Will her hurts from the past and the secrets he hides work in their favor or end things before they can even begin?

Can they figure it out before my head explodes?
The Swoony Sports Romances are aptly named. All swoony no matter which one you read. And this one is no exception. Even though this is the second book in the series, I have read all the other ones before this one. I read about the red carpet swap from Ryker’s and Trista’s point of view in book five ‘Flirting With First’. However, Cole is a conundrum. Sometimes he is a sweet guy, one who cares for the plight of foster children and drums up physical and monetary support for them. But on the other hand, can be a real tool with his public actions toward women. And Harlow…she keeps going back and forth with trying to figure out if she really likes Cole or not. I couldn’t figure out who I was more frustrated with, Cole or Harlow. I’m glad they finally figured it out before my head exploded.
Easy enough to read. I found it difficult to engage with the characters. Both seemed immature for there age. I enjoyed the work they did for good causes such as Foster Children and Woman’s issues.
Love this author and this series!
Such great characters. Harlow and Cole make the sweetest couple, even with all of the obstacles standing in their way.
At another time the story would have driven me crazy but when I opened it up I knew it would be silly so I had low expectations. I actually enjoyed it but it did have some issues for me. The writing was good but the story line and characters had issues. A reporter for a collage who is a woman’s advocate for woman would never in a million years fall for a guy who has his own dance, wears sunglasses everywhere and who constantly has woman draped all over him. It just would not fly. Mrs. Summers does a good job of making this all work but in reality I am not sure these two could ever over come there differences. This is a clean romance with a bit of kissing.
Unfortunately, Cole’s story is more of a tug of war than a typical romance. They are attracted to each other, and when they let down their guard, are actually good together, but then the rest of their life filters in and they’re telling each other it’s not going to work. After so many “it’s not going to work”, I started to believe it. After all, he’s a larger than life baseball star with women flocking around him every time he goes anywhere and she’s a women’s rights advocate.
I agree with the other reviewer about the social justice stuff. It was very heavy handed and forced upon the reader. I also agree with another reviewer about them not respecting each other and acting like preteens. All in all, there was way too much accusation, miscommunication, and disrespect to really believe the relationship could survive. They were too much opposites to each other.
Romance – steamy PG / lots of kissing
Language – PG
My rating – 3 stars
I loved the characters in this story. I especially enjoyed when they were taunting each other and how the crowd loved it, too! I don’t usually read sports romance, but this one is super!
A clean sports romance.
This is a fabulous sports romance. Cole “Big Dawg” Hunter is the centerfielder for a MLB team. He and 5 of his friends comprise “The Belltown Six Pack”, 6 young men who were from Belltown and attended the same local college. All were drafted to play professional baseball. This book also features a young woman named Harlow Ember who lives in Belltown and attended the same college. Harlow is a journalist for their alma mater and local newspaper. While she and Cole have known each other for years, neither is aware of the other one’s interest. In fact, both are sure that the opposite is true. Harlow is assigned by the newspaper to run stories on the Belltown Six Pack to boost the ratings. Her job with the college also benefits from the publicity of the Six Pack.
Without giving away too much of the plot, the road between Harlow and Cole is riddled with misunderstanding, jealousy, insecurity, fame, wealth, as well as physical distance. But never fear! A HEA ending is in their future.
A clean sweet romance that is well written and fun to read. It a standalone that is second in the Belltown Six Pack series and is Cole’s story. Their is witty dialogue and competitiveness between Harlow and Cole which truly made this a enjoyable and entertaining story. Cole has secrets and Harlow has been hurt in the past will they be able to find acceptance and understsnding to get their HEA. They have amazing chemistry some drama, misunderstandings, family, and lots of frustrations. I honestly and voluntarily reviewed this ARC and can’t wait to read the others stories.
I’m loving this series especially what the loser had to do when he lost the bet. Funny.
I enjoy Sophia Summer’s writing style. It’s a pleasure to read. The main characters in this book, Cole and Harlow, had a on and then very off kind of relationship for most of the book. Cole was a flirt and pressured to be so by his boss. Harlow had been played the fool by an athlete before and was therefore, very wary. Cole was also generous, giving, a devoted son, and wanted an intelligent woman passionate about her beliefs. I loved Cole’s relationship with his parents and his college teammates. The banter between the teammates and between Cole and Harlow added a nice touch of humor to the book. The story also dealt with some serious issues–foster care and women’s issues. I would recommend this to readers of clean sports romance.
This is the second book in the Belltown Six Pack series. This group of baseball players is so fun, and they have such a great friendship. I’m excited to see each of them find love. This time, it was Cole’s turn.
I loved Cole!…when he was being himself. When he put on his Big Dawg persona, he could be a bit of an idiot sometimes. However, the insecurity that brought that on was endearing and real. I loved watching him with the children, his family, the Six Pack, and, of course, with Harlow, where the chemistry was off the charts. The competitiveness between Harlow and Cole added a lot of fun to the story. There were misunderstandings and frustrations, but oh, was there ever great romance, too!
I received a complimentary copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.
Cole & Harlow are enchanting when its only them together. When in the company of others they become different. I didn’t get the Big Dawg dance & his show-off attitude through he has a big heart for foster care kids. They both group each other into “catagories” that make their relationship difficult. They have trouble communicating also till near the end of the story. The story ends well. Guess I’m just not into sports stars.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest, voluntary opinion.
I don’t typically read sports romance books, but I did like reading this one. This story introduced the Belltown Six pack athletes who we will see in future books. I liked the main characters-Cole, his dad, and Harlow. It was fun to read their banter and obvious chemistry, but sometimes their back and forth irritated me when all they needed to do was to be honest with each other.
The story line was good and kept my interest but sports romance book aren’t really my favorite so I probably won’t be reading more of the series. The author did a great job though with the character development and keeping the story interesting; so if you enjoy sports-especially baseball-I’m sure you will like this clean romance!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
This was adorable! Fun, funny, and full of feeling!
I loved this book! So fun to read, the characters were great (flaws and all), and the baseball was fun too. I love a great story with realistic characters, clean romance, and a happy ending!
Can Harlow discover who the real Cole is? And what are Cole’s priorities?
This was an enjoyable story with a lot of banter but I was wondering why he wasn’t telling her why he behaved like that.
Cole “Big Dawg” Hunter, a famous MLB player liked to return to his college town to meet up with “the Six Pack”, his college teammates and help with The Beacon of Hope, a children’s center for foster families. Meeting up with another college mate, Harlow Ember, played havoc with his mind.
Harlow was attracted to Cole but wanted nothing to do with another jock after being cheated on before. But his mesmerizing green eyes begin to play with her emotions. Every time thing starts to heat up, a Hollywood star, a team owner or the name “daddy” causes a major breakup or misunderstanding.
Will they be able to overcome all the foul balls or hit a homerun?
