He’s not the only person I should be afraid of.Someone wants me to enjoy this twisted ordeal. I’m supposed to have faith in him. To feel safe. To grow. To blossom. But how can I trust this voice from the past? How can I trust him when he denies answers to all of my questions? Why does he hurt me like this? And why does it feel so unbelievably good when he does? I’m addicted to his touch, and … good when he does?
I’m addicted to his touch, and scared of the sinister mystery between us.
Nothing will change if I don’t grasp at the shred of power he’s willing to relinquish.
An advantage was given to me—and I better make good use of it.
This is the final part of a Dark Romance Duet. Petal’s story is now complete.
more
This is still a dark romance novel, and has some BDSM, as well as some other triggers that some readers may find difficult to read about.
Linnea May has done a great job of keeping her readers on their toes. Plenty throughout the book to keep us guessing, and wondering and a serial killer to also think about.
This book starts where the previous book ended. Malia has given Petal an insight, something that just confirms the feeling of safety she has when she is around Jayson.
We find out more about Petal’s past and the heartbreaking reason she saw Jayson before. We also get an insight into Jayson, about his gift, and about his feelings for Petal and what happened in the past. The more I got to know about Jayson the more I could understand his relationship with Petal.
We can relate to Petal because we know as much as she does, and learn all about her past along with her. In this book Petal remembers familiarity, which is then elaborated with the help of Jayson.
I enjoyed being on this journey with Petal and I am glad she got her HEA. However, I would love to know Malia’s story. Not much of Malia in this book, apart from a hint of a Cliffhanger in regards to why is she not answering her phone in Atlanta???…
WOOHOO!
Loved, loved LOVED Petal and J’s story. It was dark, it was intense, it was hot, steamy and down right dirty. Just the way I like it!
I really enjoyed that you learned things alongside Petal, it made me more invested in her story.
Although, I did not see THAT twist coming!
Well done Linnea May, they usually don’t get by me that easily.
Great ending to the story.
Oh, and I got all my questions answered!
Thank you!
Delightfully Dark
Professionally written, “Fallen Petal” is part two of the “Petal” duet, ending the mystery of Petals identity and history, revealing both the motives as well as connotations behind her memory loss. The suspenseful mystery continues nearly to the end, managing to keep readers engaged and on edge until the story’s conclusion. The narrative is well paced, exposing subtle hints along the way to astute readers and delivering several twists to the enigmatic story-line. This is a darkly erotic romance and the psychological aspects of the story are not imbued in fact but nevertheless a highly entertaining, fictional piece with just a touch of the preternatural.
“Fallen Petal”, as its predecessor “Lost Petal” contains material that some readers may find objectionable such as imprisonment, unequal power dynamic and harsh BDSM practices leaving welts, bruises, minor lacerations as well as the questionable ethics of a mental health professional.

Petal has had her memory erased and is being held in an isolated room. Book #1 gives some hints – but answers are found in this book (#2). Some background is provided for both Petal and her “captor”. This is tense, gritty, sensual and fascinating. To say more might give something away – just know once you pick it up, you will need to finish it!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Another dark, intense, full of twists and turns, amazing book by Linnea. Like every one of her books that I have read, this book will get you hook line and sinker.
Yes! The answer to who Petal is and how Jayson fit(s) into her life is answered. Wonderful book full of surprises, suspense, hot sex and mysteries solved. Don’t miss this follow-up book to Lost Petal!
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
Phenomenal and Thrilling!
This is one phenomenal, dark and twisted psychological thriller! This story will definitely mess with your mind. There are so many twists and turns throughout that at points in the story you thought you had it figured out and then BAM a new twist to throw you off the scent! It is a roller coaster ride of epic proportions! Better buckle up and hang on!
Petal and Jayson are fascinating characters. The way they interact and the push and pull of power is entertaining, intriguing and utterly thrilling. Their chemistry is mind-blowing and the sex is exciting and highly combustible. You don’t want to miss their story.
This amazing author has given us readers an utterly incredible and thrilling story! Absolutely Phenomenal storytelling and amazing writing. Definitely recommended to anyone who likes to read dark and twisted stories that will mess with your mind.
Read both Petal books. The series kept me intrigued and was a page turner. I liked the fact that it kept me guessing throughout as to what the whole story of Petal was. I am interested in reading Malia’s story.
I could NOT wait for Fallen Petal to come out. The first book gave us so much to go with on questions but very little answers to anything. The main one being why is this happening to Petal. And what was she looking at at the very end of book 1.
We get all those answers and more so much more. J is Petal’s protector even when he doesn’t seem like it. Petal needs this to work even if she doesn’t know it. But sometimes things don’t always work out for the best.
This conclusion is awesome! If you are looking for a dark, sexy, hot, mysterious story this is the duet for you
Well, Linnea May, you got me. I can usually figure out a mystery long before I come anywhere near the ending, but not this time.
And kudos to this author for another extremely well written and developed character driven story. This is the second book of a duet, so you have to read the first book, Lost Petal, before you even consider delving into this second half of the story.
Petal’s memory remains significantly impaired in every respect, although the small insight her best friend, Malia, showed her validated her feeling of safety with Jayson, the man demanding she call him Master who was apparently holding her hostage. As time and the story progresses, Petal begins to have some more vague memory recollections and the reader gets even more background and history about what occurred prior to Petal’s total memory loss.
Ultimately, all the questions are answered in this very intriguing story. That is, except possibly for one. What happened to Malia in Atlantic City and why wasn’t she answering her phone?
Fallen Petal is the conclusion to the dark, erotic romance which began in Lost Petal. Petal still doesn’t know her own name but craves the bliss that only the darkness in Jayson can provide. Jayson isn’t ready for Petal to find out the truth but it’s out of his hands. Will his revelations bind them together or break them apart forever?
I always enjoy Linnea May’s books and I was satisfied with the way the story played out in this final book of the Petal duet. Questions are answered, the villain revealed. Petal and Jayson got their happy ending and I am interested to read Malia’s story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I wasn’t sure at all where this book was headed and it certainly didn’t end up where I thought it would. I absolutely LOVE when an author can surprise me and Linnea May did just that with Fallen Petal. I kept me guessing and near the end I couldn’t read fast enough to see what was going to happen. I really enjoyed Jayson and Petal’s story
A dark psychological thriller with a few twist you will not see coming. I really enjoyed the book, it is one of those that keeps you guessing and interested from the beginning to the end.
This was the conclusion to Petal and Jayson’s story and left off right where book one ended. This book had a huge surprise in it, and I am generally one who is able to figure out the twist before it is revealed and I have to say, this one took me by surprise. I mean I had my suspicions, but it was so much more than I ever could have figured out. This story was fresh and new and the storyline was like nothing that I have read before. These were my first two books by Linnea May and I can say that I look forward to reading more of her books.
This is the second book in this duet and I do recommend reading them in order. Petal and Jayson are intriguing characters and there were plenty of twists and turns in this read. The story and the characters really draw you into this dark world as their story is revealed. I loved it!
The story is very well written. It is also steamy, sexy, so full of mystery and suspense that will keep you coming back for more.
I can’t wait to read Linnea May’s next book.
I am voluntarily writing a review from an ARC.
The conclusion to Jayson and Petal’s Journey is one hell of a ride!
It was filled with twists and turns.
It’s also dark, intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat.
I loved both Jayson and Petal.
Both are strong and determined, both grow and learn.
Their chemistry is intense and hot!
Ms. May delivers an outstanding duet!
It’s unique and a very new concept for me.
I’ve never read a book with this type of plot.
It’s very well written, the characters are great and the storyline is creative and original.
Just an overall excellent read!
After the cliffhanger of Lost Petal, I was incredibly nervous. Would Linnea May make her readers wait far into the second book in the duet, Fallen Petal, to know what Malia showed Petal at the end of the first book? Or would she provide us relief quickly?
Thankfully, the latter is the case. Fallen Petal resolves the cliffhanger of the first book right from the start, but we are still left with so many questions. Is J (Jayson) heroic? Is he really working for Petal, or is he taking only for himself? Will Malia expose Jayson and, by extension, Petal to Christopher or Robert? Will Petal aka Liliane remember her past? Will it affect her future? Who is she meant to give her future to?
And all of these questions kept this reader (me) reading Linnea May’s story. There is something exquisite about the writing of this story. The reader is treated as a voyeur to Petal’s life. The same cloud of confusion that Petal experiences is created for the reader as well. As the story progresses, little bits of Petal’s memory and Jayson and Liliane’s story are portioned out. Just as there is a blank state to Petal’s memory, there is an essence of a blank slate for the reader too. It allows you to drift along, hoping for the story to turn certain ways, but never really sure if you want it to go a particular way.
For me, I needed Jayson and Petal to be a couple, even though the way that Petal is presented at the beginning makes this a dubious consent story. Jayson’s actions with Petal should make the reader uncomfortable under most conventional standards. There is some BDSM and serious s$x in this story. Instead, you find yourself hoping that Jayson loves Petal, and the steps he’s taken for her life are sincere.
This book answers all of the questions of the first book. You get Jayson’s background and Liliane/Petal’s background. The history is included, and all of your questions end with answers by the end of Fallen Petal. I was entirely fulfilled with this book except I would have liked more ending. I love a good epilogue, but I would really enjoy a bonus epilogue for this story. I believe Linnea May has plans for Malia’s story. Hopefully, we’ll find more of J and Petal in her story.
Get this duet. You won’t be disappointed.
Overall:
Petal and Jayson”s conclusion was breath taking beautiful. the suspence and twists in this story just blew me away, I thought it was very original and so well written and these characters come to life right off the pages and you will feel every single emotion as this intense story unravels. So well written all I can say is read it you will love it.
This was a fantastic follow up to “Lost Petal”. Petal has lost her memory, she is unable to remember who she is and why she trusts Jayson. She feels a bond/attraction to Jayson and is determined to figure out why. I really enjoyed the conclusion to this dark psychological thriller romance. Petal and Jayson were interesting characters and the chemistry between them was intense. The book was well written with a engaging storyline that was emotionally intense, had suspense, intrigue, betrayal, rejection, drama, passion and steam. A fantastic read that kept me turning the pages from beginning to end.
I received a readers copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
