“When I kissed you last night, I wasn’t pretending.”Everly Dalton is a walking, talking, martini-drinking dating disaster. Forget kissing frogs. She can’t even get past the first date. But at work, she’s a badass—the longest-running assistant billionaire Shepherd Calloway has ever had. Her coworkers wonder how she handles the big bad wolf—and never gets bit. Shepherd Calloway isn’t interested in …
Shepherd Calloway isn’t interested in being anyone’s sugar daddy. Tired of women who only want him for his money, he swears off dating, determined to focus on running his empire. Until his gold-digging ex hits him where it hurts, putting him in a difficult position.
His solution—to have Everly pose as his live-in girlfriend—is obviously crazy. But the timing is uncanny. It just so happens Everly needs a favor from her boss—a big and awkward one—and this could ensure everyone gets what they want.
Besides, Everly can totally survive a few months of faux romance.
Except there’s a problem. Shepherd is supposed to be a single-minded, unemotional robot boss. Not an actual human with a heart and morning wood. Between the awkward bed-sharing and tingly fake dates, lines are blurring. And as Everly gets to know the real Shepherd, she discovers there’s more to the man behind the bank account.
And faking it gets all too real.
Faking Ms. Right is a hot, STAND-ALONE romantic comedy.

Faking Ms. Right by Claire Kingsley this is the story of Shepherd Calloway and Everly Dalton.
There is a Prequel called ‘Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters’ where we see some of the dates Everly went on. I haven’t yet read it but at the time of this posting it was Free (Novella size) on Amazon, so I do want to go back to read some of her dating history.
Everly has a bad track record for dating as we learned but she does succeed at her job as a executive assistant for the last few years. Everly boss, Shepherd had a history of finding new assistants very frequently but that changed with Everly. Shepherd is nothing but business, no show of emotions and is tired of women just wanting him for money and status. So when he breaks with his latest lady and she tries to draw back at him he goes into defensive mode. This leads him to asked Everly to be in a pretend relationship which involves her moving in with him. Everly doesn’t like to disappoint anyone along with always trying to help people. So when Shepherd asked her she says yes, but she also needs something from him too. So a deal is struck for a pretend relationship with as we know leads to something more.
I enjoyed the secondary characters and hope to read more of them in the future.
Everly is the personal assistant to Shepherd Calloway, and has been for 3 years, he never speaks to her apart from when it involves work, but her sunny disposition makes everyone in the office like her! Infact everyone loves Everly!
Her love life is another matter completely, it is a disaster! Her dates never go well, and so she decides to stay single for a while!
Shepherd is a very private person, he stays out the media as much as he can and never has long lasting relationships! To him there is no such thing as love!
When Everly gets a call from Shepherd asking her to dress sexy and meet him at a Gala, she jumps to it, afterall, he is her boss! What Everly doesn’t know Until she gets there is that he has told his father and girlfriend that his date is running late!
What follows is a love story that’s built on lies and dishonesty! But, is what they actually feel for each other real, and is this is end to Everly’s dating disasters, or is this the one that actually truly shatters her heart for good!
This book is amazing, I couldn’t put it down!
Faking Ms. Right is a heartfelt, fake lovers romance story. This hot romantic comedy is filled with secrets, lies, great characters, witty banter, sexual tension, hot chemistry, and plenty of heat.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
Everly’s dating stories already had me rooting for her to succeed. Talk about getting yourself into a predicament.
I devour every book Claire Kingsley has written. She has a knack for characters you cheer for, whom have friends you want to hang out with and some swoony romance for fun. And that’s what this book is – fun. Everly is a bit of a hot mess when it comes to dating. We followed her antics in Ms. Kingsley’s newsletter and watched as she finally found a great guy to connect with. That’s Shep. He’s most certainly one of her best male leads ever. He’s broody, aloof, intimidating. That is, until Everly brings sunshine to him. When we peel back a few layers, turns out he’s a funny, caring, great guy. Claire Kinglsey has done it again – captured my heart. Read this one, then check out her entire back catalog.
What can I say! Claire Kingsley has delivered with another fun, sexy read. Excellent writing and well developed secondary characters make Faking Ms. Right a must read rom-com.
I loved this so much!
It was sweet, it was sexy, it was FUN.
Everly – bright and cheery as sunshine, always wanting to make people happy and put a smile on their face. She is full of warmth and friendliness that made me want to be her best friend.
Shepherd – seen as a cold businessman, an emotionless, heartless robot.
But I’m here to tell you… that is false.
He’s HOT, full of love, and has a huge… heart.
And BONUS: he’s sexy and growly AF. And loves a good scratch on the back.
Be still my vagina.
These two stole my heart! Watching Shep’s layers slowly being peeled away by the delightful and bubbly Everly was heart-warming. Watching their relationship go from assistant/boss to a fake couple was highly entertaining. The anticipation and sexual tension was delicious. And seeing their attraction grow into something stronger was heart-squeezingly beautiful and made my heart go pitter patter. It was impossible not to fall in love with them.
And I must give a shout out to Nora and Hazel. These witty supporting characters are Every’s best friends and they added so much to this story. Love them, too!
I absolutely loved this sexy RomCom and highly recommend it. It had the perfect blend of sass, steam, and heart.
This was my first read by Claire Kingsley and I cannot wait to read more!
Is there anything better than a fake relationship? Well, yes – when one of them is the grumpy, silent type and the other is pure sunshine in a red dress. After Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters, this poor single lady needed a break and she certainly found him in Shepherd Calloway. This was a fantastic, feel-great, low-angst read that I devoured in mere hours.
Their reasons for entering into this situation were a little loopy, to be honest. But if you can make that small leap, you’ll love the journey they take to get to their HEA. The moments they share together are hilarious, tender, and sweet, but their chemistry…Whoa Nelly! Claire Kingsley can write smoldering romance like no other and Shep is one of my new favorite book boyfriends of hers.
Definitely pick this book up if you’re looking for a funny, steamy, easy-to-read book with wonderful characters. I already can’t wait to read Nora and Hazel’s stories!
*ARC received for an honest and unbiased review.*
Faking Ms. Right is a stand alone fun romance by Claire Kingsley. Claire has done it again with this book. I couldn’t have loved it more. I’ve decided that no matter what Claire writes, I know in advance it’s going to be amazing. She wows me every time. This was so different than anything I’ve read of hers so far and it was perfection.
Everly Dalton has the worst dating luck ever. She has had a horrible string of first dates. If you haven’t read the prequel to this book yet, Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters, you need to. It takes you through six of her first date nightmares. Everly has decided to take a step back and give dating a rest for awhile. She loves spending time with her two best friends, Nora and Hazel. She is an executive assistant to one of Seattle’s richest men, and loves her job. Everly is one of those people that it just seems like the sun is shining down on her wherever she goes. Everyone she meets is like her best friend.
“I liked making people happy. It was my catnip. Getting someone grouchy to smile? Best high ever.”
Shepherd Calloway was Everly’s boss. Everly thought of him as an unemotional robot of a man. He could make a man shake with fear with just a look. He never showed emotion and spent every waking hour working. Before she started working for him, Shepherd went through assistants like water. She had been there three years and held the record for longest lasting assistant. She didn’t mind working for Shepherd at all. She was good at her job and did what was expected of her. They had a routine and it worked. Until everything changed.
Shepherd was tired of dating women that wanted him for his money. It was time for Svetlana, his latest girlfriend, to go. But then Svetlana finds a new way into Shepherd’s life, and he finds himself in need of an instant girlfriend, fake girlfriend that is. Who better to recruit than his assistant? But when Everly walks into the ballroom of the gala in that red dress, he actually sees her for the first time. And what he sees takes his breath away.
Shepherd and Everly’s relationship ruse requires her to move into his penthouse for a couple of months. During this time, they get to know each other and trust begins to grow. Everly soon learns that Shepherd isn’t an unfeeling robot at all. Maybe he doesn’t show his emotions easily but there is a sexy, sweet man underneath that buttoned up veneer. And a few more surprises that Shepherd has never shared with anyone. For some reason, he wants to let Everly in. He wants her to know the real him.
“It felt good to let go a little. And maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing after all.”
Now, let’s talk chemistry. Because these two most definitely have it. They literally burned up the pages. Shepherd may be all buttoned up on the outside and Everly all sun shiney and smiles. But these two were hotter than hot with a good helping of kink thrown in.
There are also plenty of amazing secondary characters. Everly’s two best friends who I hope we might get to know better in the future. Shepherd’s brother and Dad who I loved. And also Everly’s sister. They all added so much to this book to make it the amazing book it was. There was also a character later on, Cameron Whitbury, that I was VERY intrigued by that I want to know more about! Are you listening, Claire?!
Have I convinced you yet to read this? These two had so many layers and I loved watching them discover each other. These two have completely stolen my heart. I woke up this morning thinking about them and couldn’t wait until I could dive back in to the book. This was a fantastic read and I hope you decide to check it out and enjoy it as much as I did.
A delightful old fashioned romantic comedy. Follows Everly’s dating disasters beautifully. I loved everything about this story. It is sweet with plenty of heat. The characters became friends of mine. So well done, perfection really.
Comic banter, cool surprises and a great family make for a wonderful mix. Everly is the wonderful friend we all want. She is pure joy. The story is sunshine. Thank you Claire Kingsley.
Shep and Everly are amazing! Shep is an emotionally closed off business man who just wants to run his business. Everly is his executive assistant who tries to bring sunshine to everyone she meets. When life happens and Shep needs a fake date he calls Everly, then she agrees to be his fake girlfriend. What happens when two people who are so opposite that they bring out the best in each other start spending time together. Shep and Everly’s story gives you all the feels. You can feel their insecurities, love, happiness and sadness.
Can’t wait for the next Claire Kingsley book!
Fake romances are everywhere. Someone is always faking being in love. Humor, strong characters and a roller coaster of emotions are what sets this book apart from all others. The characters of Everly and Shepard were perfection in the making. They had a strong foundation and every chapter led the reader on a wild ride. There were so many facets to the story besides the typical fake girlfriend. Once again Claire Kingsley writes a story that you cannot help but fall in love with.
This book is EVERYTHING that you want in a romance novel!
Everly is such a ray of sunshine in a world where cookie cutter heroines seem to be the norm. Not only is she smart, funny and beautiful but also kind and extremely loyal. She is a friend that anyone would be lucky to have in real life.
Shepherd appears cold and aloof on the outside but Claire was able to give him so many layers it’s impossible not to fall head over heels for him!
The chemistry between the two is scorching; I’m shocked my kindle didn’t burst into flames while reading this one! And like always the side characters (Hazel and Nora especially!) have so much depth you’ll be begging for more once you finish!
I absolutely loved this book and kept finding myself wishing it would never end. Shepard and Everly were awesome characters and their story is one of my favorites. I had such a hard time putting it down to get some sleep. You must read this book!
Shepard Callaway. Just the name makes me weak in the knees. I love a man who is a mystery. One who is the strong, silent type, and often misunderstood. One with secrets until he finds that special someone and can just be real. And Everly Dalton is that special someone. She’s a ball of sunshine who is smart, loyal, protective, and so deserving of love.
If you read the prequel to Faking Ms. Right, Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters, and you must–not only because it’s FREE, but because it will make you laugh out loud and then want to give Everly a great big hug for all she’s been through, then high-five her and have drinks with her for being so courageous and not giving up!
She’s not only beautiful, she’s witty, doesn’t take herself to seriously, selfless, a trustworthy confident, and an all-around wonderful person whom I would love to be friends with in real life. With all these great characteristics, it’s no wonder Shepard falls under her spell.
The two pretend to be lovers in this novel, and even though this trope has been done before, Ms. Kingsley writes a fresh and heartfelt story. One that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next because you will fall in love with both the hero and the heroine. Not only are they pretend dating and living together, but she’s also his personal assistant and he is the boss. Everly is so polished and professional at work, but a real sex kitten when the two are alone. I love that this book is told in dual POV and getting to know what’s inside each of their heads.
The author keeps you completely engaged as you read how Shepard longs for her, and the slow burn of them going from a working relationship, to a friendship, to their mutual desire, and finally, to not wanting to live without the other. Their chemistry is super hot and the way Shepard is described is oh so sexy!
They don’t have a normal courtship which makes this a very fun and emotional read. I love watching Shepard come out of his shell and how his once lonely world becomes filled with laughter. I also really liked his relationship with his father and brother who appear often in this book, as does her two friends and sister and sister-in-law. These wonderful secondary characters make the book both interesting and relatable.
Shepard is supportive of her career and has the utmost respect for her. She had always admired him as her boss, but once he lets down his guard and she gets to know him on a personal level, she likes what she sees and what she hears when they are alone! He’s not like the men she had those awful first dates with; he’s someone who makes her swoon and smile. He makes her feel cherished and adored.
They both have morals and values and I love the fact that he is not a jerk; he’s just been dating the wrong women and realizes how shallow he has been. But as many men do in romance, he makes a mistake and hurts our sweet heroine. What is a man to do about such a quandary? Read Faking Ms. Right and find out! You won’t be disappointed and will looove the Epilogue.
This is such a great book. I was hooked from beginning to end. I really felt the characters, their struggles, and emotions.
Ohh, Shepard, and Everly!
Talk about two people who from the outside look they’d be a match-ending in disastrous fashion!
How does that saying go? Looks can be deceiving?!
Hmm.
Happy, sweet, and everyone’s friend Everly is ready to give up on dating altogether- her track record within the dating world is bottles of wine worthy.
At least she has her job to keep her busy while she’s on hiatus, with her cold and impersonal boss Shepard Calloway, she’s the longest assistant he’s ever had because Everly knows his emotional cues/grunts or lacks thereof to a tee- keeps the beast calm- she thinks.
So when her arrogant, grump of a boss asks her for the biggest favor- ever- and it spirals into a chaos of the emotional out of their kind, they realize their worlds are about to be thrown into a blender, what will become of them? I highly suggest reading this sexy up and down humorous rollercoaster of epicness and find out!
It’s worth every delicious tension-filled, heart pumping, frustrating- swoon-worthy line!
Claire Kingsley keeps upping the ante on her work that grabs ahold of all of me!
Deserves more than 5 magnificent stars!
I love everything about this book. I have been a fan of Claire Kingsley for quite a while now, but this definitely ranks among my favorites. The writing is fantastic, the characters are real and relatable, and the chemistry is undeniable! This is an absolute must read!
Shepherd is my favorite kind of hero. He is broody and comes across as a bit of a grump at first, but there is so much more to him. He is sexy, swoony, and so perfect. While he may not wear his heart on his sleeve, he knows a good thing when he finds it. While he may not always know how to handle (or even recognize) his feelings right away, once he goes in, he is all in. I loved watching him open up throughout this story! Not only did I love seeing the way he grew and developed as his relationship with Everly grew and developed, I loved watching him with his family. They added so much to this story!
And Everly is an absolutely perfect ray of sunshine. While her optimism may get her into trouble on occasion, I love that she continues to put herself out there. She is definitely someone you want to have in your corner, because she has no limits on how far she will go for those she cares about…well, almost no limits. She is smart, passionate, and loyal. After all of her dating disasters, she definitely deserved a happy ending!
I absolutely loved the build in this book. While the connection between Shepherd and Everly was clear from early on, I loved that they built up to their relationship. The wait was absolutely delicious and kept me on the edge of my seat. I had a hard time putting this book down, because I was cheering them on and waiting for them to recognize what they really had. And once they did recognize it, I was so freaking happy I needed to see how everything turned out for them!
There are so many characters in this book that I am dying to see more of! Everyone was so well written that I want to know more about their own stories and see them all find their own happy endings. I hope there is so much more to come! This is one you definitely don’t want to miss!
Hot, aloof, secret heart of gold hero: check.
Sweet, bubbly, gorgeous steals the hero’s heart without even trying heroine: check! Everly Dalton was just about done with dating after many disaster dates without any hope of better ones in the future. Shepherd Calloway was tired of the same beautiful yet vapid women who only wanted him for his money. One favor needed turned into an opportunity for two people perfectly matched for each other to get together, but only if they realized it before it’s too late that is. Shepherd was soo sexy, I’m talking melt your kindle and maybe a few other things sexy. I mean those sex scenes, you better grab your fan! Everly is a burst of sunshine and happiness and all you want is to be apart of the Dirty Martini Running Club. To say I loved and thoroughly enjoyed Faking Ms. Right is a huge understatement! Claire Kingsley did what she does best: weave words together to bring you that addictive magic that draws you in, doesn’t let go, and leaves you with one heck of a book hangover. I received a copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
Faking Ms. Right by Claire Kingsley was a greet read to get lost in for a couple of hours. It was such a charming and light read with great characters. Everly Dalton has been working for Shepherd Calloway for a few years as his assistant. He is cold and distant and yet, Everly has been his longest assistant. But when he needs her help, they are suddenly looking at each other very differently.
I loved Everly so much. She was sweet, caring and light-hearted and had the worse luck when it came to dating. The stories she shared had me laughing out loud! Shepherd is done dating women who only want his money. He comes off as a cold and distant man, but there is another side of him no one sees. When an ex puts him in a difficult situation, he asks Everly to pretend to be his girlfriend. But as they spend time together and truly see each other, fake feelings become all too real.
Faking Ms. Right by Claire Kingsley was such a fun read. Their story was fun and light and captivating from start to finish. I loved all of their interactions and honesty between them. And the supporting characters were great. We all needs friends and family like that. This is a must-read for sure.
