2nd Edition – Includes Extended EpilogueI lost my men. I lost my leg. I lost my career. And all I could think of was Lauren.I left for West Point with two things: a broken heart and a promise to never let it happen again. Now I’m back in Colorado as a war hero. Fck that, I’m a celebrity. And every woman wants to open her legs for Captain America. So why do I only want her?**Even with one leg, Mack … America.
So why do I only want her?
**
Even with one leg, Mack Forrester hasn’t lost his swagger.
It’s been a decade since he left. But under his tattoos, I still see the guy who broke my heart when he chose his country instead of me.
I told myself I was over it.
Over him.
One glimpse in his crystal blue eyes and I knew it was a lie.
Now he wants me back, but ten years is a long time. There’s so much he doesn’t know.
Like, that I had his child.more
This is the first book I’ve read by debut author Eddie Cleveland. It will not be the last.As he took me along on the story of Mack and Lauren and their happily ever after, he made me laugh, he made me cry (multiple times for each) and he again made me feel gratitude for him and all the other people who have sacrificed and served their country. Maybe most importantly, he made me excited to read more of his work and I look forward to my next Cleveland read.
This story of Lauren & Mack had me feeling all the feels. I was happy, sad, frustrated, angry. I had Aha moments. Super steamy too I couldn’t put this down. Can’t wait to read Cameron & Chelsea’s story next.
The prequel wetted my appetite for this book. I quite enjoyed Mack and Lauren’s story. Their history and the years missed all brought together to allow a second chance.
I found this to be a fantastic debut book and a most gratifying read. I am giving this story a FIVE-star review and this is why. There is quite a bit of reality in this story making it impressive; as the powerful vivid scene descriptions by the author are impeccable. I personally know US Marines who have suffered from PTSD and have also suffered body injuries so as I read the book the reality was clear throughout this story. Mack and Lauren’s relationship did have its ups and downs but it was genuine. Their romance as described by the author is filled with fiery sensuous passion, and much devotion; Mack does some really sweet things for Lauren and Chris to show his love. The author does an excellent job showing that you need to face your issues/fears if you want a successful life and a blissful loving relationship with a family. I also loved the addition of the child as the author again does an excellent job showing what issues a young child suffers when faced with a devastating life-altering change and how the issues are conquered. The journey that Mack, Lauren, and Chris have is a bit heart-wrenching but in the end, they do get their well deserved Happy Ever After; I did relish this story and so loved the conclusion. If you truly treasure Bad Boy Military Romances this story definitely fits the genre and would be a fabulous book for your library. Without hesitation, I recommend this read.
Arc review For honest review. Wow that was great .I even cried in some parts. The characters in this book definitely are stronger, loving ,etc . And to honor our heroes that have given their lives .God bless you.
Absolutely brilliant book.
Loved this story. Loved the storyline and the characters. Loved Mack. Sad for what he went through but happy he came through a typical hero and loved the HEA.
I don’t know which is sexier- Mack, or the mind of the man that penned him. What a beautifully written story about a hero who chooses to follow his dream of military service, loses the love of his life due to following that dream, and then loses his leg in combat only to suffer from PTSD. The chemistry between the hero and heroine is hella crazy! You will definitely enjoy the ride that Cleveland takes you on via their POVs, which by the way is filled with intelligent and wicked banter. I can’t believe that this was the author’s first novel, nor can I believe this book hasn’t come up in my Amazon search results until now. Great BWWM Alpha Male story who’s primary focus was on telling a fantastic story about the relationship of two people in love and the time the hero spent in military service, and not the race of the characters. Just beautiful!
To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I have to admit I have purchased many of this author’s book because Military men just make my blood heat. Yes I admit it, they are my weakness. Unfortunately this book did nothing but piss on that love and respect for men in uniform. I get the whole she broke my heart thing but really?!?! I couldn’t take anymore when she willingly jumps back in with him knowing that he is the epitome of the worse man whore ever. I really looked forward to diving into the books I have from this author but no, just no. I want story and characters that have substance and yeah the first couple of chapters are cool but then it goes to crap and stays there. That was enough for me. I like story with substance and this wasn’t my cup of tea at all.
American Bad Boy by Eddie Cleveland is a continuation of Bad Boy and while I agree that Mack Forrester acts like a man whore with the women who want to have sex with a hero. But I appreciate that Eddie Cleveland having served in the military in Canada gives insight to how PTSD affects our returning men and women. It’s not easy to adjust and forget what happened in the Big Sandbox and having lost a close member of my family to one of the 22 men and women who commit suicide it’s heart breaking.
That being said this is just a book where two childhood friends to lovers go their separate ways when Mack decides to attend West Point and joins the Marines while Lauren attends college and becomes a nurse. They meet again after Mack returns back home to finish his rehab and her work place. But she has a secret and he’s acting out after the death of her husband. Mack soon knows that he had a child and set about helping him deal with grief while he has to conquer his own demons .
Yes, there’s a lot of sex but its also realistic in Mack’s experiences adjusting to the loss of his leg and being home again. All in all I’d give the book a 3.8 star rating and look forward to read the next two books in the series.
