Ken Follett’s magnificent historical epic begins as five interrelated families move through the momentous dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women’s suffrage. A thirteen-year-old Welsh boy enters a man’s world in the mining pits. . . . An American law student rejected in love finds a surprising new career in Woodrow Wilson’s White House. . . . A … . . . A housekeeper for the aristocratic Fitzherberts takes a fateful step above her station, while Lady Maud Fitzherbert herself crosses deep into forbidden territory when she falls in love with a German spy. . . . And two orphaned Russian brothers embark on radically different paths when their plan to emigrate to America falls afoul of war, conscription, and revolution.
From the dirt and danger of a coal mine to the glittering chandeliers of a palace, from the corridors of power to the bedrooms of the mighty, Fall of Giants takes us into the inextricably entangled fates of five families—and into a century that we thought we knew, but that now will never seem the same again. . . .

Author Follett is incomparably a great writer and narrator.
Enjoyed reading the trilogy by Ken Follett – and followed the characters thru all the books….Love his writing style and the historical aspects
A sweeping, informative and moving history.
While I found it hard to keep track of all the different characters, I enjoyed reading it. It puts you right there in the midst of each different scenario, the affluent, the poor and all the tragedies that befell them. It added a new incite into wartime suffering by so many different people and their countries.
Great way to learn history
Fantastic historical fiction. I plan to read the whole series because this volume was so good. I Highly recommend this book if you are into history, and want a book that is very accurate yet tells the story through the eyes of the characters
ken follet dosent write a boring book. I read this years ago and enjoyed it very much. I recommend it.
Follet’s storytelling is wonderful, great depth to his characters- a great epic tale
Anxious to read the rest of the trilogy.
Ken Follett is an amazing writer. Fall of the Giants hooked me and I read this whole series. I enjoyed it so much that a year later, I went back and read it all again.
The entire trilogy was very good. As usual, this gentleman does his best in research and building characters.
It was extremely long with an awful lot of history, which I,m normally interested in, but I had trouble keeping the characters straight.
Great historical read; puts a lot of war-related actions into a new perspective.
I read this trilogy twice!!!
Great characters. Although I like historical fiction, it has too much war history for me personally.
Love all of his books! Books are lengthy, but you once you begin the journey, you don’t want it to end.
Just when I thought there could not be a better book than Pillars of the Earth… I love his books!
Wonderful!, wonderful! Wonderful
The story through time, should be a major television miniseries. The event of history in the story had me captivated through the entire novel.
What great start to this trilogy.
