from the moment the two laid eyes on one another and it only got more and more intense as the story went on.
Falling for the Playboy is the first book in a series, and I for one can’t wait to see more of Mallory and Evan and get to know their entire story. I love how Scott pretty much picked me up and deposited me right into her amazing Hawaiian world. Her writing is phenomenal, leaving me feeling like I was living inside the book with the characters. I love how she crafts sassy and fun heroines and gives them the perfect hot hero to enjoy. Everything about this story is fun, from the friendships to the sexy vibes to the way things happen on the island.
If you’re looking for a fun and flirty beach read, then you should definitely grab this book. I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out so I can get my Mallory and Evan fix in because, as always, S.L. Scott has got me addicted to her words.
Five stars to this novel!
In 2013, I came across S.L. Scott, a new-to-me author, and her Welcome to Paradise series and then I proceeded to devour Mallory and Evan’s story, not only because the story is set in Hawaii, which is one amazing backdrop for a summer romance, but also because I thoroughly enjoyed the evolution of their relationship and the fact that what should have been nothing but a sexy and sweaty one-night stand turned into something they both desperately wanted, even if they lived thousands of miles apart and their respective pasts made them hesitant to go all in with their true feelings towards each other.
Mallory and Evan’s story holds a special place in my heart; it’s what led me to be a huge fan of S.L. Scott’s storytelling and it also was one of the first series I read once I found my way back to reading after being away from the book world for quite some time.
So, while I was a little sad that Scott was changing the series’ covers and titles, I knew I would get to revisit Mallory and Evan’s story, remembering all the reasons I loved the ups and downs and twists and turns these two went through as they worked to make a go at a relationship despite their differences, outside interference, and the emotional baggage that they both seem to carry with them.
And with Redeeming the Playboy and Loving the Playboy releasing in quick succession, the fact that I don’t have to wait to continue my stroll down memory lane makes it that much better!
4 Poison Apples
“I feel his love and this feels good, satisfying. His body tells me everything I ever need to hear, everything he can’t say … or isn’t ready to say.”
Welcome to paradise ladies. Falling for the Playboy was just the sweet summer romance I needed. Set in the tropics of Hawaii this story was all hot sun, hot boys, and even hotter romance. This is my second time reading Evan and Mallory’s story and I love it as much this time as I did the first time. Something about these characters just draw you in. S.L. Scott has a way of keeping you hooked from the first page to the very last. This story was a emotional ride that had me ready for every up, down, and curve it threw my way. I loved how involved the secondary characters are. The author has this way of making you love all her characters mot just the main ones. I am secretly hoping for Sunny and Eric, and Kate and Murphy to get their own books! I’ve lived getting glimpses into their lives. The chemistry between Evan and Mallory is as HOT as the Hawiian sun. I love that their story was messy, complicated and imperfect. I am definitely rooting for them to make it. Love is so much better when the vharacters have to work for it.
“Images of her fill my thoughts— images of being on that couch with her, and holding her. I was once in heaven. Now I’m in hell.”
Mallory took me awhile to warm up too. Don’t get me wrong I liked her character but she had her moments that made me want to shake some sense into her. Mallory’s character was naive, headstrong, and carefree. I liked she wasn’t affraid to stand up for herself. She knew what she deserved and didnt settle for less. However I did feel her character tended to over analyze things. She has a bad habbit of thinking to much. I would have liked more growth from her character. She didn’t seem to have as much development as Evan. With all that aside I did really enjoy her character. I would be lying if I said Mallory didn’t grow on me by the end of the book.
“The tall, wild-locked boy with sun-lightened brown hair could easily be mistaken for an earthbound Hawaiian God.”
Evan rode right in and surfed away with my heart. Sure he could be a jerk but he also knew how to make a girl SWOON! I loved Evan wasn’t your normal hero character. He was vulnerable, insecure, and cocky. So many times I found myself hanging on his every word. While other times I wanted to slap him for being so stupid. His character definitely kept you on your toes and you never knew what dimension of Evan you was going to get next. I really liked how much his character evolved from start to finish. He definitely came into himself throughout the book.
“The kiss is heated from the moment our lips touch, on fire by the time our tongues meet, and burning when I wrap my arms around his neck giving him everything he wants —everything I want.”
*4 STARS*
Well earned for the swoon worthy summer romance my heart needed. If you’re looking for a fast paced, sizzling romance with all the feels I recommend reading this book.
