For psychology researcher Hazel Kiegen, science is everything. Her decision to swear off dating? Totally backed by her own calculations. Just don’t ask about her missing orgasms. She hasn’t been able to science her way out of that little conundrum. But her biggest problem? Corban Nash. He’s frustrating. Infuriating. And deliciously adorable, but that’s neither here nor there. He claims to have … claims to have cracked the code to falling in love, and Hazel is determined to prove him wrong.
Corban Nash created the theory of accelerated intimacy after numerous successful tests on his friends and family. Every couple who used his questionnaire fell in love, until Corban found himself the last single guy in his social circle, and a groomsman in dozens of weddings.
The only problem is, it’s never worked on him. And science hasn’t explained why.
Despite being the lone aberrant data point, Corban believes in his research, and with his new job, he’ll have the resources to prove it. Verifying his theory right under the nose of his nemesis, Hazel Kiegen? Even better.
There isn’t a theory in existence that will make Hazel fall in love with Corban. Not even with his sexy half-smile and temptingly muscular body. But from the moment these two rivals meet, sparks fly. And when they put his questionnaire to the test, the results aren’t what either of them expect.
>Author’s note: Stand-alone romcom featuring a hot nerdy hero in hate-lust with his sworn enemy. A heroine with book smarts and a fluffy cat named Erwin. So much awkwardness and geeky banter. Super hot hate sex. Badass lady friendships with a widening circle of trust. And an HEA that will leave you swooning with happiness and your heart exploding with glitter.

Nerdy enemies-to-lovers? Yes, please!
Two nerdy geniuses, who also happen to be gorgeous, go toe to toe over a scientific theory they *strongly* disagree about. She can’t stand the guy but when they lay eyes on each other for the first time, there’s obvious chemistry… even if it’s founded on a bit of tension.
Corban and Hazel’s story was so fun to read and I love how their quirks add the sprinkles on the cupcake.
Witty, funny, sexy, and sweet… Falling for My Enemy is another winner from Claire Kingsley!
Corban and Hazel! Everything I could possibly love in a story, Claire has! She writes such strong, smart, sexy women and I love every book because of it. I love Hazel and Corban’s enemies to lovers, and all the references to penguins…they are the BEST! I hope we get to see them more in more of the Dirty Martini Running Club series!
Gotta love a hot nerd. And this book has two! I love the way Hazel and Corban complement each other. They are so cute and awkward and absolutely perfect together.
This is the second book from the Dirty Martini Running Club series, and honestly I can’t wait for the next ones. This group of friends is one of the best ever written, they are loyal, funny, supportive and love each other to death. Hazel, Nora, Everly and now Sophie are the group of friends I wish I had. And I fully support them at all costs.
Hazel studies non-verbal communication at an University, Corban developed a questionnaire and claims that through it two people will fall in love. It worked with his sister and a couple of other people, but never with him. Hazel spend a lot of time attacking his theory and they become enemies, until he start to work at the same University as her.
They are adorable, their awkwardness are so similar and yet the both gorgeous nerds can’t seem to find common group. Their banter and little shenanigans to get back at each other are awesome! I fall in love with them and Hazel’s cat Erwin and yes he is not fat, just fluffy!
The way Claire unravel their romance with such a smart way, where you don’t seem to force each other and its gradual their progression between enemies to lovers. Corban made me change my favorite animal, I was always been a 100% lion fan, but now, can’t be other then penguin! It’s adorable and their way of life it’s so romantic. I just want to find my penguin, that gives me rocks. You need to read to understand!
I laughed a lot with the exchanges between Corban and Shepherd, the later was so protective of Hazel and I loved it all! Corban calling him Satan was so spot on, but hey he owns his relationship with Hazel to Shepherd!
The epilogue was perfect, it melted my heart! Hazel and Corban deserved all the best things in the world. Another amazing book from Claire, it’s smart, funny and emotional, with endearing characters. I wish I could read about this group forever.
I found a new book boyfriend. I volunteer to be Corban’s Penguin! I loved this romcom.
I am deliriously happy right now. I can’t have turned the last page more than 10 minutes ago, but I know I’ll be basking in this satisfied glow for days. I was giddy while reading this, I tell you. GID-DY.
And how could I not be with turns of phrase such as this:
“Paisley Hayes was standing in my apartment in her underwear, telling me she wanted to have sex. Seventeen-year-old me would have died if he knew what I was about to say.”
And Feynman quotes! Feynman quotes, people!!!
Gah, I just… So. Happy.
“For all the nerdy girls” indeed.
I loved this book! I always enjoy a good enemies to lovers romance, and this book brings it. Corban Nash is a big-data nerd who has come up with a questionnaire that can speed up a couple’s trajectory from attraction to love. Hazel Kiegen thinks his theory is hooey and has let him know that, in no uncertain terms. They are now working together at the same University and the simmering antagonism will eventually boil over into some hate-lust. What made this book great for me was Corban. He was a total hottie, absent minded professor, who just wants to find his penguin. Hazel was also likable and I loved the path to their happily ever after. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Absolutely loved it. I was hooked from the beginning and sad to see it end. I had been in a reading funk, not knowing exactly I was missing or what I was looking for, but this absolutely hit the spot. I loved the adorable awkwardness of both Corban and Hazel. Funnny, sweet, and sexy read that definitely brings out your emotions. I would recommend this to anyone.
This was my first Claire Kingsley book. I’m definitely going to check out the rest of her books. This was my favorite book of the year so far.
Hazel and Corban are rivals in the psychology department at the university where they both work. Hazel is very critical of Corban’s research and that really ruffles his feathers. He jerks her chain with petty pranks and then she feels the need to retaliate. This is an enemies to begrudging friends to lovers story.
Its very well written and very funny.. The dialogue is witty and you can’t help but like both of the main characters. It is also very believable–there’s nothing about the story that is over the top.
This steam rom com is the best romance has to offer! Enemies-to-lovers, nerdy hero, fierce lady friendships, witty banter. And most of all the big payoff – a heartwarming HEA!!
I didn’t know I had a thing for hunky nerds until I met Corban Nash. Also, as a perpetually single person who has given up on love, I’m going to need his questionnaire.
Hazel and Corban take enemies to lovers to a whole new level. Because what’s better than enemies? Genius enemies. I love their banter. Their chemistry is instant. But both are a little lost when it comes to love, and the journey that Claire takes us on as they figure out and learn about themselves is worth the read.
Along with this love story is a wonderful story about a group of friends that I hope every woman has in their lives. I hate running, but I’d take it up to be a part of this squad.
Also, it has a fat cat in it. Who doesn’t love a fat… I mean fluffy… cat?
5-stars and 5 dirty martinis!
What do you get when you put two superiority smart (nerds) people together who have chemistry you can feel off your kindle? An explosion of super hot romance escapades! But Hazel and Corban are quirky and lovable that you can’t help love them. For a rarity it’s Corban who’s the tongue tied nervous one when he’s around Hazel. Spewing out random animal facts. An adorably quirky, cute and Steaming hot book, you won’t want to put this one down. Claire does it again with her writing. And don’t worry there’s more dirty martini running club scenes as well that will have you in stitches.
Love According to Science by Claire Kingsley is a contemporary, enemies to friends-with-benefits to lovers, workplace romantic comedy told in first person, dual POV. Although it’s book two in the Dirty Martini Running Club series, it can be read as a standalone.
Psychology researcher, Hazel Kiegen, is irritated when she learns that Corban Nash will be a guest lecturer at Woodward College. He claims to have cracked the code to falling in love and has developed a questionnaire that he states will make two people fall in love when they answer the questions together. Hazel takes her job very seriously and she can’t believe they’re entertaining Coban’s theories when he clearly doesn’t have the data to back up his claims – and she’ll prove it. What will happen when Hazel and Corban are forced to work together? Read the book to find out.
I loved Corban and Hazel’s story! As characters, they were both adorkably brilliant, irritatingly stubborn, and endearingly quirky. I loved their witty banter and combustible chemistry. This book was so much fun! I read it from start to finish in one sitting. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment in the series. Highly recommended!
I’m a huge fan of Claire Kingsley’s. She brings something new and fresh to every book that she writes. She constantly amazes me with how she can balance romance and emotion with comedy.
Hazel and Corban are amazing! They are so funny and quirky and perfect for each other. As somewhat of a “nerd” myself, I really loved this geeky love story. While Hazel and Corban both think their level of nerd is too high to make them attractive to a ‘normal’ person, they are beyond perfect for each other. As a pair, they are adorable. They fit together, they love the random facts and data points the other tosses out at inopportune times, and support each other as only they can because they truly understand each other. Erwin the cat is a perfect pet for Hazel, and the fact that Corban defends him just a vehemently, and sticks up for Hazel, is amazing. It’s small details, like how she named her pet and how Erwin can manipulate her, that make Claire’s books so amazing. To go into the detail on what others may consider mundane, gives the characters so much depth and makes them so real that you can’t help but be invested in their journey.
This book is filled with witty banter, humor, emotions and so much love it’s ridiculous that it can even be contained on the pages.
If you’re looking for a fun ROMCOM this is your book!
This looks good! Its live too.
This tickled the funny bone and stimulated the nerve endings while walking us through a range of emotions. Claire has definitely developed a habit of bringing us 5 star romances.
Honest to goodness hot, stubborn and nerdy geeks with a penchant for math and science as well as animals bring us to our knees in this romantic comedy.
Corban Nash hasn’t figured out why he hasn’t fallen in love yet. He’s a one woman kind of penguin, er, man and he’s yet to find his soul mate even though he’s helped many others do the same. He’s even developed a theory for his process even though his nemesis Hazel Kiegan tries to stand in his way. He knows that if he can crack the code of falling in love for others then he stands a chance to do the same for himself.
Hazel is just as gorgeous, nerdy and stubborn as Corban and for some reason he has gotten under her skin. She’s a firm believer in the Scientific Method and he was just doing everything wrong and she felt it her job to point it out at every twist and turn. The problem is when they start to work together and the sexual chemistry they have shoots sparks off every moment they come in contact. Hate-lust? Is that a thing? She must have it. It all takes a turn for the better (or worst?) when they test out Corban’s theory themselves.
This is seriously a must one-click. A hysterical, enemies-to-lovers, nerdy hot guy, fantastic friendships romance with all the hot tension and fantastic banter you could ever want. Brilliant book and series!
I enjoyed reading about two geniuses falling in love. Initially they believe they are so very different. However,as they grow and learn more about each other and themselves they are like puzzle pieces slotting into the right places.
Wonderful characters, random animal facts and witty banter abound in this story.
Love According to Science is a truly delightful read.
It has everything you could possibly want in a romance. First, the enemies to lovers trope is always a winner. Then there’s the awesome, heartwarming relationships between Hazel and her girlfriends. There’s hot and super steamy nooky. And of course the requisite misunderstandnings and dramatics that makes a good lovestory truly great. Add to that some emotional side-stories and this read is the best.
I must admit though, that I had a bit of a hard time getting into this read. To me, the characters weren’t instantly likable and especially Hazel was difficult to relate to. She was depicted as the ultimate prude, stuck-up, know-it-all with all the stereotypic characteristics of a scientist, right down to her glasses and her tendency to express herself as a scientific paper. And I perceived Corban as a rather immature and definitely asexual individual. But as the story unfolded I got more and more engaged. And, oh boy, was I invested in both of them! Once I got past the stick up Hazel’s ass and Corban’s childish games, I loved this read. Loved it! I couldn’t put my Kindle down and read way too late into the night. There were some tears and many heart-wrenching moments. With the best end imaginable.
Love According to Science is the third stand-alone about the women of the Dirty Martini Running Club series. But if you ask me, this is the absolute best of them. It was simply a pleasure to read it and I recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a feel-good romance.

What do you do when your nemesis – who you’ve been hounding online for pushing what you think is bunk science – is now your coworker … who you must work closely with?
That is exactly the dilemma Hazel finds herself facing when Nash Corban, the creator of a questionnaire that purports to help participants fall in love, winds up in the office next door. Their rivalry is a current of tension that runs between them. They want each other, that’s for sure … and they hate it.
Corban is the most precious cinnamon roll who only wants to help other people find love and is driven by his desire to find it for himself. He’s convinced he won’t … that he is “broken” in some way because he finds it hard to relate to people … but he wants it so badly. It’s heartbreakingly sweet and relatable.
Hazel is an exceptional psychology researcher who, despite seeming socially awkward, is incredibly insightful. She isn’t totally clueless to social norms … she just doesn’t care about them most of the time. People might think she’s a freak, but she understands human behavior better than most people, and that makes her almost impervious to any attempt to bring her down.l
For all their differences, they bring out different sides of each other – not only do they bring out the carnal, savage side of each other, but they also challenge each other intellectually. It makes them an unstoppable team when they combine forces and set their minds to achieving a common goal.
I absolutely adored every interaction between these two – whether they were throwing verbal jabs, breaking HR policies, or being soft with one another. Corban and Hazel with a storm of passion that swept me away and gave me the biggest book hangover!
And, of course, I loved the inclusion of a great group of female friends who hold each other up and the strong focus on the importance of female friendship.
If you still aren’t convinced, I leave you with these quotes:
“She didn’t just make me mad, she made me furious. I wasn’t just attracted to her, I was obsessed with her. There was no in-between. Either she was smiling at me and I wanted to kiss her, or she was glaring at me and I wanted to bury her. Or f*** the fight out of her. That last one especially.”
“Because I’m good for him. I understand him and he understands me and there are so few people who do. For both of us”
