From New York Times and USA Today bestselling romance author Jean Oram…
One sexy, burned out billionaire. One spitfire graduate. One small island.
Connor MacKenzie has it all—complete with the penthouse and massive corporation. At least that’s what everyone believes. But underneath it all, his life is disintegrating faster than a stock market crash.
When Connor’s doctor forces him to take … crash.
When Connor’s doctor forces him to take it easy and go deep into the Canadian Muskokas for some much needed R&R he lands on an old cottage veranda which lacks the luxuries he’s accustomed to. Maya Summer, a recent business grad, has been waiting for opportunity to come a knockin’ and not only has it arrived on her doorstep, but it’s presented itself in a very sexy package. However, despite Maya’s best advances and proposals, Connor’s strict new “no-work diet” has them both starving for much more than than just business.
Can Maya convince Connor to let her be his new right-hand business gal while gaining enough income to save her family’s cottage? And will Connor, the workaholic, be able to resist her charms, both in and out of the boardroom?

Life is Like an Opera
This is book two of a series and the story itself stands alone quite nicely. However, if one had already enjoyed book one, some of the background issues, such as the potential loss to back taxes of the family island with its century-plus old cottage, are much more fully fleshed. In the first tale we met the eldest sister, a photographer; this sister has an honors business degree and is looking to get into the investment world. I enjoyed learning about the critical importance of networking and research as deceptions were discovered and the island worked its magic. Narrator Vanessa Moyen brings each of the characters to life with her excellent phrasing and vocalizations.
A heartwarming, funny and intriguing storyline. The characters were unique, strong, and well developed. It is continuation of a series so some characters make a cameo continuing their stories, but it definitely can be read as a standalone. This thoughtful and heartfelt story had me glued page after page feeling every emotion and laughing along. Maya is trying to save the family cottage and find a job using the degree she graduated at the top of her class. She decides to rent out the cotttage to a millionaire in need of rest. Conner the King of Toronto is renting cottage to savalvage the mess he has made of his life where his health and keeping his assistant is at risk if he doesn’t get much needed rest. The two have a strong connection and desire for the other in more than just a sexual way that this amazing story is built on. This romantic story had laughter, angst, challenges and twists along the way, while Connor learns to relax and Maya learns how to connect with people. A must read I look forward to more with Maya the other two sisters.
