Finally, the first three books in the Jesse McDermitt Caribbean Adventure Series have been compiled into a boxed set. These books will take the reader from Jesse’s last day in the Marine Corps, to the Florida Keys, taking on sex slavers deep into the Everglades, fighting terrorists on the coast of Cuba, scuba diving in Cozumel, Mexico and back again, with a shootout in Key West and plenty of … action and adventure on the high seas, along the way.
Fallen Out, Volume 1:
When Jesse McDermitt retires from the Marine Corps at age 37, he has no idea what he will do for the rest of his life. He only knows he doesn’t want to spend the coming winter anywhere cold. His greatest skill is killing people from up to a mile away and he knows there aren’t many job opportunities in the civilian world for that.
However, he also knows his way around boats and has an old friend living free and easy in the Florida Keys. Being an experienced diver and angler, he immediately heads south toward Key West and the end of the road.
With a single comment, a waitress in a waterfront restaurant in north Key Largo shakes loose a long dormant dream and Jesse runs with it. With the help of friends, new and old, he buys just the right boat to live on and soon starts a part time charter business.
Danger lurks in the sleepy little town of Marathon, in the middle of the Florida Keys, as well as in the swamps of the Everglades. But danger doesn’t expect to run into a man like Jesse. A man who will not only respond swiftly in facing it, but with a vengeance unexpected.
Fallen Palm, Volume 2
Jesse McDermitt lives alone on an isolated island in the Florida Keys where he runs a charter fishing business. Retired from the Marine Corps for six years, he wanted nothing more than to relax, fish, dive and enjoy the laid back lifestyle of the islands.
Russ, his former Platoon Sergeant and old friend, dies unexpectedly in a mysterious scuba diving accident and Jesse becomes suspicious. When his friend’s son comes to south Florida to ask Jesse if he would take him to a remote reef to spread his father’s ashes, the two men discover that Russ was murdered and agree to hunt down the psychotic killer together, unaware that their manhunt will lead them to a Caribbean terrorist cell.
Meanwhile, a beautiful woman has returned to the Keys on a manhunt of her own, distracting Jesse with the idea that he could finally leave his warrior past behind. The prospect of finding lost Confederate gold, several high speed boat chases and dodging demented killers, won’t stop Jesse from revenge. Surviving a powerful hurricane puts everything on hold as a top secret government agency tries to recruit him into their fold.
When the sun comes back out, will Jesse be ready?
Fallen Hunter, Volume 3
Jesse’s back in this exciting sequel to Fallen Palm. Grieving over the loss of a loved one to terrorists, Jesse’s been holed up on his island home for months, numbing his mind and body with endless, mundane tasks.
A friend comes to him asking Jesse to help her dad who’s been pressured into running drugs for a Cuban smuggler. Jesse finds out the smuggler is also an arms merchant for Hezbollah, the terrorist organization responsible for the death of someone close. Once again, Jesse looks to settle the score.
Fast boats, beautiful underwater scenery, and blazing guns abound in this fast paced romp through the Caribbean, with stops in Cuba, Key West, and Cozumel, Mexico.

Wayne Stinnett is an excellent author and all of his Fallen Series with Jessie McDermott as the main character are awesome. They were so good that at the end when they have an online store that you can buy items, I bought 2 t-shirts that say, “Hanging with friends at the Rusty Anchor Bar and Grill”. I felt like I had been there with the characters!
I love this Wayne Stinnett series, featuring a retired military dude; he’s kind of a Jimmy Buffet with many automatic weapons. My kinda guy.
Glad I got to read this set. I’m always in favor of the good guys beating the bad guys and this set had a lot of that. Being a female, I enjoy seeing the female characters being as strong as the males, so this one fit the bill on that score. It gave a lot of description and insight into the Florida Keys, which was informative.
Not totally realistic on all accounts, but close enough that I read each book in succession. I especially liked how the lead male was respectful. Not just to the females but cab drivers, hotel clerks, waitresses. But he wasn’t a weakling either, he could bring it on with the best and did so, repeatedly.
Wayne has a way of writing that makes you want to ride along on the adventures and live amongst the friendships that his charaters enjoy!
I loved this character from his retirement from the U.S. Marines to his becoming a business man in the Keys. The character development in all of this authors’ books is outstanding. I have read four books so far and was not disappointed with any of them.
Possibly realistic. Great plots. I am waiting for more books. I have visited Key West just tO see the locales mentioned in the books.
I have read each of these books individually and have shared the paperback editions with several of my friends who are now hooked on the entire series.
Really want to read the rest of the fallen books, enjoyed the surprises in the stories and cannot help but wonder how Alice returns..
I just finished reading all 19 of the Jesse McDermitt series by Wayne Stinnett. In order. And one right after another. Every one a great read. Which brought me to the Charity Styles series, where I read all six of those! This author can really write some stories! I highly recommend both sets of books.
This includes the first four books in the Jesse McDermitt “Fallen” series. I think originally this was a three-book series with a prequel which was converted to a new book one and subsequently a four-book series. I appreciate that addition as I feel that it provides interesting, fun, and needed backstory and motivation for the main character. The books can be read in any order as there is sufficient detail in each to step in at any point. But I have enjoyed reading them in sequence as I feel a greater understanding of the series and character arcs.
Jesse is an entertaining fellow. If you like adventure, his stories are fascinating and fun. The writing is very detailed, the descriptions explicit and precise. As the stories build from book to book a predominant family feel develops among a group of individuals who are not generally related but connected by a level of understanding and intention.
If your idea of fun is bouncing around the Caribbean for one adventure after another, from bad guys to treasure, to big boats and guns, this is the box set you’re looking four!
I totally love this series, and anything written by this author!
One of my favorite authors!
This collection was my first introduction to Wayne Stinnett, and I’m hooked. His books are tightly written with a great story and good action. Makes me want to visit this part of Florida just from his descriptions! I’m now reading my way through all he has written, trying to make myself go slowly and savor.
I couldn’t get enough of Jesse McDermitt and his action-packed, save-the-world lifestyle.
Wayne Stennit is a great writer. His visuals of the Keys are superb. If you love the Keys this series is for you. These first three books lay the groundwork for all of the later books. I can’t get enough of Jessie.
Love the setting. Feels like a vacation with boats.
Loved Fallen Out. 5 stars. I’m a big fan of intrigue and love to see when the bad guys get what they deserve. Lots of details about guns and diving, not my thing but I’m sure it hits home for other readers. I love how the characters in the book—locals, ex-marines and their families and friends stick together to get the job done without asking too many questions. It made me look at life in the Florida Keys differently. Semper Fi!
Only 3 Stars for Fallen Palm. Hated the end where the story stopped rather than ended. A horrible thing happened, which was glossed over, I suppse to leave it for the reaction and resolution in the next book in the series. Too much detail in between events. Not enough major plot points. How many times can we hear how gorgeous the girlfriend is, how many men are hiding out in boats waiting to pounce, how many drinks and bar fights happen. Maybe this is a guy’s book. The author knows Miami and the Keys and makes us feel as if we’re there. Won’t be reading #3.
Great continuity
It was interesting to learn about the Florida Keys but actual story wasn’t action packed and author didn’t do good job of building intensity when needed.
Loved the series and plenty of mystery and suspense. Great carryover from book to book! Loved all the characters and locale.
