Ken Follett’s magnificent historical epic begins as five interrelated families move through the momentous dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women’s suffrage. A thirteen-year-old Welsh boy enters a man’s world in the mining pits. . . . An American law student rejected in love finds a surprising new career in Woodrow Wilson’s White House. . . . A … . . . A housekeeper for the aristocratic Fitzherberts takes a fateful step above her station, while Lady Maud Fitzherbert herself crosses deep into forbidden territory when she falls in love with a German spy. . . . And two orphaned Russian brothers embark on radically different paths when their plan to emigrate to America falls afoul of war, conscription, and revolution.
From the dirt and danger of a coal mine to the glittering chandeliers of a palace, from the corridors of power to the bedrooms of the mighty, Fall of Giants takes us into the inextricably entangled fates of five families—and into a century that we thought we knew, but that now will never seem the same again. . . .

Great read
Loved it
I guess you could say I am a fan of Ken Follett’s works. I started reading his books years ago and keep on!
I love this series.
Loved the whole series
Hard to get into, but stick with it – great book!
I loved the story and learned so much about wwl. Can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy.
One of my all time favorite books!!
As with all of Ken Follett’s books, it was very well written and researched. The historical and fictional characters enhanced the story and helped give an overall picture of World War I.and years following. Mr. Follett’s has a way of bringing history to life. This is a great read.
Excellent historical fiction story line. Really interesting reading.
Big book but easy to read.
Captivating. You are drawn into a time and a story that everyone “knows” about, but not really. History can be very, very interesting!
This was the first book in a trilogy and all were excellent. You won’t want to read the next two after this one as the story continues. Great historical fiction.
Complex history applied to a great story of several families in 4 different countries.
Folette has long been one of my favorite writers. He can adroitly handle several genres and time periods. That said, this is one of his worst efforts. He covers nothing new and exhibits little of his usual originality. You would be better off just reading the actual histories by people like Barbara Tuchman or Robert Massie instead of these slightly fictionalized rewrites. If you are not at all familiar with the twentieth century, you might enjoy this series.
Captivating. Perspective on history from people of that time.
Best book I ever read.
This is a meticulously researched WWI epic that pulls the reader in to the times and the lives of the character
Did not want the story the end
This is a book I have trouble putting down. It’s just excellent for history buffs as well as readers who just want a good story and it grabbed me on page one
