New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti delivers a pulse-pounding new read filled with her trademark edge of your seat action in the latest book in her Deep Ops series… renegade Feds than she has to. Especially not to Raider Tanaka, her control freak of a bodyguard and handler. It’s enough that his body is tensed for action and his heated gaze is always on her . . .
Too sharp. Raider knows there’s more to his new assignment than he’s been told. Why send a deadly agent of his experience to guard a computer genius—even a gorgeous, unpredictable, undisciplined one? But when Brigid’s estranged father is named in an investigation into Boston’s organized crime, Raider’s mind switches onto high alert, just like his senses . . .
Too close. To clear her father’s name, Brigid needs Raider’s help. The Unit’s idea that she bring a straight-laced Fed in as her “fiancé” won’t fly, though—not unless Raider can release his inner bad boy and become the rebel Brigid can’t resist . . .

I listened to the audiobook. I will go with a 3.5 for a rating because this book dragged in spots. The narration was good. I was able to be fully engaged in the story forgetting it was narrated by one person.
I thought Brigid and Raider’s relationship was lukewarm at best. I liked Raider and that he was cool under pressure, but I was truly sick of him getting beat up and threatened ALL the time. It was relentless. Thank goodness he had Wolfe for back up.
I like everyone on the team and all of their quirky behavior is somewhat endearing. It did seem like this book had a heightened level of violence, to the point of being tiring.
I thought Brigid would be more involved in the Op than she was and I kept waiting for her to appear, but she didn’t. That was surprisingly.
Overall, not a bad book, just too long.
Brigid is a bada$$ hacker who served time for hacking federal computers to catch child pornographers, now she has a deal to help the feds…
Raider is a fed, and her handler, and has to go undercover with the Irish mob as a criminal, with her help.
Of course, what I have come to love from both this series and author is that not everything is as it seems.
But I want to know where I can get a Roscoe!
Fallen is the second full length book in the Deep Op series. This is Raider’s and Brigid’s book.
Raider is a hot and sexy ex-fed, who demands honestly and truth from those he works with. Brigid is a beautiful and talented hacker but holds a secret that could hurt any chance she has with Raider. There is some action and intense moments because of men from Brigid’s dad’s past, a past she never knew existed. She believes her dad is innocent but Raider is determined to find the truth, and just hopes Brigid doesn’t get hurt and caught in the middle.
I’ve enjoyed getting to know this group of misfit characters and watching how close they have become. Although others might think they are crazy, they depend on each other and make the perfect team. Roscoe is a little over the top at times, but he adds a lightness to the story and it just works. Wolfe and Dana are heating up and their book will be next. Wolfe has a lot of secrets and I can’t wait to see what happens between them. Angus and Nari won’t get their book until after that, but I plan on sticking with this series until the end.
*I received an arc from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review.* Wow, what a great book!! Rebecca Zanetti is a new author to me & I’m loving her. I’ve read three books in the series so far & will be reading all of them. This is Raider & hacker Brigid’s story when Brigid works a case with Raider posing as his finance. Fallen is a well written, funny, action packed book with wonderful characters with their own idiosyncrasies. You will especially love Force’s dog Roscoe that suffers from PTSD, loves to wear high heals, has a drinking problem & is loved by the team. If you like action packed romances with humor & wonderful characters, this is the book & series for you!!

FALLEN (Deep Ops Book 2) By Rebecca Zanetti
This is the 2nd story in the Deep Ops series. Brigid Banaghan is a top tier computer hacker and Raider Tanaka is a Deep Ops agent who has been given the job of her bodyguard and handler. This story is a romantic suspense, it is well written with fleshed out characters that you care about, it has danger, intrigue and a dog that enjoys his Jack Daniels and steam from our hero and heroine. I am enjoying Rebecca Zanetti’s work. This is a 5 star read.
This arc was given to me from Netgalley for my honest review.
Fabulous story!! Interesting and intriguing characters!
Gripping story!
Raider and Brigid are captivating in this action-packed character-driven adventure. Secrets, lies, and subterfuge keep you guessing as to who’s working for who and who has your back. Humor, quirky characters, and sizzling heat keep you turning the page until you’ve reached the end. Then you want to download the next story in the series.
I highly recommend this book as well as the series. But I strongly suggest you read the books in order for an optimal experience.
This is the third installment of Rebecca Zanetti’s Deep Ops series and features Raider and Brigid. I’ve enjoyed the series because the characters are quirky and there is a lot of action.
Between poor life decisions, PTSD, and a dog with a drinking problem, I appreciate that the writer does not make the characters take themselves too seriously. They all recognize they are a little out there and are coping with things in their own ways.
Brigid and Raider are an opposites attract kind of matchup that is hot and heavy. They fight, they love, they work together to bring down human traffickers, the mob, and a corrupt politician. And they have fun while doing it.
Fallen is the second title in Rebecca Zanetti’s Deep Ops series, and it’s the third book in the series I’ve read (there is a Deep Ops #1.5), and wow, what an exciting, sexy, thrill ride of a read! It gets 5 stars from this reader.
The heroine in this intriguing and exciting novel is Brigid Banaghan, a world class computer hacker who ended up on the wrong side of the Feds by inadvertently hacking into a Pentagon computer. To avoid prison time she took a really bad plea bargain–the Homeland Defense Department (HDD) requiring her to join and work with the Deep Ops team, which they’d like to see disbanded, and which is under the leadership of Angus Force, to secretly spy on their activities and report back to HDD.
Raider Tanaka, a member of the Deep Ops team, is appointed as Brigid’s handler, keeping an eye on her and making sure she’s doing the job she’s supposed to be doing. To say that there is an attraction between these two is putting it mildly, but Brigid has always been attracted to bad boys, and Raider seems a bit too polished and straitlaced for her at the outset, but after one meeting in a bar on an op, he shows his bad, tough guy side, and Brigid is more than a little intrigued and attracted to this inscrutable man, as was this reader.
Bridig’s father, Sean, from whom she’s been estranged for some time, used to be an enforcer for the Irish Mob in Boston, and when he left the mob (a act which usually ends in death) after meeting Brigid’s mom, marrying her and buying a farm in upstate New York, he took some insurance with him in the form of records of their illegal enterprises and tape recordings of mob deals, conversations and activities. Now, the mob leader he once worked for is dead, and his son has taken control–he’s more than a little paranoid and wants those records and recordings back, and he’s not above kidnapping, torture, and murder to get his hands on them. Additionally, the Deep Ops team still think he’s involved with the mob’s illegal activities, but Brigid thinks otherwise, and wants to protect her father.
As the Deep Ops team’s ace hacker, Brigid, become aware that mob activities have expanded from the usual guns, drugs and prostitution to human trafficking; there’s a shipment of young girls arriving soon, and it’s their mission to figure out where they’ll enter the country and when. After trying and failing to get Brigid’s father to turn over his “insurance,” a way to infiltrate the mob, the plot thickens and takes off like a rocket, involving all of the members of the Deep Ops team in a race to stay alive, rescue Sean, then Brigid, and a reporter, Dana, who has been helping them. With every Deep Ops member involved in some way, including the hilarious, alcoholic German shepherd named Roscoe, their lives are in grave danger, and as the tension builds to a feverish pace, so too does the relationship between Raider and Brigid, at least until he learns that she’s been spying on Deep Ops for the Feds–which is a deal breaker for Raider, who grew up in foster care, and insists on total honesty at all times, as well as for the rest of the team, who feel they can no longer trust the spy in their midst.
There are so many twists and turns in this tale that it was impossible to put down. Will Raider and Brigid resolve their issues now that Raider feels betrayed and lied to? Will the team force Brigid to leave? Will Brigid, Sean, Raider, Dana and the rest of the team survive this op and be able to rescue the trafficked young girls in time? All these questioned will be answered, but not by this reader.
I found Fallen to be one of the most exciting, complex, sexy, deeply moving and addictive reads I’ve read in some time. The author managed to get into the heads and hearts of all her characters and had this reader totally engrossed in their story from beginning to end. Yes there’s some graphic sex and lots of violence, but both suits this novel perfectly. While this novel can be read as a standalone, I recommend starting this series from the beginning, and I think you’ll be as engrossed by the Deep Ops series as I am.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
Love this series. It hard to put down!! Love the author.
This is a well-written, entertaining, steamy, fast paced romantic suspense novel. It has likable, engaging characters, humor, intrigue, a cute kitten and a funny dog, and plenty of action. It is the second book in Ms. Zanetti’s outstanding Deep Ops series, and can be enjoyed as a stand alone. I am looking forward to reading Wolfe’s story with great anticipation.
Really enjoyed this one. The H/H were both strong characters and I enjoyed getting to know the additional characters. Loved Roscoe the dog! A bit unrealistic with the amount of injuries for the characters but entertaining nonetheless.
I enjoyed the authors use of verbiage and the characters gave an interesting dynamic to the story. A nice “get away” read.
This was a page-turner. Love a strong, smart woman – then this book is for you!
This is the second book in the Deep Ops series and technically can be read as a stand alone novel. However, this gang of misfits will have you wanting to read the first book just to see more of their antics. Even though there is humor, this is a romantic suspense novel, so don’t expect comedy on every page. This was a very enjoyable story with plenty of twists and turns as it seems that everyone is keeping secrets, even the supposed good guys. Looking forward to more from this series especially from Agent Force and Nari.
3.5 stars
Brigid Banaghan is a talented hacker who got caught and now is being forced to work with the Deep Ops unit. Raider Tanaka knows there is more to this assignment than he has been told, but goes along with being Brigid’s handler. When Brigid’s father becomes implicated with Boston organized crime, Brigid and Raider have to play the engaged couple to find the answers to clear him or implicate him.
The sexual tension between Raider and Brigid has been there since they were introduced. It was just a matter of time before they took the plunge. I quite enjoyed learning more about Raider and Brigid. We learned in the last book, Taken, that Raider grew up in foster care and created his own family. After learning about him it makes sense as to why he is so controlling and well put together.
Brigid is a hacker who got caught and went to jail because of it. She got out only to help with the Deep Ops group. We meet her father and see where she grew up. I liked her dad. He was a tough old man who took no shit. Brigid has been attracted to Raider since the beginning but she can finally act on her feelings now that they are playing the engaged couple. What she doesn’t expect is to develop real feelings and not want to let him go.
I enjoyed seeing these two fall in love in between fighting the bad guys. I really can’t wait to read the next book and see Wolfe fall. He may be crazy but he needs love too.
This series keeps getting better. I love the cast of characters in this series. Raider and Bridget are an interesting couple. I loved the way their lives seamlessly come together despite their differences. This book has just the right amount of action, suspense and humor. I can’t wait for the next one.
4.5 stars
While I knew I wanted to know about Raider and Brigid, I didn’t realize how enmeshed in their stories I would get. I really love these two as a couple. Brigid has some issues with feeling like she’s a good person, even though she’s a wonderful person. And Raider has a lot of issues after being abused and left in the foster care system as a young boy. Together…they’re a super couple. Able to make each other feel at home, no matter where they are or what is happening around them.
It’s no secret I greatly enjoy this author, she’s become a favorite over the last year or so. Most of her stories I find to be riveting with amazing chemistry. There are a few that haven’t ticked every box, but I still find those stories great and hard to put down. Rebecca Zanetti has great attention to detail and I’d be hard pressed to find holes in her stories, even with all the characters and storylines she often has going at once…until this story.
To be frank, this would have been a 5-star review but I couldn’t give a perfect rating due to the inconsistencies in this tale. Characters that meet at the beginning saying they never met. Rooms that are supposedly blocking all cell service and then a cell phone works, and more. So, while I was having such an amazing time reading this story, I kept being taken out of the story with these flubs.
Strictly talking about the storyline, characters, and connections this is a huge 5-star story. It’s a 10-star story, if that was a thing in my reviews. That’s what makes the mistakes all the more frustrating. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it was a fluke since I’ve never had these issues with her other books so far.
What I guess I’m trying to say is I still highly recommend this story. I love the Deep Ops family and how they keep growing closer as this series progresses. This story had me swooning, sitting on the edge of my seat, and even laughing out loud.

Rebecca Zanetti has kept me entertained for years.
