He can’t trust the people who should have his back…Pressured by his boss to connect with his new team, the last thing Kaeden O’Shea needs is a woman in the way–one who clearly has something to hide. But his instincts have him on high alert and he can’t shake the idea that he needs to ride to her rescue.Running, hiding, and planting misleading clues means Joy Wilson doesn’t dare let anyone get … doesn’t dare let anyone get close. Not even the man who tempts her at every turn…because there’s too much at stake. Too much she has to protect.
Two missions collide, and all bets are off.
Steamy romance meets heart-stopping suspense in the Sutton Billionaires Series. This is the sixth book in the series but it can be read as a standalone story with no cliffhangers. If you’d rather start at book one, grab The Billionaire Deal by Lori Ryan. This book was previously released as part of the Sutton Capital Series under the name According to Plan.

A well-written that story is full of mystery, fun, and romance. Kaeden OShea and Joy Wilson are loners by choice. Their pasts have filled them with mistrust and feel they can only rely on themselves. When the past catches up with Joy, she must decide to go alone or trust Kaeden. The story is full of wonderful characters that truly show Kaeden what he has been missing. I loved the story and recommend it.
Lori Ryan has a talent for writing stories that amazing flow that will suck you in and are impossible to put down. Kaeden is up for a promotion at work but he has to prove himself as a leader. It’s a huge challenge for someone that prefers doing everything himself. He takes his coworkers and their families on a retreat where he meets Joy, the woman he is corresponding with for the weekly plans. Joy is having her own trouble, but before she can bail and leave town she finds herself inexplicably attached to Kaeden. I love this couple’s chemistry. There was never a dull moment, I finished in one sitting. Another recommendation from me for this one!
The sixth book in the series brings Kaeden and Joy’s story. The author once again brings strong characters with a powerful attraction and takes them on an adventurous journey filled with drama and danger, secrets and suspense as well as all the twists and turns along the way. She brings their story to life with her descriptive and detailed scenes. I loved reading their story and would highly recommend this book/series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
It’s a fast paced with intrigue, drama, tension and characters you can’t resist rooting for. Just what I needed for a leisurely day read.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it. I have become a fan of Lori Ryan. I started reading this series and fell in love with the characters. This book along with the rest of the series is well written and the characters are wonderful. This was a quick an easy read and to be honest I read it twice. I will encourage you to get this book and to read the others in this series they are worth your time. Go check this one out!!!
Loved it!
The comrades in arms no matter what these guys have each other. To have this kind of friendship is rare in real life and these stories make you feel good.
Kadean has such a hurt in his past that the only way he thinks to protect himself is to never let anyone get close.
Jane knows how dangerous it is to let the wrong person into your life so like Kadean she will not let people into her circle.
These two characters were definitely well developed so the reader could image their actions and emotions while reading the book.
Kaeden tends to micro-manage everything he doesn’t do himself. Now his boss hands him the planning of the company retreat and team-building. On the line is the promotion he wants and Jack needs to see him delegate to the team the hotel put together. Nothing had been planned except the first night dinner and now Kaeden is in charge of planning the rest. He has an on site liaison and two Hospitality interns to handle things but control is something Kaeden seems to need more than anything. What could possibly go wrong?
Joy is his liaison with the hotel and she gets a kick out of his micromanaging. Kaeden doesn’t handle any twists or changes well and a few things start to go awry. Fortunately for him the interns and Joy has things under control. In spite of her adding some twists to his scheduled events Joy manages to get under his skin.
As things heat up between Kaeden and Joy, he also realizes she has a secret, one that bothers her.
Gaining her trust enough to let him help her is not easy. When it finally happens things are about to get seriously dangerous for both Joy and her mother.
It’s as Kaeden gets Samantha involved he realizes that Jack, Logan and Chad really do have his back. Something he never let himself see before.
This book is full of laughter, fun, suspense, romance and sizzle with just a bit of action to spice things up.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Kaeden O’Shay may be part of Sutton Capital, but he hasn’t quite managed the whole working as a team thing, even with so many former military coworkers and their brotherly camaraderie. Kaeden’s brothers in the Marines failed to watch his six when he needed them most, destroying any ability he had to trust others. Jack Sutton, ingenious boss that he is, dangles a coveted promotion in front of Kaeden if Kaeden can coordinate the company’s upcoming retreat activities through delegation and not micromanagement.
Everything with the retreat is going according to Kaeden’s plan until Joy Wilson, his resort contact, starts making suggestions. It’s anything but love at first sight as Kaeden and Joy clash frequently, but something in each resonates with the other – the way they engage but without personal involvement, both holding themselves back from other people. It’s not long before Kaeden is convinced Joy is hiding something big, and it brings out all of his protective instincts.
This was a quick, easy read for me, which in no way diminishes its impact. I quickly fell for both of these characters, complete with flaws and baggage that only make them more appealing. I love all of the Sutton guys, and seeing them support Kaeden and him realizing these guys would always be there for him was amazing. Then seeing them all jump in to help Joy reminded me again of why I love this series so much!
This story, with its wit, steam, suspense and direct hits to the heart kept me glued to every page from the very first paragraph and all the way through to the stunning conclusion. If you like the military backdrop and a healthy dose of suspense in your romance, you’ll love Kaeden and Joy’s story!
I look forward to each new book in the Sutton Billionaires series. Lori Ryan has created a wonderful set of characters that she weaves into love stories that will move you. There’s always an element of suspense and danger to keep things interesting. It makes for satisfying reading.
Kaeden O’Shea is a man who holds himself apart, doesn’t get involved, is friendly (kind of) but doesn’t make friends. He tried that once and got burned. Now Jack Sutton has put him on the spot. A huge promotion is in his future but he has to prove he’s a team player and a good team leader. Joy Wilson doesn’t really have a lot of happiness in her life. She’s a woman with a big secret that keeps her on the move. Kaeden and Joy team up to ramrod the Sutton Capitol retreat. They both slowly and cautiously let down their walls but trust doesn’t come easily. Understanding and acceptance finally happens when the Sutton team rallies behind Joy and Kaeden to prevent a tragedy.
I enjoyed Kaeden & Joy’s story. The corporate retreat setting was fun, and the Sutton group employees were great!
This book was form titled “According to Plan”. I honestly didn’t see the difference between this one and the original unless I missed something.
I enjoy the Sutton Capital series, and this book is a great addition. The pace was fast, and the story grabbed my attention from the very beginning and held it to the
last page. I really wasn’t expecting the turn the book took when I first started reading it.
Kaeden and Joy had the same issue with not getting close to people. They were able to easily recognize the trait in one another. Joy held a secret that was dangerous to both herself and her mother.
I thought Kaeden and Joy had really good chemistry. Although it seemed like instalove, it felt differently because they seemed to have to break down some emotional walls before they felt comfortable with one another.
I also liked that the Sutton Capital family can always be counted on to step up to the plate for one another. This story was suspenseful, intense, romantic, and sexy.
Once Joy’s controlling step-father makes his appearance in the book, it feels like we move at break neck speed to a final resolution and the inevitable HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
