New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti delivers a pulse-pounding new read filled with her trademark edge of your seat action in the latest book in her Deep Ops series… renegade Feds than she has to. Especially not to Raider Tanaka, her control freak of a bodyguard and handler. It’s enough that his body is tensed for action and his heated gaze is always on her . . .
Too sharp. Raider knows there’s more to his new assignment than he’s been told. Why send a deadly agent of his experience to guard a computer genius—even a gorgeous, unpredictable, undisciplined one? But when Brigid’s estranged father is named in an investigation into Boston’s organized crime, Raider’s mind switches onto high alert, just like his senses . . .
Too close. To clear her father’s name, Brigid needs Raider’s help. The Unit’s idea that she bring a straight-laced Fed in as her “fiancé” won’t fly, though—not unless Raider can release his inner bad boy and become the rebel Brigid can’t resist . . .

Hacker Brigid Banaghan hates the undercover work she’s forced to do after getting caught by the HDD. She’s placed with a washed-up Deep Ops unit and is supposed to report on all activities. It isn’t long though before her loyalties shift and she’s placed in the awkward position of lying to both parties.
Her growing attraction to Raider Tanaka doesn’t help. He’s her pretend fiancé in a mission to capture a group of human traffickers involving a mob her father had previous ties with- or was it in the past? She’s determined to prove his innocence and capture those who are behind the ring.
Raider isn’t happy having the inexperienced Banaghan along on an undercover sting operation. He’s supposed to be her handler- he can’t afford to be distracted by the Irish beauty, but her plucky spirit and vulnerability draws him to her.
The action is fast-paced, with the good guys taking as many hits as the bad guys, but offset by humorous characters, (like Roscoe, the high-heel wearing PTSD dog) and snarky interactions that had me laughing-out-loud.
The Romance between Raider and Brigid is hot and sexy, with enough chemistry to burn up the pages, and had enough misunderstandings to make me want to bang their heads together!
I give Fallen 5+ lovely kisses- Loved this book!
“I voluntarily read an ARC of this book which was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.”
Brigid Banaghan got caught hacking and now she is forced to work with a secret Deep Ops unit. Raider knows there is more to his new assignment than he’s been told. When Brigid’s estranged father is named in an investigation into Boston’s organized crime, Raider’s mind switches onto high alert. Brigid needs Raider’s help to clear her father’s name but unless he can release his inner bad boy, pretending to be engaged won’t fly.
This ‘Deep Ops’ story is one hair raising exciting event after another and readers won’t be able to put it down once they get started. The characters are strong, vivid and easily grab the readers’ attentions and the chemistry between Raider and Brigid sizzles with extreme heat although they do seem like an unlikely couple but that just ensures that this growing relationship never has dull moment as the emotions flow and passions ignite.
The plot is fast paced with great timing that keeps the excitement coming and the suspense building throughout keeping readers on edge even as stunning twists ensures that they never know exactly what might happen. The ‘Deep Ops’ team is a great team that is strong with a compelling presence that readers wanting to be part of their team especially because this team is a bit unorthodox which makes things real and heroic. This story is energetic, spicy and thrilling with a bit of humor that really makes the story stand out.
Brigid Banaghan is a hacker that can do just about anything with a computer. She’s been forced to work with the Deep Opps team to stay out of jail.
Raider Tanaka is the agent assigned to be her handler. He is convinced that Brigid’s father is still involved with a Chicago Mob organization and is willing to use her to get to them. What makes this series so good are all the crazy and unique characters. The back and forth between the two main characters keep everything flowing. The chemistry is amazing.
The secondary characters just to name a few are Roscoe the high heel wearing Alcoholic German Shepherd, Wolfe the giant of a man who carries a kitten in his pocket and Angus the leader who is hunting a dead man.
I really love this series and I’m so glad Wolfe’s story is next
I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my fair and honest review.
Fallen is the second book i the Deep Ops series, I loved the first book and this one was just as good as the first one was. The sparks are flying between Brigid and Raider, can they control them to get through this mission without them both ending up dead. This band of misfits just works together and makes the storyline so much more interesting. We should all have a dog like Roscoe lol! This book was action packed, well written and I would certainly recommend it to others.
I enjoyed this exciting suspense tale, and this entire team of crazies are hilarious!
Raider Tanaka is an agent on a revenge mission. He’s a handler, and his last undercover asset was murdered by the Irish Mob in Boston. He’s using his new post, with the outcast Deep Ops unit, to find the people responsible, and make them pay. Meanwhile, he’s got a new asset, a talented hacker who was caught, and made a deal to get out of prison. She now works for them, and he hopes to use her skills in his mission. The fact that he’s fiercely attracted to her won’t stop him from enlisting her help. Though it might make things more difficult.
Brigid Banaghan is stuck. She got caught hacking into something she shouldn’t, and to stay out of jail, she made a deal to work for the government. She now uses all her skills for good, and she’s fine with that. She was trying to do a good thing when she got in trouble to begin with. But her new handler is an uptight control freak, and she doesn’t know why she is so attracted to him. She cannot get involved with anyone. All the agents in her unit work undercover, and have to lie all the time. She’s not sure she’s interested in being with someone who has such a dangerous job. Not that he’s shown any real interest anyway… But, when Brigid’s father is being investigated for connections to the Irish mob, she has to turn to Raider for help.
Raider and Brigid had great chemistry, and I loved watching their slow build to passion. They both had serious trust issues, and I really enjoyed watching them figure out how to be together. They were opposites in a lot of ways, and that definitely worked for them. I loved Raider’s strong, stoicism, and Brigid’s bubbly brilliance. Their connection felt very real, and I liked how they were trying to fight it before realizing it was pointless.
The whole team is an absolute riot. They all have their crazy little idiosyncrasies, and I love each of them. Wolfe definitely seems a little off, but you can’t help but love him, and his little pocket kitten, Kat. He has a lot of romantic tension with his reporter “friend”, Dana. There’s also a lot of tension between the boss, Angus Force, and the team psychiatrist, Nari. I can’t wait to see how that all shakes out. Force’s insane dog, Roscoe, has a serious drinking problem, and likes to wear (and chew) high heels. He is so crazy, and provides a ton of comic relief amidst all the action happening in the story.
The suspense plot was exciting, and I liked not knowing where the next hit would come from. Brigid’s dad, Sean, was a great side character, and I adored their relationship, strained though it had been. Parts of his past were intertwining with her present to create their current predicament, and watching it all play out was exciting.
As much as I enjoy the main couples in these books, what I really love most is the team dynamic, and how they’re always there for each other, like a big, insane family. They all have their issues, some more serious than others, and I adore watching them help each other through everything. I’ll be anxiously awaiting Wolfe’s story next. He and Dana the reporter’s dynamic is very interesting, and I can’t wait to get into his head!
FALLEN is the second instalment in Rebecca Zanetti’s contemporary, adult DEEP OPS romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for the HDD (Homeland Defense Department) and Angus Force’s Requisition Force Team. This is Special agent Raider Tanaka, and computer hacker Brigid Banaghan’s story line. FALLEN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and history with the secondary characters.
Told from several third person perspectives including Raider and Brigid FALLEN follows Brigid and Raider as they go undercover in an effort to infiltrate Boston’s organized crime. With her father a potential suspect and one time member of the targeted group, Brigid struggles with what has to be done, and the secrets she keeps to protect her life. What ensues is the fake relationship that turns into something more between Raider and Brigid, and the potential fall-out as the undercover operatives find themselves targeted in return.
Brigid Banaghan works for the Deep Ops unit of the HDD but Brigid keeps secret the truth behind her recent release from prison for hacking government computers. Working for Angus Force gives Brigid Banaghan purpose, a purpose that covers the lies she is desperate to keep concealed. Raider Tanaka is currently working as Brigid Banaghan’s handler but working together on an undercover operation finds Raider getting into character including a romantic relationship with our storyline heroine. As Brigid and Raider fall deeper into their assignment, secrets are revealed, and more than one player is desperate to keep hidden the past.
The relationship between Raider and Brigid begins as a professional assignment that soon turns into something more. Raider and Brigid find themselves on the receiving end of one too many attacks, attacks that often result in Raider fighting for his life. Hoping to keep up appearances, Brigid and Raider take their relationship to the next level, but in doing so place Brigid in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including former police detective and undercover operative Malcolm West, and Pippa Smith, (Hidden #1), Requisition Force team leader Angus Force, and members: former Lieutenant Commander Clarence Wolfe who carries a kitten in his pocket, and Angus Force’s quirky whiskey guzzling, lipstick eating German shepherd Roscoe: FBI psychiatrist Dr. Nari Zhang; Special Agents Tom Rutherford, and Kurt Fields, journalist and crime reporter Dana Mullberry, as well as Brigid’s father Sean Banaghan. The requisite evil has many faces. Dana and Wolfe’s story is next in BROKEN.
The world building continues to focus on the undercover ops, and Angus Force’s desperate search to prove a rogue agent not only didn’t die, but the FBI has known all along.
FALLEN is an intriguing with a spicy and character driven premise; energetic undercover agents, charming alpha hero, and arrogant bad guys. Rebecca Zanetti pulls the reader into an edgy and intense, dramatic addition to her DEEP OPS romantic, suspense series.
I will start by saying, in my opinion, I think you should read the series in order to fully understand the sequences of events and character dynamics. I read Taken, but somehow missed Hidden, so the continuation of situations had me a little confused in Fallen and it took a bit for me to catch up to the general going’s on within the series (stuff is referenced from previous books). However, aside from my oversight, it was an enjoyable enough story to pass some time. There were some instances where the hero/heroine annoyed me, their characters seemed somewhat adolescent and the big reveal of the secrets/lies by omission they hid from each other did not really live up to the anticipation from the buildup. It was more like, ‘Really? That’s it? The big reveal…’ but overall, it was a decent read. There was a good amount of tension and suspense, a bark of laughter here or there and some action and romance to balance out the book.
*I received an ARC through NetGalley and I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! The characters were all so different and flawed. Made for a great suspense filled read. Brigid is a hacker with a bunch of secrets. Raider may be one of the good guys but he is a bad boy. Loved the heat between the two. Brigid’s father really contributed to my enjoyment. Always surprising Raider by not doing what was expected. I did laugh at the pig named George Willowby Smith III! I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley and I freely leave this honest review
I am loving this series so much and Raider and Brigid’s story is absolutely fantastic! I love both of their characters!! This book has all the elements of a romantic suspense that I love and then some. There is also a nice dose of humor injected into the story via Rosco’s antics. Not going to say anything else about that but you will LOL for sure! There are some other colorful characters on the team too that will make you LOL. Such a great bunch of people!
Brigid and Raider are basically going undercover as an engaged couple. There is clear attraction between the two and obvious chemistry for sure, but this might not be the best time for an office romance. Can their fake engagement turn into a real romance? Will the case they are working on come between them? Will they give in to what they feel for each other?
This story is fast paced and totally awesome and I cannot wait for the next book about Wolfe, Broken.
As noted this is book 2 in the Deep Ops series. You can read this as a stand alone but I recommend reading book 1, Hidden. As good as Hidden was, Fallen pretty much knocked it out of the park. This gang of misfits, hearts of gold, the pets are being stomped on, smothered, (by their own higher ups) threatened, lied to as they go about saving the world, or their little corner. There is action both in and out of the bedroom, there is laughter, there is romance, family, hurt hearts, suspense and so many twists and turns that set me on my butt. Read book 1, Hidden, Read Book 2 Fallen and batten down the hatches for the rest of this series. Thank you for the arc Kensington Books, Rebecca Zanetti and Net Galley. It’s a wild ride! All thoughts and opinions are my and were unsolicited.
With Fallen we get Brigid and Raider’s story, the hacker and the Fed. You could feel the tension between these two from the first moment they were introduced in book one, so I’m thrilled to finally get there story.
It’s time for these two to have their first mission where they take point through a connection with Brigid’s father. Turns out he has a past life she never knew about which has drawn her into danger and has Raider fighting to keep her safe.
I feel like we really got to know Brigid and Raider. A lot of their past and their motivations were revealed that just added another piece to the puzzle of this rag tag Deep Ops team. Raider won me over with his fierce protection of Brigid, and Brigid was a great heroine. She was sensible, and smart, and a vital part of the team with her hacking abilities.
Wolfe is still my favorite character, well…next to Roscoe the dog. That dog is crazy and gives me great joy, but I’m so excited to find out that Wolfe and Dana’s story is next!
Oh my gosh! I absolutely loved this addition to the series!
When Raider and Brigid are required to go undercover to catch her father, things get a little dicey. First, Brigid is determined to prove her father isn’t guilty of what he’s been accused of, and secondly, Raider makes her super nervous. She’s not used to his touch and he’s suddenly touching her…a lot.
This becomes much more than just a romance between co-workers. There is a case that must be solved that goes back decades. The further this couple and their team work on it, the more is revealed and the deeper they go into a murky life of crime including a timeline that must be met or the safety and life of several young girls will be lost.
One of the things I found different, and entertaining in a weird sort of way, was that Raider, as well as almost everyone on their team, takes quite a beating throughout this story. Usually, the hero and the good guys stay relatively unbroken, but not so here. They just couldn’t get a break and the fact they were pretty much the walking wounded shouldn’t have been enjoyable, but when Rebecca Zanetti writes it, it totally is.
Raider and Brigid are electric together. I loved their banter and even when angry the chemistry between them sizzled. They get into quite a few sticky situations and despite injuries and quirky team members, they stay strong. Even when faced with certain death.
This is an amazing read with scorching smexy times, incredible secondary characters that I just can’t get enough of (Roscoe is still my favorite!) and lots and lots of thrills, suspense and drama. I’m not a fan of serials but this has to be my favorite due to the diversity of crazy that each of the characters within this team don’t even attempt to hide. It makes for so much fun trickling throughout all the heavier subjects of crime and violence.
Wolfe’s story is next and I cannot wait to get to it. But then again, I’m ready for all of them, right now!
I’m so happy that this author is continuing this series about a rag tag group of agents who are idiocentric to say the least. Put together by Force, a profiler but definitely not on the agency’s most popular list ! Yes this team are not exactly mainstream anymore, they are definitely lacking when it comes to support and equipment but they are dedicated and if you want the job doing then I honestly cannot think of a Unit quite as unique and focussed as these Deep Ops agents.
Brigid was released from prison to help the Deep Ops guys but she’s not exactly been upfront with them . Raider has fallen from grace since he lost a friend but knows he can finally take down the dirty criminals if he sticks close to Brigid. Brigids father has a connection to the family and Raider will use every weapon in his arsenal even the all too cute hacker !
This the second book sees the various characters being fleshed out a lot more. I absolutely love the service dog Roscoe and his crazy appetites. Plus there’s definitely tension between the resident shrink Nari and Force although if honest my favourite character is Wolfe and what he keeps in his pocket is just adorable ! I just didn’t find myself wowed by Brigid and as much as I enjoyed the action in this story I’m sad to say that Brigid felt a little flat to me. Plus I just didn’t quite believe in Raiders insane attraction to Brigid so sadly for this reader the central romance just didn’t have me gripped. However this is an action packed romp with lots going on and I was constantly surprised by the tense scenes and unbelievably dangerous situations that cropped up. Plus there’s a sneaky peak at the beginning of the next book and this reader is already salivating because it’s big, tough Wolfe so bring it on !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
I scooped this book up when I read that the heroine is a reformed hacker working as a government agent. What’s not to like there? The hero, Raider, is her handler at a fictional government agency that sounds a lot like Department of Homeland Security.
This book was heavier on the suspense than the romance. Zanetti always puts out a well thought out book with a lot of action. I wish more attention had been paid to Brigid and her hacking skills. I feel like that whole aspect of the book was glossed over. Overall a good read though.
This story was addictive, brilliant, well written, suspenseful, heartfelt, action packed and humorous! I love this author, she always has a way of engaging me in a story, and wanting to become the character. This is the first in this series that I have read, it is a stand alone as I was not lost or missing anything.
I loved the characters and the way they balanced each other. The tension between them, the heartfelt moments, the dialogue and the intrigue really made this story stand out to me. I love character drive stories and this is one of the best I’ve read.
I cannot say enough how well balanced this story was. There was never a time when I wanted to put it down, was board or found myself drifting. I was in this story from beginning to end; and yes I did read it in one go!
I highly recommend this story to all readers and I am off to buy this series in paperback! I received an ARC via NetGalley and I am leaving an honest review.
#NetGalley #Fallen #AwesomeRead #MustRead #CharacterDriven
Raider was a high-flying Fed but now he is consigned to the same deep, dark hole as the rest of the Deep Ops Crew. He has been Bridgits handler for the last few months and thought that they were doing good work. But the stakes have increased. There is a possibility that Bridgits dad still has ties to the Boston Mob. So now he has to expolit her connection to a notorious family to gain precious intel
Ah Bridgit, the lies that woman can tell! She has some whoppers n her arsenal but all the while she can’t believe that her own dad may be just as an adept a liar. But going back home, with Raider undercover as her new “fiancee” – oh my!
Strong story, brilliant characters and a good comic relief in the shape of one alcoholic dog with a shoe fetish, LOL!!!
This is book 2 in the Deep Ops series and you absolutely have to read the first book before reading this one otherwise you may be lost. This one is about Brigid Banaghan and Raider Tanaka. Brigid is the computer hacker that we met in the first book and Raider is her handler as long as she is working with them. When they are tasked with an assignment to investigate her father, they must pretend to be closer than they truly are. She is determined to clear his name and Raider is determined to finish the op while still keeping her safe. But Brigid has secrets of her own, and them getting closer just might get them both more hurt than either is planning on.
I absolutely loved this one! I have wanted a story featuring these 2 since they were introduced in the first book, and this in no way disappoints! Brigid definitely has secrets that she can’t tell anyone. And I fully understand her reasoning and fears. Raider has his own issues because of his childhood, and watching him work past it was great! They make this great team together, and even though Brigid is not a field operator-she still steps up to the plate and gets things done. There is lots of not only action and suspense but also a chance to fall in love. And after the things that happen in this book? I really can’t wait for the next one!! I really need Wolfe’s story!! Because that epilogue?? OMG!! I can’t wait!!!
I’ve Fallen for this series
Brigid is working for the Deep Ops team run by Angus Force, doing any computer work required of her. When she’s suddenly thrust into undercover work with Raider Tanaka as his fiancée, things suddenly become far more complicated and explosive than beforeThrow in her father who turns out to have a secret past, running from the Mob, more secrets, kidnapping and action galore….this story was truly gripping edge The team as a whole is quite unconventional but for all their quirks they make a phenomenal kick butt team. Oh and not to be forgotten the hysterical antics of Roscoe my favourite alcoholic with a height inferiority complex who wears high heels and a male kitten who slumbers in pockets…truly sensational story once again by Rebecca
Absolutely loved Brigid and Raider and overcoming their individual issues to work together and later become more. Also enjoyed the sneak peek into Wolfe’s story next, which I believe overlaps with a case Dana is investigating….which I eagerly await Thank you to the publisher, Netgalley and Rebecca for my advanced copy for which I voluntarily leave my honest review.
Fallen is….EVERYTHING! Satisfying, crackling with adrenaline, action, suspense, and intense sexual tension, I found myself hypnotized from beginning to end!
The incredible second Deep Ops story was EXPLOSIVE as all get out. Raider had me weak-In-knees and made my heart flip flop wildly in my chest. And Brigid…oh I really liked her! She was beautiful, strong, and way smarter than I would of expected. And her vulnerability side made her all the more likable. The explosive action and heart thumping suspense made this story a real crowd pleaser in my opinion. The story seduced, cajoled, and had me itching for another ride. I can’t wait for the next Deep Ops story!
Fallen gets a WELL ROUNDED FIVE ACTION PACKED STARS!
Fallen (Deep Ops, #2) by Rebecca Zanetti
Loving this series – this is Raider and Brigid’s story. We have all the team members plus some new friends, danger, evil, deception, violence, cute pets, laughter, tears and steam to get us to their HEA. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series BROKEN Wolfe and Dana’s story.
