Ken Follett’s magnificent historical epic begins as five interrelated families move through the momentous dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women’s suffrage. A thirteen-year-old Welsh boy enters a man’s world in the mining pits. . . . An American law student rejected in love finds a surprising new career in Woodrow Wilson’s White House. . . . A … . . . A housekeeper for the aristocratic Fitzherberts takes a fateful step above her station, while Lady Maud Fitzherbert herself crosses deep into forbidden territory when she falls in love with a German spy. . . . And two orphaned Russian brothers embark on radically different paths when their plan to emigrate to America falls afoul of war, conscription, and revolution.
From the dirt and danger of a coal mine to the glittering chandeliers of a palace, from the corridors of power to the bedrooms of the mighty, Fall of Giants takes us into the inextricably entangled fates of five families—and into a century that we thought we knew, but that now will never seem the same again. . . .

This is a fantastic start to the Century Trilogy by Ken Follett. These books really got me back into historical fiction. The audiobook version narrated by John Lee is highly immersive. You will not regret listening to or reading this story.
Historical fiction at its best and finest!
This book is one of a trilogy. All three books are excellent.
Well written, great characters and historical accuracy
Loved this book, hated to see it end. Well researched and great character development.
Historical fiction at its best
First book in a trilogy, I’m currently reading the third book and I absolutely fell in love with these characters. Starting with WW 1 and following through the wars till Vietnam, this book is historically accurate and as I stated, characters you will love, or love to hate.
I started reading Ken Follett with Pillars or the Earth and he has yet to disappoint me.
Loved the whole Century Trilogy series!
When it comes to historical fiction, the content of this book and the author’s writing style are particularly excellent, especially if one has any interest in pre-World War I society.
Like his writing style and research put into his books. He is a great author.
My book club read The Fall of Giants and I felt it was an excellent book for discussion. I was impressed with the research needed to write the book. With an historical background, the book is a well crafted novel with fascinating characters who live in different parts of the world each experiencing the same events from their differing perspectives.
Reminds me of “War and Peace” by Tolstoy but less boring… Amazing reading!
Same old Follett…FANTASTIC!!! Loved the entire trilogy, but this was my favorite. I always feel (& I’m sure I actually am) smarter after reading a Follett book, and that’s definitely the case with Fall of Giants.
I would never say it is an easy read but it is truly a story that you get into. K.F. truly does develop his characters.
One of the best books I have ever read!
I was certain I was going to hate these epic historic novels and am so, so wrong. They are so, so good! Seeing that dry Dusty history turn into living stories with families you end up caring about makes all the difference. Highly recommend.
Really love everything by Ken Follett, and this doesn’t disappoint. You really learn to care about these characters.
He pulls you into that time great descriptions great character development
Another Ken Follett Epic tale with characters who will stay with you years after meeting them.
Another fantastic book by Follett! I just love reading his books, I learn so much every time. The way he writes and the research he does for each book is phenomenal. It’s always so interesting to follow his characters throughout the book, he is great at making them seem so real and I actually begin to cheer for my favorites and boo for the ones I don’t like. I begin to feel as though I’m in the story when I read his books. I have one left to read in this trilogy and I can’t wait to get to it. Highly recommend!
