It’s not happening again. It’s the first day of my senior year.Which should be awesome.Except I’m in a new town.At a new school. And that makes me the new girl.Which is not awesome at all.And the guy everyone is telling me to stay away from? The one who rules the school, the one who has mountains of money, the one who is drop dead gorgeous, and the one who does whatever he wants? He’s already made … gorgeous, and the one who does whatever he wants?
He’s already made me a target, thinking he can pull the new girl into his world by sheer force.
And that’s going to be a problem for him.
Because I’ve been a target before.
And it’s not happening again.
WARNING: Fall is the first book The Sunset Beach High series. It contains mature themes, sexual content, and profanity. If you’re not a fan of those things, this isn’t the book for you. But if you like serious stuff mixed with lots of bad words and some sweaty sex, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. It is the first in a four book series.

Presley moves to California with her Dad after her parents divorce and has to go to a new school for her senior year of high school. In her previous life, she was very quiet and submissive and never spoke up for herself. She would never talk back to anyone and she always followed others and ended up getting pushed around. She decided never to be like that again in her new school.
The day before school begins as she is laying on the beach after surfing the hottest guy she has ever seen blocks her sun with his two friends and starts talking to her in such a way like he expects her to fall at his feet. She informs him what a tool he is being, tells him she isn’t interested and walks away.
The next days in school both the surfer bad boy, Trevor Robinson and a football player Derek both start pursuing her. Derek’s former girlfriend swears revenge though Presley makes it apparent she is not interested. She does seem somewhat interested in Trevor, but they keep getting crossed signals.
The bullying parts come into play in many different ways, which I liked quite a bit. First there is some outright bullies that tell her at some points that they are out to get her like Shanna the ex girlfriend of Derek. Then there is Trevor who seems to like her but doesn’t know how to express it, so he calls her names, orders her around and when she doesn’t comply he tries to make her jealous by seeing other people, which is childish but it happens in both teenage and adult relationships all the time. I hope I am not giving too much away, since these are general and not specifics.
I really liked the topics and the flow of the book and the characters and I want to read more. It really wasn’t a big cliffhanger at the end so I am not sure if the next book will focus on the same two main characters or two different ones. I would read either.

This story had a lot of potential, but the terrible editing almost ruined it for me. Great story and plot, but needs an editor.
I was looking for something different to read and found this book via Goodreads from another Goodreads friend. For some reason, I love high school bully romances. I have no idea why, so I’m not sure how to explain. I shouldn’t enjoy these books since I was one of those girls that got bullied quite a bit in school, especially by boys. It used to drive me crazy.
I gave this book a chance thanks to KU and immediately was hooked. It didn’t take me long to finish this book at all. Now, I’m anxiously waiting for the next book, especially after what happened in this book. Fall is the first book in McKayla Box’s Sunset Beach High’s series, and it’s in Presley’s POV only. Presley is the female protagonist in the story that has moved from Virginia to California after her parents divorced. She ends up living with her father and moves for her Senior Year in High School. It doesn’t bother her since she was happy to move. Unfortunately, the first chapter alone, she ends up in the crossfires of a jerk at the beach when she’s catching some rays. The jerk and his friends end up bullying her around. She ends up catching up with them later at her new high school. She has new friends though that watch out for her and watches out for them. They warn her about the jerk Trevor Robinson and how he can make her life trouble. They also inform her about other characters in the book too, but Presley is not one to back down, especially with what happened to her in Virginia.
There is quite a bit of drama in this book, especially when it comes to a certain girl thinking that Presley is after her boyfriend. There’s also the issue with Trevor being over-controlling and a pain in the butt in this book with Presley. He has it out for her, either by being mean or wanting more from her. He warns her in this book not to hook up with another guy, but they are not a couple. He won’t be kind to her, but every bully has their reasons why they act the way they do, and Trevor has his goals. I don’t want to give anything away in this book, especially if readers want to check it out.
Why didn’t I give the book five stars? There was one scene that bothered me in the book with Presley, Trevor, and another character. Presley does something out of the ordinary and ends up in trouble. She was a ticking time bomb in this book waiting to do something she would regret later on. She did it all because of Trevor, who was being a jerk to her after what they did together.
If you have read Bully by Penelope Douglas, then you’ll enjoy this book too. There is quite a bit of cursing, tension, angst, drama, and craziness in this book. The very ending had me wanting to go through the book and kicking certain characters in the butt.
I enjoyed this book, and it was a nice break from the PNR and contemporary romance books I have been reading lately. I needed a book to make me go through several emotions, and this one did it. I can’t wait until the next book in the series, and I’m glad I took a chance on this book. I also found a new author to add to my auto-buy list.
Story Rating: 4.5 stars

Tropes/Elements: High School Bully Romance
Hero: Bully; Surfer; Controlling; Pain in the Butt
Heroine: New Girl; Senior in High School; Surfer
This is a high school romance with a “hero” who is very hard to like. Trevor is spoiled, mean and selfish. in other words he is very immature. He “gets what he want, when he wants it. And he wants Presley. He does things that will make you uncomfortable and are not things that would attract a girl you like. I am not sure how Presley saw past that. Presley is new to school. She moved with her father across the country because of his job opportunity. In her old home, she was bullied and looked down on. This is her chance to become a new person. I liked Presley, although some of her decisions were really bad. I give her a pass because she is in high school. When some of the kids try to mess with her at the new school, she fights back. I liked that about the story. The story is full of high school angst and some adult scenes.

Drama: 4.5/5
Suspense: 3/5
I read this book in one sitting and it was a very enjoyable read, Presley was a tad naive in a few sections that seemed a tad odd cause I was sure she would’ve caught on, but she never did.
Will I Read more of this Series? Absolutely!
Would I read more from this Author?
Yes!
This is a great bully romance out of a few that I have got to read. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. Presley has been put through the wringer but is slowly coming into her potential in dealing with some of the cruelties that happen within high school.

Wow! If this is what high school is like nowadays, I’m glad I’m long out of there. This was a gripping story about relocating to a new area for your senior year and the hijinks that the kids around there are in to. I was sucked straight in to the story. I’m thrilled this is going to be a series, as I didn’t get enough yet. Presley meets several people right away, including Trevor and his cronies, Derek and his, as well as Bridget and hers. They all seem to warm get about each other. Having been bullied before, she decides to reinvent herself. You will cheer for her. Amazingly realistic.

When I first began reading I was hesitant because it had a different tone than I was used to in writing. It also wasn’t your normal bully story. The style and story were refreshing and I’m glad I read the book and gave it a chance. Presley (loves the name) is the “new girl” and the story works through friendships and love interests. It is a definite read and I enjoyed it very much.
This is the first book in the Sunset Beach High series, and the story of Trevor, and Presley. Presley is the “new girl” in school, a title she’s had before. Trevor has set his sights on Presley, but she’s been warned to stay away from him, and she’s not going let him push her around. This book was a great read, the characters well written, and I loved the original story line. I can’t wait to read the next in the series, and continue Trevor, and Presley’s story.
