He’s not the only person I should be afraid of.Someone wants me to enjoy this twisted ordeal. I’m supposed to have faith in him. To feel safe. To grow. To blossom. But how can I trust this voice from the past? How can I trust him when he denies answers to all of my questions? Why does he hurt me like this? And why does it feel so unbelievably good when he does? I’m addicted to his touch, and … good when he does?
I’m addicted to his touch, and scared of the sinister mystery between us.
Nothing will change if I don’t grasp at the shred of power he’s willing to relinquish.
An advantage was given to me—and I better make good use of it.
This is the final part of a Dark Romance Duet. Petal’s story is now complete.

This is book two in the duet. It starts where the first book left off. I like that because we don’t miss anything. The reader is still on Petal’s journey to discover why J has taken her. Her best friend Malia helps her along the way. We hear more about Christopher and who he is to Petal. There is more written about the Bridgewater murders and how it all connects. Overall, a great ending to the story! I am voluntarily writing a review from an ARC.
Well, the twists and turns kept coming, but this time there were revelations that kept being placed for the reader to want more. Every page had something new and it kept you enthralled. The intensity between Jayson and Petal was off the charts. The story was fantastic, the emotion was true and you could feel it as the reader. I really enjoyed this duet and I recommend it.
I received this advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the the second book in the duet and must be read after Lost Petal. If you haven’t read Lost Petal, skip this review or face spoilers! There is so much we don’t know going into this story. The author does a superb job of a slow reveal of their histories while building their current relationship. I loved the suspense and tension. I didn’t feel like I knew the characters well until the second half of this book-who was good, who was honest-but once this became clear, it all fit together perfectly. I am going to have to read this again, now that I understand the story better, because this is one of those books that will be richer for a second read. Superb dark romance.
I am voluntarily leaving my opinion of a review copy of this book.
Petal watches a few seconds of a video with her in it, telling herself that she’s exactly where she wants to because she needs Jayson to help her and she can trust him. Petal has no idea why she’s there or what Jayson’s helping her with but she’ll try to make the most of this strange situation. Famous mesmerist Jayson Bowlan has loved Petal forever and finally has her the way he’s wanted for so long. But Jayson’s not the only person who wants Petal and he’s willing to do anything to have Petal all to himself, including getting rid of Jayson. Is this the end for Petal and Jayson?
Lost Petal is a dark, intriguing and suspenseful story full of twists and turns that will grab your interest from start to end
A wonderful sequel to the first part. For us a lot of answers and clarifications .. but still enough things that make you yearn for the next part. From me 5 stars .. intense and it tastes like more.
I got an arc and volunteered to leave a review.
What a fantastic end to this duet! The continuing story of Jayson and Petal has me mesmerized from the very beginning! So much so, that I read it in one sitting. Petal knows deep in her mind and heart, that she somehow knows Jayson, but with her memory impaired, she’s just not sure how. But she does know they have a deep bond and attraction that she is bound and determined to find out why. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat as so many questions get answered. The chemistry between these characters is so real and so hot. And the way this author writes, you can feel the emotions between them down to your very soul. I don’t want to give away too much, but suffice it to say that this duet is a definite must read! But make sure you read Lost Petal first!
My brain has just been twisted into uncomprehending goo. If ‘Total Recall’ were bent all out of shape and turned into a dark romance, I think it would have a lot in common with this story. This book takes an unflinching look at who we are because of what we remember. Would we still be the same people without certain key memories? I knew that Jayson and Petal’s story was going to be the equivalent of putting my brain in a blender and pressing frappe, but I had to read it anyway. It is so compelling. The emotions and chemistry spark from the page. And the author has even added more than a touch of her signature intrigue to the story. Which, I confess, had me nearly hyperventilating as we neared the end of the book. My reader wasn’t the only thing that melted, my brain has too.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
It starts right where the first book ended and its amazing just like the first book.
I loved the conclusion to Jayson and Petal’s story. It was dark and enticing journey, and it was really fun to read.Just like the first book, this one also had kept me on the edge of my seat and I was so invested into this story that I read it while having fever(but at least I had excuse to stay in bed the whole day).
Petal still doesn’t know anything about herself, her situation and what is happening outside of her room. But,at the end of the first book she got something that will help her to trust Jayson and therefore to learn more about herself. Petal is very smart girl and I loved her character. She knows what is expected of her and she is following the rules, but at the same time asking for something in return when she knows that she has earned it.She knew just how far can she push Jayson to gain something from him.And he did fallen into her trap.He is the one leading the game and setting the rules but she is twisting those rules so she can learn more about her situation.Jayson is,for the lack of better word, twisted. As a reader I was really drawn to him.He is the one that knows what is happening and in every chapter he was revealing just the tiny pieces of the story.Enough for me to be hooked and enough for me to question him.At some point I was wondering weather I was right or wrong about somethings.
The only thing that I didn’t like in this book was Jayson and Petal relationship.Don’t get me wrong they are good together, the chemistry was real and I loved them together. But the thing that I didn’t like were the BDSM parts of their relationship.
I have to be honest and say that no mater how many times I tried, with different books,I was never able to understand that kind of relationship.Fiction or not.Calling someone pet, master, sir and putting a collar around their neck is something that pretty much makes me disgusted.I would never allow anyone to “own” me,I’m a real person and not an object. So yeah,I wasn’t able to fully enjoy Jayson and Petal’s relationship.
Overall,I loved this book and I’m really glad that I could get my hands on one of the early copies.
Definitely recommendation from me.
This is the conclusion to this dark and delicious duet. Jayson and Petal’s story continues to unfold with lots of drama, powerful emotions and intensity. There are so many twists and turns in this series and the will keep you fully engaged and entertained. Suspenseful, steamy and intriguing, you do not want to pass this duet by.
This was a fascinating book to read, it unfolds for the reader much as Petal’s understanding of her life unfolds. Just as the reader becomes impatient for answers, Ms. May gives an insight just as Jayson does to Petal, it is fascinating and compelling and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Wow this book was such a twisted, dark romantic story that it always had us guessing what will happen next. Petal and J seem to have this undeniably attraction that will make them burn with need. I can’t wait to see kwhat happens next. This is by far a dark tragedy but so worth the read. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
