A sweet romance and so much more. The main characters have struggles that color their present but together their future looks bright. Really enjoyed seeing their characters grow and the romance between them grow. Her daughter is so sweet and loved her interaction with the hero.
Falling for the Innkeeper from Meghann Whistler is a well-written clean romance based on Christian principles. It is the journey of 2 people from their bad memories of their past to a future together. The struggle brings them closer to their purpose for life and each other. It takes place in a beautiful setting and the book has great characters that you got to know well. A nice book to choose.
This book was very good and fun. I can’t wait to read another book by this author!
When you first meet Jonathan Masters, you really aren’t sure if you should love how dedicated he is towards his job or be mad because he is trying to buy out Laura’s beloved Inn. Then you realize that Laura doesn’t have a clue that her mother is the reason that he is there to buy the Inn in the first place so you give him a break and wonder why her mother would do such a thing. Meghann does such a good job weaving these characters together and relaying their story that before you know it, you are on the next to last page and wishing the book was just a little longer. If you like books with characters who seem genuine and real, then you’ll love this book.
Falling for the Innkeeper was such a wonderful book it was a page turner I couldn’t put it down If you haven’t read you should you wont be disappointed!
I loved Falling for the Innkeeper very much! If you enjoy Inspirational Romance books. You will definitely enjoy this one! Great book!!!!
What a delightful romance with a reminder of where our treasure is located!
I was drawn into the story by the personalities of single mom, Laura, her daughter, Emma, and high powered attorney, Jonathan. The fictional town of Wychmere Bay, provides a charming virtual visit to Cape Cod. I want to have afternoon tea and spend the night at The Sea Glass Inn, the lodge Laura’s grandmother owned.
Clashes happen when workaholic Jonathan arrives to seal a lucrative deal for his law firm by buying the inn for a prestigious hotel group. However, down to earth Laura derails his plans….in many ways.
I felt the childhood hurts Jonathan and Laura suffered, caused by different reasons, but affecting adult lives and decisions. Their romance evolved as they learned to share true emotions, opening their hearts to understanding and forgiveness. The small town setting was brought to life with just the right details of a quaint coastal town. And sweet Tiny, with her love of ice cream, made me want to visit The Sundae School!
Author Meghann Whistler has written a delightful and uplifting debut book filled with emotion and touches of faith. The gentle reminder of listening to God’s nudges concerning where our treasures are found is well done by the author.

*I won a copy of this book with no requirement to write a review. I’m pleased to offer my honest opinion.
Laura Lessoway is just trying to keep moving forward in the wake of a divorce from her workaholic husband. She and her young daughter Emma have been living at the Sea Glass Inn, a place once owned by her grandmother and left partially to her. Her mother’s trying to sell it, but Laura isn’t going to let her grandmother’s legacy go without a fight.
Johnathan Masters is a lawyer working on behalf of Carberry Hotels and is hoping to snag a prime piece of ocean front property. He’s not keen on playing hardball with a single mom, but he’s already arranged to stay a few days and is hoping he’ll seal the deal and go back to his office a winner.
Both are dealing with the scars of their pasts and learning to overcome their own fears for the future. While there’s an old saying that sea air cures all, it’ll take more than a stroll on the beaches of Cape Cod to bring this pair together.
Personally, I generally haven’t read much Christian romance, but I really enjoyed how Whistler made it a theme in her book without it being the focus. Laura’s faith just added to her character and it was nice to see how each of her decisions was given multiple layers of thought. Still, if you don’t enjoy religion as an ongoing theme, this book might not be for you, but general romance readers will probably see it as I did–a Hallmark-ish novel set in a charming location.
Laura and Johnathan have a great back and forth. They really seemed matched when it came to wits, and gave as good as they got. Honestly, if I didn’t know it was Whistler’s debut novel, I would have thought she was a seasoned author! The scenery was clear and the inner thoughts of the main characters were clear as a bell.
I’d recommend this book to all romance readers who enjoy a sweet read with a little faith and a whole lot of laughs.
I really enjoyed reading Falling For The Innkeeper and getting to know Jonathan and Laura! This was definitely one of those books that had you laughing, crying and falling in love with all the characters. It was very inspirational with it saying of “God doesn’t love us because we’re so awesome and amazing. He loves us just because we are who we are” and “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Wow, what a breath of fresh air reading Falling for the Innkeeper. We are introduced to Laura and Jonathan who could be the neighbor next door. The issues they deal with are issues we all deal with. Having been to Cape Cod brought back sweet memories.
Jonathan, a lawyer who has given up his personal life to move up the ladder in his field who treats others with respect. Laura, a single mom lives at her grandmother’s inn. After her grandmother dies, Laura’s mother wants to sell the inn. Jonathan makes a visit to the inn to try and talk Laura into selling the inn, but she does not want to. Falling in love for Laura is not in the picture.
If your looking for a good summer romance story, this is it.

This is the first book from Meghann Whistler. It will not be my last. I love the Love Inspired Series. I know that I am getting a heartwarming story that will warm my heart, make me smile and leave me feeling happy. This book grabbed my attention within the first chapter. I had a hard time putting it down.
Meghann has created real feeling characters. I was a single mom with my 2 older girls. I remember feeling how Laura was. While I did not own my own business, I did worry if I was always making the right decisions for my children.
Laura is a divorced mom – her ex husband was a work a holic – and she is now trying to navigate on her own. She has a lot of healing to do. She is trying hard to keep her grandma’s hotel. I love how it is seaside. I could close my eyes and imagine that I was there. However, Jonathan shows up. He is a big shot lawyer. He really tries to convince Laura to sell the inn. To him, it is just a business deal. He wants to continue to climb up the corporate ladder. What he does not count on is sparks flying between the two. (Which I loved!)
This book took my heart on so many twists and turns – but it was a wonderful ending. I am super excited to see more from this author. She has written amazing characters, a beautiful setting, and has crafted a flowing storyline. The cover is beautifully done.

They each want very different things…or do they?
Falling For The Innkeeper was one of those rare occasions when I pick a book based simply on its cover. I was captivated by the beachscape in the background and I quickly fell in love with the Cape Cod setting as soon as I started reading.
I’ll admit that I was a bit surprised when I figured out that this was author Meghann Whistler’s debut novel. The quality of her writing is definitely that of an author with a couple of books under their belt.
Falling For The Innkeeper is a sweet Love Inspired romance. It has a charming setting, great characters, especially the adorable Yankee Doodle singing Emma, and a storyline that manages to be both convicting and entertaining. Meghann Whistler skillfully gets her readers thinking introspectively while delivering a sweetly romantic escape from a world seemingly gone crazy. And, hey, since it’s set on Cape Cod it would make the perfect beach read this summer…
(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Falling for the Innkeeper was such a good story! Laura and Jonathan felt like real people making their way through life, carrying burdens from their childhood that colored the way they viewed themselves and others.
Right from the beginning, the reader understands that Jonathan is a focused lawyer, who has given up any type of personal life in order to attain status in his field. However, I loved that his true personality peeked out almost instantly in the way he treated Laura’s little girl, Emma. There was a lot more to Jonathan than his job.
I liked the way he and Laura began to relate to each other. Even though they lived different lives, they had a natural chemistry that was hard to ignore. There was a lot to overcome in this novel for both of these characters, and their journey was a joy to read about.
(4.5 stars)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Even if you’re young, you can become so hyper focused on something that you lose sight of what is really important. When it comes to love, where you live or what you do shouldn’t matter as much as (or more than) who you are with. Laura and Jonathan are great people who have admirable goals; however, those goals might not be God’s goals for their lives.
I love how these two mature throughout the book. No, they’re not really immature in their actions but in their faith. Laura definitely has been walking closer to God than Jonathan has over the years, but she’s got stuff she’s holding on to. Stuff she’s not willing to part with. And it’s not all material stuff either.
The interaction among the characters in Falling for the Innkeeper are fun to follow. The setting is quaint and cozy, and the message behind the story is one that many of us tend to forget! Keep your focus on God’s goals for your life, and things will fall into place. Even when we can’t see a way, He does. Trust Him with your path!
I definitely think readers who enjoy inspirational love stories will be fans of Falling for the Innkeeper!
Meghann Whistler is new to the inspirational fiction scene; I predict she will rise fairly quickly to the ranks of must-read author. Excellent writing skills with the ability to set the scene; develop lovable characters, and an uncanny ability to connect with readers.
Falling for the Innkeeper, a Love-Inspired; Inspirational Romance, is set on beautiful Cape Cod. When Jonathan Masters shows up at the family inn seeking to arrange the purchase of the property, Laura Lessoway runs the attorney away. Recently inheriting the family inn where she grew up, she has no intentions of allowing her mother forcing her into selling her beloved home.
Nor does Laura, a single mom of an adorable, precocious daughter, have any intent to allow thenJonathan Masters handsome face and pleasant personality to make her heart go pitter-patter; except, her heart betrays her and fairly races away when he is near. It doesn’t help that her young daughter is completely besotted over the attractive attorney.
Falling for the Innkeeper is an excellent read and I highly recommend it.

A sweet story of learning to trust
I’m a sucker for a second chances type story, especially one that has a child in it. And this is Meghann Whistler’s debut novel so I knew I had to read it!
First of all I want to mention that I had forgotten Falling for the Innkeeper is a debut novel while I was reading. And it wasn’t until I started preparing this post I remembered this.
I completely empathized with Laura and her fear of Jonathan, who reminded her of her ex-husband, at least by his profession and appearance. Yet Jonathan was surprising and didn’t fit the category Laura had placed him in. At all. Which he set out to prove in some very fun ways.
From his kind and even playful interactions with Laura’s adorable daughter, Emma, to his surprising skills at fixing things and capturing rats (eeeewwwww!), Jonathan slowly but surely began to work his way into Laura’s heart.
Emma was absolutely adorable!! She was everything a four-year-old girl should be. Sparkly, quirky, unafraid to speak her mind. She was generous with her hugs and her heart and assumed everyone was her friend and worthy of kindness. Oh, I wish I had just a fraction of her energy!!
Laura struggled with seeing herself as worthy of being loved. Jonathan struggled with the sense that he could earn what he wanted. As Laura held on to her faith and served the Lord, Jonathan had walked away from the faith he learned as a child. His return to faith was insinuated – which is typical for this publisher.
While it would have been easy for the author to fall into the trap of giving easy answers and wiping away all the problems perfectly as they rode off into the sunset at the end, she didn’t. The resolution required compromise and while the conclusion was satisfactory, it did not end with everything perfect – making it more realistic and in my opinion, more enjoyable.
This sweet romance was just the right length and moved at just the right pace. Falling for the Innkeeper showed the story well without information dumps or too much “telling” for the most part, however, the epilogue did try to sew up the details in a small amount of book’s real estate and felt a little much like an info dump at the start.
If you enjoy sweet romance, be sure to read Falling for the Innkeeper.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
I love a Love Inspired Romance once in a while. They are short and sweet, and a really enjoyable read! So I was happy to be able to review Meghan Whistler’s debut novel, Falling for the Inn Keeper. Set in Cape Cod at the lovely and charming Cape Cod Inn, with uniquely flavored characters that adds some interesting twists to the story, I loved following Laura and Jonathan’s story, along with their supporting characters. Laura and Jonathan were about as different as anyone could be, Jonathan was in Cape Cod for business only. And Laura certainly didn’t have time for a guy in her life. But the attraction between them was hard not to see, and it was so much fun to read about.
Since this is a Romance, it’s pretty predictable what will happen, but it’s so much fun and enjoyment reading about what happens. One reviewer mentioned it’s like a Hallmark movie, and it is, you know who will fall in love, but you want to see how the characters get there. If you enjoy sweet Romance stories, I highly recommend Falling for the Inn Keeper! I just know you will enjoy it. And this is one of those books for the person who doesn’t have the time for a full novel!! Its a win win all the way!
A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with
For Laura Lessoway growing up largely away from her parents, her grandmother’s inn has always been the place that she called home and hopes to share that with her young daughter. But upon her grandmother’s death Laura finds her mother trying to sell her refuge to a company that wants to build a seaside resort. Laura is a fantastic mother and wants to give her daughter a safe and stable place to grow up, along with the things that she never had herself. I admired her faith, and loved that she has supportive friends. Emma, her daughter is just so cute! I adored her relationship with Jonathan.
A heartwarming enemies to friends romance, both Jonathan and Laura have a lot on their minds, and their individual pasts play a large part in who they have become. Jonathan is a a man with a roadmap to life all plotted out, always chasing the next step to success, he is very driven, I loved how Laura takes him by surprise and makes him take a deeper look at his life.
This is a heartwarming read, Jonathan and Laura are characters to cheer for throughout. I enjoyed the beautiful setting, and how well they worked together as their friendship grew. There’s a lot to love about this book, with strong themes of faith and family, great character growth and interaction, as well as an absolutely adorable little girl. You won’t want to miss it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Laura owns The Sea Glass Inn on Cape Cod along with her mom. If the two don’t run the inn for a summer then the inn’s ownership goes to her grandma’s church according to the terms in her will. Her mom has been in contact with an attorney in Boston. Jonathan comes to the inn to try to win over the owners. While he is there, he relaxes a bit and sparks start to fly between him and Laura. Then add in a cute little girl named Emma and Jonathan is rethinking his life. Each of the main characters has past issues that they must deal with in order to allow themselves to trust the other. Can they overcome it? I loved this book. It was so so good. I loved that it was based in Cape Cod. I loved reading about the small town. I know you will enjoy this book about a small charming inn!
I loved this book. It was a fast read that kept me interested. I did not want to put it down. Laura has inherited the inn that she considers her only real home with her mother from her grandmother. The only requirement is that they have to live in it and work the inn together to keep it. Otherwise, it goes to the local church. Can Laura save the inn?
When a businessman shows up that reminds her too much of her ex-husband about selling the inn she begins to unravel. It’s only made worse as she starts to fall for him. He, on the other hand, starts out just wanting the deal so he can go back to work and get his promotion. But as time goes on he begins to fall for Laura. And wouldn’t you know he starts to wonder if he should go back to his corporate life or not?
They both have some big decisions to make and the story is amazing. You’re going to love this one. I fell for the characters and they are wonderfully developed.
