This is a first for me by this author and I must say guys what a read. I was hooked at the prologue and believe me that doesn’t happen often.
We meet Brooke and Cole. Best friends since they were five, they were inseparable. School together. Hang out together. They were never apart.
Prom night. Cole is there. Brooke isn’t. But she was supposed to be. So Cole does the only thing he knows. He has to find Brooke. He needs to know that she’s okay.
Brooke and Cole on prom night. I am sure you can guess what happens.
But it’s what happens after that that will completely shatter your heart and soul. It did mine.
An unplanned pregnancy.
A marriage.
A house and instant family.
It’s all too much.
Something has to give……
And it does.
Cole leaves. Feeling like a failure Cole walks away from not only his wife but his beautiful little girl to make a better life for them all.
But Cole knows that Brooke will be okay in his absence.
But is she?
What happened to Brooke?
Where did she go?
Where is Brooke their daughter Kaia?
Cole needs to find them. He has too, before it’s too late.
This story captured my heart. A heartbreaking but yet heart-warming read that I literally couldn’t put down. A powerful story about trust, betrayal, secrets, lies, love and pain. It had everything emotionally you could think of in a novel. I just adored this novel and I cannot wait to read the next installment because the need to know what happens next is consuming me guys. The struggle is real!!
4 stars
Nice
I could not put the series down I read them both in 2 days !
Like the story, annoyed that you have to buy the second book for the rest of the story.
I loved this book, but very disappointed to be left hanging. I can’t wait for next book.
I probably wouldn’t have read this book if I knew it didn’t end but continues on in the next book.
Not happy when the book is continued in the next book
Cliff hanger …not a complete book …it was good but shouldn’t have ended there
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!
I was glued to this book from the very first page and I was already crying in the prologue. Lol. Typical for Wendy’s books. Wendy Smith is my new favorite Author her books touch something deep inside me that warms my heart but breaks it at the same time. Her characters grab ahold of you and never let go until the very end. I love every minute of it. At times I could almost feel the characters emotions coming off the pages. Brooke and Cole were two young adults who get pregnant right before their lives are about to start. Even though they’re from different sides of town their mothers make them get married unfortunately Cole’s father isn’t happy about any of it and thinks Brooke is lying about who the father is just to trap Cole. After Kaia is born, when she’s three months old Cole decides he’s not cut out for fatherhood so he leaves to go to college but promises to come visit when he can and trusts his father to take care of Brooke and Kaia by making sure they get support from his trust fund but as soon as Cole leaves his father turns into an even bigger ass and gives Brooke no choice but to take Kaia and go. I could not put this book down. Just when you think things are looking up something happens that had me saying WTF?! I have to admit even though Cole seems to have grown into a good man if I were Brooke I would not have let him back into my life. He really has no right to even see Kaia since unbeknownst to him he never paid any kind of child support or bothered to come back for her and Kaia over the last four years. Brooke has had to work two jobs and alot of struggling to take care of her daughter. As things began to be revealed I was feeling such a plethora of emotions that I realized I was holding my breath. Lol. I laughed and I cried and little Kaia is about as adorable as they come. What a sweetheart. When I got to the last chapter the suspense gets so intense that now I HAVE TO go so I can find out what happens in the next book. Lol. I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone.
If you like the romance/page-turner books this one is for you! This Book makes you remember the times you’ve thought “What If?”. It reminds you that sometimes taking a second chance on someone might be worth it all………..
Reading this book is the best way to change the mood ….
It was too predictable and kept repeating the same theme in almost every chapter.
Great read! Make sure to get both books at the same time. The characters suck you in to their story.
The first book of the story of a love that lasts a lifetime!
I RARELY buy the sequels but I did for this one! THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE!!
I finished and enjoyed book 1of this duet, it was free. Now, I need to purchase book 2.
I really enjoyed this book so much that I bought part 2.
Flips back and forth between years/points of view ~ then just ends end in a cliff hanger. I was not prepared for the sudden cliff hanger. I avoid those like the plague, so was unamused to read one. It is what it is. I won’t be buying the follow up book(s).
hate that it ended in cliff hanger.
I enjoyed reading. The book kept my interest
