For psychology researcher Hazel Kiegen, science is everything. Her decision to swear off dating? Totally backed by her own calculations. Just don’t ask about her missing orgasms. She hasn’t been able to science her way out of that little conundrum. But her biggest problem? Corban Nash. He’s frustrating. Infuriating. And deliciously adorable, but that’s neither here nor there. He claims to have … claims to have cracked the code to falling in love, and Hazel is determined to prove him wrong.
Corban Nash created the theory of accelerated intimacy after numerous successful tests on his friends and family. Every couple who used his questionnaire fell in love, until Corban found himself the last single guy in his social circle, and a groomsman in dozens of weddings.
The only problem is, it’s never worked on him. And science hasn’t explained why.
Despite being the lone aberrant data point, Corban believes in his research, and with his new job, he’ll have the resources to prove it. Verifying his theory right under the nose of his nemesis, Hazel Kiegen? Even better.
There isn’t a theory in existence that will make Hazel fall in love with Corban. Not even with his sexy half-smile and temptingly muscular body. But from the moment these two rivals meet, sparks fly. And when they put his questionnaire to the test, the results aren’t what either of them expect.
>Author’s note: Stand-alone romcom featuring a hot nerdy hero in hate-lust with his sworn enemy. A heroine with book smarts and a fluffy cat named Erwin. So much awkwardness and geeky banter. Super hot hate sex. Badass lady friendships with a widening circle of trust. And an HEA that will leave you swooning with happiness and your heart exploding with glitter.

I LOVED this book – the second installment in the Dirty Martini Running Club series.
I truly appreciated that even though both Hazel and Corban were both super-intelligent “nerdy” types, they were not portrayed in the stereotypical “nerd” fashion (well, except for Corban’s inability to completely tuck in a shirt). Hazel was presented as a beautiful woman, unashamed of her sexuality, and on a mission to debunk what she felt was flawed logic in Corban’s match-making algorithm. Corban was hyper-aware of his social awkwardness and attempted to compensate for that by keeping himself physically fit (rock climbing!) – He also had a wonderful relationship with his sister and their test messages were off-the-charts adorable!
When Corban and Hazel butt heads over his theories of love, their chemistry is combustible! *Fans self thinking of the copy room scene*
I love that they both have a circle of friends/family that act as sounding boards and support systems for each of them. I also hate Paisley, the high-school best friend of Corban’s sister – you’ll see why.
If you enjoy reading about a smart woman with the sexy-librarian vibe, a hunky genius who feels unlovable but desperately wants to find “the one”, and penguins then you will love this book.I
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I really enjoyed getting into the quirky head of Hazel. Although, she over analyzes everything and tries to make unpredictable situations fit into neat boxes, she is a lovable and endearing character. Corban is a guy you want to cheer for. The story line is somewhat predictable, but it has enough angst and steamy times to keep your attention. I was bummed to see the epilogue & bonus epilogue so far in the future. I hope that doesn’t mean that amount of time has passed when we catch up with Nora and hopefully Sophia’s stories.
I slowly but surely getting up to speed with Ms. Kingsley’s books. I love me a good rom/com, add enemies-to-lovers with a side of sexy nerds (both h/h), well you have an interested reader.
The hate is real between these two scientists (Hazel and Corban) and when they have to work together, well the shenanigans are a plenty with plenty of pranks, but the chemistry is full on.
When asked to work together, things get even more interesting and what turns out as hate turns into love.
Sexy times a plenty and Corban is a dirty birdie, but Hazel does not hold back.
If you’re looking for a smartly written rom/com Love According to Science should be on your must reads.
I just loved this book from the first page, it is easy to read and the story just consumes you.
This is a love story between “nerds” and you can feel their struggle to find it, or to believe they found it. “Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye” H.Jackson Brown, Jr. Their hearts know what they feel about eachoter before they realize it themselves.
Hazel also has her relationship with her group of girlfriends, the dirty martini running club, that gives us the girl power troughout the book, it’s not because she’s a nerd, she can’t be fabulous!!!! They look out for one another and protect eachoter likes lionesses.
And Corban has his twin sister, she’s having a baby and you get to know his soft side here. You just melt for this handsome nerdy guy who doesn’t believe anyone is capable of loving him.
I give this book a 5 star rating and would give more if possible, if you love romance with a good background story this is your book to read!!
What a fun, hilarious and unique story! I loved Hazel and Corban! The two of them started out as enemies but soon the chemistry between them was just too much to ignore. Thinking that just one time together would be enough was their first mistake. Their second one was being so stubborn that neither one could see how amazing the other person was. However, slowly, they began to open up their hearts and started to realize that even the best scientists need to trust their instincts once in awhile.
This book really did have me laughing out loud at moments and ready to grab Hazel and Corban and shake some sense into them. I LOVED all of the characters I got to meet and really hope that Hazel’s single friends get to have their stories told.
A must read book for sure!

Love According To Science
By: Claire Kingsley
*REVIEW*
Being a socially awkward nerd is hard. I’ve been one my entire life, so Love According To Science is the perfect book for me. Hazel and Corbin are awesome and adorable together. I loved their chemistry and heat. It was perfection! This story is fun and cute and charming and anything else you could want. I recommend for readers of romcoms, chicklit or contemporary romance. There is something here for everyone to enjoy. Corbin will become your new book boyfriend! Being a nerd never looked so good!
This is book #2, in the Dirty Martini Running Club series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader understanding, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this sexy series in order.
Hazel finds out not long after taking a new position at a new location, that her nemesis is speaking there as well. Now she is second guessing her choice to change employers. Then she gets to know the man she thinks of as her enemy. Or does she?
Corban has an equal hate for Hazel. Now he has a face and body to put to the name. If only he wasn’t outrageously attracted to the enemy. He wants to kiss her right? Or does he want to make her mad? He cannot decide. Is is possible to want both?
I am going to be completely honest here. I usually hate the trope of enemies to lovers. I really have not been a fan. This particular story was much anticipated, so I am not sure if that played a part. All I know is I could not put this book down, and lost sleep to enjoy it. I devoured the pages eagerly and literally ate up every word. Already a fan, I am now bumping this author up to a definite 1-click for me.
Hazel Kiegen loves things that can be proven by research or numbers. One thing she can’t stand is a charlatan claiming he has “cracked the code for love”. Just because he’s hot, smart, adorable, intelligent, sexy…WAIT! She can’t like him, but she can’t stop thinking about him.
Corban Nash loves numbers. He loves science. He may have “cracked the code for love”, his long list of marriages from the people that have taken is questionnaire prove it. But it doesn’t work on him. Corban needs more research. He starts working at the College that Hazel works. She is his nemesis. She argues against his work. She is a pain in his ass. But why can’t he stop thinking about her?
Well you know what they say about love/hate. It is two sides of the same coin. The sparks fly whenever they are around each other! Oh, do they ever!
Oh how I love a HOT, sexy nerd! Corban isn’t just your average nerd. Nope, he is a rock-climbing, number crunching, dirty talking, baby loving NERD! WOW! Claire sure knows how to write a sexy nerd! I just can’t get enough of Claire’s stories. I love how she weaves in characters from her other books. Their stories may be over, but I love hearing about where they are in their lives! Ohh I can’t wait for Nora, Sophie, and Jensen (maybe?) books!
This was another fabulous, quirky and funny story by Claire. It was full of lots of heated passion, funny banter and sexy nerdiness. Corbin just stole my heart. He was the sexiest nerd with his cute awkwardness. But damn when he let the beast out there was nothing holding him back. Dirty Corbin will make you melt. Just the right amount of fun, sexy and laughter in this rom-com.
Hazel and Corbin are super smart and can’t stand each other. Hazel gets a new job and then comes to find out her nemesis is being hired. That’s when the pranks start. The boss decides they are going to work together. Can Hazel and Corbin get past the anger and see where it leads? Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended. Love Hazel and Corbin this coming from a nerdy girl
I loved this book! Corban is completely sexy-adorkable. Hazel is his perfect match. They are both a little awkward and super intelligent. I enjoyed these two so much. They start out with a feisty enemy to lover banter that is a lot of fun. Then there is a scene in the copy room that nearly melted my Kindle. They form a friendship that progresses to so much more. I really enjoyed the growth of both characters throughout the story and especially Hazel’s as she learned to own and accept herself and events that occur. The friendship among the girls of the Dirty Martini Running Club is inspiring. They go after a goal, and we can all learn from their commitment to the goal and their support of each other. These ladies are incredibly fierce and I love them.
I originally borrowed this book on Kindle Unlimited, but before I was even finished I purchased the book outright. I can tell you this doesn’t happen very often, so that indicates how highly I esteem this well written, thoroughly enjoyable book.
Claire Kingsley has done it again. She’s given me a romance that makes me smile and laugh. I just want to live in this world with Hazel and Corban. I didn’t want this to end.
I couldn’t put it down. Once I got started, I couldn’t stop.
But really. Have you read the story of nerdy scientist falling in love with nerdy scientist? Probably not because it doesn’t sound fun.
But this is fun. Hazel and Corban are awkward and cute and so freaking adorable.
And by adorable I mean they have sexy in spades. There’s just something about these two that works and clicks and you want more of them.
More of the banter.
More of the fun.
More of the….cat?
Yep. More of the cat too.
What is not to love about this book???!!!??? Every page is amazing!! You have two quirky, brilliant, adorable, sexy, Hilarious characters. Hazel and Corbin are everything. Plus you get to catch up with the other characters from previous books. You’re brilliant with your Easter eggs Claire!!! Looking forward to more with group of friends!!
Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters, the prequel to Faking Ms. Right, book 1 of the Dirty Martini Running Club series were both fabulous and funny, and I couldn’t wait to read Hazel Kiegen’s story in book 2, Love According to Science. She’s a psychology researcher at Woodward College and is at constant odds with fellow science nerd Corban Nash who comes to work in her department…and his office is right next door.
I would give this book All the Stars if I could. Five is not nearly enough. This is such a clever, fresh take on finding your soul-mate and Corban and Hazel were two peas-in-a-pod, two penguins finding their own brand of crazy and living happily ever after.
I loved their tension even before they met in person. He created the theory of accelerated intimacy and after numerous successful tests on his friends and family, started to report on his findings. But our sweet heroine, a true academia with a fiery side was not buying it, and had no qualms sparing with our sexy brilliant hero via emails and face-to-face.
There are so many funny and heartwarming scenes and word choices in this story and I loved each and every one. Claire did a brilliant job researching these professions and portraying them perfectly on paper. I learned so much reading Love According to Science as it was filled with fun facts about animals and math, algorithms and science, and so much more. The topics blended seamlessly with the storyline, and I was 100% sold on the level of intellect they each possessed.
They were each so passionate and I loved watching them grow from enemies, to friends, to respected colleagues, back to enemies, to friends with benefits, back to enemies, then finally lovers. After getting to know one another, and participating in his intimacy survey, they started to see each other differently, but didn’t communicate their feelings well. Even though there were misunderstandings, they still supported one another and connected on a very personal intimate level. When they were together, both felt accepted for who they were and could embrace all that made them unique. It was heartwarming and often emotional to read.
Even though they were both brilliant and successful, they were only human and possessed self-doubt and just wanted to fit in. It was sad to read how he viewed himself growing up and how his relationship with his parents made him insecure. Corban was so humble and sincere, and kept all these feelings inside. I just wanted to hug them out of him! I loved the relationship he had with his twin sister, and how excited he was to be an uncle. And thank you Claire for the three Easter eggs of his basketball buddies! I missed my book boyfriends!
I love how Claire writes strong heroines who are independent yet have a soft side. I love Hazel’s relationship with her girlfriends and how they make time to spend with each other, and how she shared her dilemma of whether or not to pursue our sexy and smart, although a bit disheveled and forgetful hero, and their advice and support.
I mostly love how Corban and Hazel really got each other the way no one else ever has, and how they admire, appreciate, and enjoy each other. How they were there for each other both professionally and personally. How they prank each other, and their fun and flirty banter. And mostly how they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. Trust me, there are several hot and steamy scenes when these two through caution to the wind and let good old human instincts take over. Their chemistry gives credence to their research for sure!
Claire went above and beyond and took the time to research and start each chapter with a quote that perfectly blended with the storyline. My favorite was by someone anonymous, “The derivative for my love for you is zero, because my love for you is constant.” A perfect quote for Corban, a math genius to say!
I’m not going to tell you how amazing and fantastic this book is because it’s implied that all of Ck’s books give the reader a particular emotion. I’m going to write a review about a math genius who, beyond his professional successes, is so convinced that due to his awkwardness, he will never find the love of his life. But how could he be persuaded by this belief if he has created a procedure for people to match? Here comes into play Hazel, our female character who has almost the same traits as our Corban, who let me just point out is sexy as hell. So let me recap, Hazel and Corban, two nerds (by the way they are both seemingly enemies) who have given up on love whose stubbornness and infinite calculus are leading them towards a catastrophic situation. Fortunately there are going to be a series circumstances that will finally take down their walls and drive them towards the right path. The moral of this story in my opinion? If you’re feeling not worth of love just stop overthinking because love will catch you in the most unusual moments.
Such a good book! A book that’s a bit nerdy, a bit of wanting your enemy, a bit falling for your enemy, a bit of laugh out loud moments (ok, so more than a bit here), a bit of cameos from previous books and a whole lot of hotness. All these ingredients combined created a book that I couldn’t put down. I totally recommend grabbing this book and getting to know Hazel and Corban.
Brilliantly dirty with chemistry, so charged beakers around the world are spontaneously combusting.
**** Science!!!****
Hazel Kiegen and her nemesis / current obsession Corban Nash are about to test all of their boundaries where heart, mind, and sex are concerned.
These two high IQ individuals have matching stubborn streaks to boot- when they’re passionate about their theory, let the battle begin!
And what a battle it will be- what starts as a war of words over data, turns into a case study, that will melt your Kindle, heart, and have you looking for the nearest copy room!
Hilariously quirky, sauna level hot, engaging banter and amazing characters wrapped in a feel-good pump you up tale I could read for days. Claire Kingsley has once again written a spectacular romance reminding me why I read the books I do!
I highly suggest checking this book out for yourself… now I am off to find some Penguin Documentaries
Wow what a sweet book! I absolutely loved Hazel & Corban. This was such a great book about brainiacs & normal people with amazing friends & family that will stand by you & root for you!
This was such a quirky kind of a read. A real love/hate type of read with a bunch geekiness mixed it. The banter and the Childish things that happen are really fun to read. I love that it takes place in a college setting. It was overall a great read that was well written with a funny cat who stole the show.
Once again, Claire does not disappoint! Corban and Hazel’s story was amazing! I love a good enemies to lovers story and this was spot on.
