For psychology researcher Hazel Kiegen, science is everything. Her decision to swear off dating? Totally backed by her own calculations. Just don’t ask about her missing orgasms. She hasn’t been able to science her way out of that little conundrum. But her biggest problem? Corban Nash. He’s frustrating. Infuriating. And deliciously adorable, but that’s neither here nor there. He claims to have … claims to have cracked the code to falling in love, and Hazel is determined to prove him wrong.
Corban Nash created the theory of accelerated intimacy after numerous successful tests on his friends and family. Every couple who used his questionnaire fell in love, until Corban found himself the last single guy in his social circle, and a groomsman in dozens of weddings.
The only problem is, it’s never worked on him. And science hasn’t explained why.
Despite being the lone aberrant data point, Corban believes in his research, and with his new job, he’ll have the resources to prove it. Verifying his theory right under the nose of his nemesis, Hazel Kiegen? Even better.
There isn’t a theory in existence that will make Hazel fall in love with Corban. Not even with his sexy half-smile and temptingly muscular body. But from the moment these two rivals meet, sparks fly. And when they put his questionnaire to the test, the results aren’t what either of them expect.
>Author’s note: Stand-alone romcom featuring a hot nerdy hero in hate-lust with his sworn enemy. A heroine with book smarts and a fluffy cat named Erwin. So much awkwardness and geeky banter. Super hot hate sex. Badass lady friendships with a widening circle of trust. And an HEA that will leave you swooning with happiness and your heart exploding with glitter.

I met Hazel in Faking Ms Right and Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters. She’s part of the Dirty Martini running club. Nerdy but super sweet, it’s Hazel’s turn to meet Mr. Right. Unless it’s her nemesis and then it’s Mr. Oh HELL NO!!!
Corban is convinced he’s cracked the code to falling in love with his relationship questionnaire it just won’t work for him. Hazel is convinced he doesn’t have the real research to back it up. The sparks fly between these two enemies especially after Corban gets hired on in the same research department.
Even if you haven’t read the other Dirty Martini books, you can absolutely read this book. It’s a stand alone but it is more fun if you know who some of the other characters are.
For Claire Kingsley fans there are some fun cameos Ana Easter eggs that made me squeeeee loudly in excitement.
The chemistry with Hazel and Corban is HOT and they may just be my new favorite couple. Super steamy, super sweet, and it will have you laughing and crying. Read it.
Woah! The chemistry in this book is instant and so intense it will melt your kindle. This enemies to lovers RomCom is full of quirky fun and two characters that are absolutely perfect for one another.
Corban and Hazel are enemies online before they ever officially meet, but when Corban starts a new job – working at the same school as Hazel things heat up. Chemistry like theirs can’t be ignored no matter how hard you try.
Their journey through denial, acceptance and love is highly entertaining making for an absolute must read for 2020.
There isn’t a Claire Kingsley book that I don’t adore. Don’t miss this one! Sometimes enemies-to-lovers isn’t my jam because the stakes seem either too petty to way too high. This story hits the right notes and I love how awkward the leads are with their attraction and flirting! It’s the best. Plus, her cat Erwin? Oh my goodness. This story had me smiling from ear to ear.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Claire Kingsley has done it again. When I first came across Claire’s work, I literally devoured every book I could find of hers. I jump with glee when I hear she has a new book in the works, and it was no different when I found out about this one. I literally screamed for joy when I found my ARC copy on my Kindle.
Love According to Science is a standalone romantic comedy set in the Dirty Martini Running Club world, and could technically be seen as the second book in the series, with Everly and Shephard being the first. I have a deep appreciation for all things Everly and Shep, but Hazel and Corban… WOW! They knocked it out of the park!
I love everything about this book. It’s enemies to lovers and it is fantastic! The dynamic between the characters is spot on, and you can’t help but fall for them and their quirky ways. Both of them are nerds, forced to work together, and there are instant sparks. I love how Claire put them together, knowing how much they despised the other. It was fun, quirky, laugh out loud fun that had me seriously so sad when it came to an end.
Corban is seriously my newest ring leader of those dubbed book boyfriend material. He is a nerd, but oh man, can the boy dirty talk. And his alpha personality under all that nerd had me weak in the knees. Seriously, you’ll fall hard for him!
Of course, I watched a movie after I finished my ARC read and it was quite funny because we watched the newest Ghostbusters – with Chris Hemsworth as the receptionist. GUYS, I literally paused the movie and said to my husband – ITS CORBAN! He of course looked at me like I had lost my ever-loving mind, but I can’t unsee it and every time I think about this book, Chris Hemsworth is Corban. It’s a done deal. No questions asked. So when you read it, put that version of Chris in the book… I promise, it’s seriously YES!
Five beautiful stars for this fun romantic comedy that will have you laughing, crying, smiling and wanting more when it’s all said and done.
He wants to find his penguin and she’s given up on love.
Corbin, is a little weird and nerdy, but he is passionate about his work. He has created an algorithm that help people fall in love.
Hazel, is passionate about her work, in studying human interactions.
When Corbin, presents his findings on the internet, she goes on the attack, believing that he doesn’t have enough data to support his work.
When he shows up where she works, looking for a job, she can’t believe that they would hire someone with no credibility, according to her.
Then they are forced to work together.
This is a hate-lust relationship, where both of them have commitment issues.
As they develop a friendship and take his test, Corbin realizes that he has found his penguin.
Claire Kingsley, has done an amazing job with these two highly intelligent, nerdy characters who are very passionate about what they believe and who come to learn that they aren’t as broken as they think they are.
This is my first Claire Kingsley and My first book in the Dirty Martini Running Club. This is book two ( I hear there are a prequel and book one I will definitely be going to find). I hate to say If I had known this was a book two…I would not have taken it on, In this case, I am glad I didn’t know and did read this book. It stands alone just fine, though I admit I did wonder about Everly and Shepherd.
This book is about Hazel, Everly’s friend and one of 4 friends that run together once a week and meet up for dirty martinis. Hazel is a research scientist, very nerdy, and has a cute, fluffy cat. I quickly loved her and I don’t form tight bonds with female leads usually.
Corban is the hottest nerd ever, He is geeky, Socially awkward, but very masculine and take charge, not a wimpy guy.
The storyline is funny, interesting as we are getting two backstories, a look into their work, Hazel and her friends, Corban and his family, and some pretty silly pranks ( at first I wasn’t sure how I felt about adults acting this childish, but it did work ) and…I want a penguin. There is lots of hot sex, silly antics, crazy animal facts, and female comradery that I just loved. I cannot wait to read more of these characters and wonder who is next?
Love According to Science is the second book in the Dirty Martini Running Club series. You could certainly read it as a stand-alone but book one (Faking Ms. Right) is crazy good, and the characters are recurring so I would suggest reading in order. Ok? Ok.
Now, THIS BOOK! Ahhhhhhh! I love me some nerds!
Corban and Hazel hate each other, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t ridiculously attracted to each other. When they’re forced together by a work project, they start realizing that the hate and lust aren’t the only things that they’re feeling. I just loved these two! They are both so unique in their quirky behavior but for the most part, they OWN it and I adored that about them. Hazel has tons of conversations with her cat. Corban blurts out random animal facts when he’s nervous. They are just lovable characters and I couldn’t get enough of their clumsy interactions. The sexual chemistry between the two is OFF THE CHARTS HOT and when they finally get together, it’s explosive!
This book is filled with laughs, witty banter, completely awkward moments, a fluffy (aka fat) cat, baked goods, untucked shirts, dirty thoughts and talk, bedazzled bitches, penguins, sweet and swoony moments, best friends, cameos from other CK characters, lots of drinks and a marathon. Oh, and rocks that make me cry. Don’t worry, it’ll all make sense. This is going down as one of my favorite Claire Kingsley books and I highly recommend it!
“Love was really awesome, and I didn’t even need science to tell me that.”
She’s gone and done it again! Claire Kingsley is an automatic one–click for me and has been for a few years now. Her writing always delivers humor, heat, and heart. While at surface, this book is a sweet and sexy rom-com between two brilliant prodigies. Psychology and Math – where do they meet? In Hazel and Corbin. The inner monologues here are brilliant and hilarious.
What isn’t as obvious at first, are the depth of emotion these two characters have about being different, awkward and smarter than everyone else in the room. Corbin offers obscure facts about animals; Hazel just looks at people around her like they’re aliens. Neither feel like they’ll ever find their “penguin” because they’re “weird”. But redemption happens, and 2 separate peas find their pod with each other.
I am in love. This book is guaranteed to be one of the best books of the year. The characters are fun and unique, the story is engaging, and it brings all the feels. I seriously couldn’t love it more. Prepare to be completely sucked in, because this is a book you will not want to put down!
From the second Corban and Hazel meet, the chemistry is explosive. Even when they thought they were enemies, the sparks couldn’t be denied. I loved that both of these characters were unique and a bit quirky. They are so smart and made me laugh, but they also broke my heart a little…especially Corban. His backstory made me cheer him on and long for his HEA. If anyone deserves to live happily ever after, it is definitely these two. And their HEA was everything I hoped for and more. Seeing them together was not only incredibly hot, but also so heartwarming.
Claire brings such a fun and engaging style to these books. It is definitely some of her best work yet! I absolutely adored Faking Ms. Right (which you don’t need to read to enjoy this one, but you do need to read), and I loved seeing those characters pop back in with this story. All of the Dirty Martini Running Club characters have that something extra that really makes you feel like they are your best friends. This is a world I can definitely get lost in. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
I’ve been waiting for this book to release! I love a good enemies to lovers story and this fits the bill. Before I start with my review, lean in here so I can ask you a question. Remember that guy from high school, you know, the stratospherically intellectual guy who didn’t quite fit in? Who was adorable but didn’t know it? Maybe he was your tutor. Maybe friends with your annoying brother, or maybe he sat next to you in all your classes, because you’re stratospherically smart too! You know, the one you secretly had a crush on, carried a torch for or dreamed about asking to prom? Well, ladies, Corbin is THAT GUY! I love this story because Hazel and Corbin are both absolutely adorable people, on their own, but put them together and BOOM! It’s like a science lab explosion. They have no choice but to work with each other and learn about each other along the way. This is a great story of love, friendship and everything in between! !
Claire Kingsley has taken enemies to lovers to a whole new level!
Love According to Science is full of passion, sexual tension and hilarious moments that will leave you wanting to be a part of the girl gang 😉 Book two in the Dirty Martini Running Club series is Hazel and Corban’s story, and what a story it is!
Corban and Hazel are both brilliant, successful and two totally different characters from the norm. They are both awkward, very passionate and still trying to find love with the right person. The banter between them is fierce, fun and frustrating, the sexual tension is OFF THE CHARTS HOT (Dirty Corban is gonna melt your panties right off)! Throw some good friends and family into the mix, this story has everything you’re going to want in a fabulous book!
I adore a hot nerd! Corban and Hazel were ABSOLUTELY adorable and CRAZY HOT together! Loved this story so much!
“Every time I was near her, reasonableness went right out the window, replaced by that potent mix of hate-lust I couldn’t seem to shake.”
They were enemies long before they ever met face to face. Hazel Kiegen is a psychologist, who sees herself as a true scientist. She’s believes that Corban Nash, the guy who claims to have cracked the code to falling in love, is an imposter – a charlatan – and she’s not afraid to challenge him at every turn. She’s dismayed when she finds out that he’s about to become her work colleague. She’s even more dismayed by her unexpected attraction to him.
“I stood frozen. Transfixed by the predatory gleam in Corban’s eyes. By the conflict I could see raging through him.”
Corban Nash is an awkward data genius treading the soft scientific waters of psychology. He’s determined to prove himself and his theories. When he’s partnered up with his nemesis, he’s unhappy to realise that he’s immensely attracted to her. Even though they hate each other, there’s no denying the irresistible lust between them.
“Why was everything I felt around her so strong? She didn’t just make me mad, she made me furious. I wasn’t just attracted to her, I was obsessed with her.”
Hazel and Corban were EVERYTHING! They were positively on fire! The best thing about this story is how the reader can clearly see how suited they were for each other, how well they understood each other – like no one else in their lives. Their chemistry was absolutely scorching. I loved how Hazel brought out Corban’s alpha, animalistic instincts. Their connection was amazing – I loved how Hazel just knew him so well and noticed the little things about him. There were times when they seemed like a long-time married couple, when they were really just still trying to figure out where they stood with each other. This was a fabulous, fun, hot read. LOVED it!!
Claire Kingsley delivers the goods again! I dare you to not fall in love with Corbin and Hazel’s story. It has everything you could want/need in an enemies to lovers romcom: snark, chemistry, and heart felt moments. When you add in the fantastic secondary characters and the cameos from some of my favorite characters from previous C.K. books you get book gold. This was a truly fantastic read that I couldn’t put down.
I never knew you could literally have sex with someone and not even touch them….this is the relationship between Hazel and Corban. What starts out as a rivalry between two strong willed individuals turns directly into hate lust as coworkers. The next turns into friends with benefits and then booty call dinners. But what happens when true feelings come into play? Can a questionnaire really allow them to see each other in a different light? Or are the destined to always be just all about the orgasms? Although I found some of the intellectual baggage a little extreme I still found the story to be entertaining.
Hot nerd alert! Corban is unlike any other Claire Kinglsey hero. He’s a of a bumbling, awkward introvert, super brilliant but super low on the self-esteem. He’s crafted a brilliant questionnaire about the science of love, but seems to be the one test subject it won’t work on.
But Corban really meets his match in Hazel. This enemies-to-lovers romcom is everything. Snarky comments fly between two people that are so alike and perfect for each other, but insanely stubborn about it. The copy room sex…. I think I needed a co-down after that!
Little by little, these two catch feelings for each other, but admitting those feelings kind of blows up spectacularly. It all leads to an adorable reconciliation when Corban goes all out to put his heart on the line.
And as a long-time CK reader, I loved all the cameos/references to some of her previous books! Ivy works at the same college as Corban and Hazel; Corban plays basketball with “the dads” from the Book Boyfriend series and Everly and Shepherd’s wedding is at the Miles family’s vineyard. Two of my favorite moments were Weston’s mic-drop “Marry Her” and Corban calling Shep “Satan”!!! Brilliant!
She’s his penguin!! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Oh my word!!! This book is on my top reads of the year list and we’re still in January. Corban and Hazel are so perfect together. There’s so many things that are right with this book. It’s enemies to lovers, which is one of my favorite tropes. It has unwanted attraction and hate sex. The enemies to lovers aspect creates a hero that is a grumpy, hot nerd that is also a dirty talker. It’s like he was made just for me. Hazel is a nerdy girl, but she’s still very sociable with her friends. Plus, you get glimpses of so many other characters from this author’s books. I managed to still love a paisley print. The female camaraderie is great. A lot of books have bromances, which I love, but this was definitely nice. I can’t wait for the audio to release so I can listen also.
There is a reason why Claire Kingsley will always be one of my favorite authors. She writes fantastic stories with characters that you can’t help but love. Love According to Science is a well written enemies-to-lovers romance story filled with sizzling chemistry, hilarious banter, misunderstandings, lust, heartfelt moments, and so much more.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
Love According to Science is the second book in the Dirty Martini Running Club, but still a standalone. I was so happy to hear that we were getting Hazel’s book. I loved her in Faking Ms. Right and I loved her even more in this one! Hazel has recently started a new job as a psychology researcher at a university. To her surprise, her archnemeis, Corban, gets a job there too. While they’ve never met in real life, she has trolled him and his intimacy theory online. It’s an enemies to lovers but with nerdy references! The way they sparred with so many scientific jabs was weird yet hilarious! They were both so awkward, but their chemistry was insane. Throw in some amazing lady friendships, and a sugary sweet epilogue, this was a definite winner! Now, I desperately need Nora’s book!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I absolutely love when there is some good ol animosity between the two. Add to that a killer group of friends and some long established rivalry and we have one heck of a book. Go Hazel!
Hot, sweet, nerdy and lovely. Hazel and Coban are perfect for each other but they don’t know it. They begin as enemies and this makes for a most wonderful story. Quirky and delicious.
